Looking back through this thread it seems that Mercy, sunnyday, mazzers and you have been low carbing for quite a while so how have you all you found keeping to it long term?
Hi sheila
I do like this way of eating. Feeling satisfied with my meals enough so I can forget about food for a bit is good.
I have a nasty reaction to wheat, bread in particular. If I eat white bread I feel like I'm coming down with flu 2 days later. Been over 12 months since I ate any bread and I know I will never eat it again. Other wheat foods just make me lethargic, bloated and generally foggy headed.
Since avoiding wheat completely for a few months I find that if I have a small amount it doesn't bother me too much but if I do have a bit (sister's cupcake) I stop it all after that for a good couple of weeks minimum. Don't want to feel bad. Feeling bad makes avoiding this stuff so easy
Generally, I have found this WOE easy. My downfalls, when I have them, are plain crisps and cocacola. When I buy these things I know what I'm doing and they are treats not regular things
Luckily I live alone so I don't generally have 'bad' stuff in the house. I do have meat, butter and eggs in at all times:beer:
I suppose my other downfall is drink. Vodka lime soda is v low in carbs, tho

Thanks Mercy. I tried flax a while ago and got terrible wind but it seems ok combined with other ingredients. Think I also have a wheat intolerence as I don't get bloated any more and have been able to cut my stomach medication. Good to hear how it works for you long term
Like to see the giant Lindt bunny!
I don't drink much but am partial to a Baileys coffee. Not had one for a while though as it would take up a lot of my carb allowance.0 -
Hi sweetie
How are you with fermented veg? Saurkraut etc? If you found that ok it may be an option to ferment your own. I keep thinking i should try it, there are lots of recipes on line. Fermenting increases lots of good stuff, maybe it'd alter thing for you're allergies? OK things are kinda raw but processed.
Just a thought
Mx
I think fermented things would be fine. So are tinned fruit/veg and soaked or roasted nuts (a recent discovery). Basically it's just raw and fresh stuff that's the problem. But thanks for the idea, I'll have to look into fermenting things myself!I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Happy easter. Lol nearly typed happy eater then...
So I'm planning to stick with it today, apart from poss a little pudding later. We are having a roast but I'll skip the spuds and yorkshires, got some cauliflower mash for me, and I have some diabetic choc if I need it.
The veg is already prepped and in the steamer ready to go, just waiting for our guests!Bossymoo

I'm doing a roast but if the boys aren't coming home i'll put it off til tomorrow.
Had lots of reduced stir fry after work last night so i'll be happy with that.
I'm still going well and trying to resist the temptation to weigh all the time.
Been really really bloated tho last two days0 -

For those of you who have a hard time explaining to your nearest-and-dearest or other disparaging folk the VERY GOOD reasons to eat this way, I just came across this little morsel:-

Out for lunch with family and did well, avoiding roast potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, dessert and then I was given a box of Lindor. Had been wanting chocolate all day so I ate 6 whist I was there
If I had some dark chocolate I would have been ok but guess, like sistercas, tomorrow is another day0
