sistercas - I am like you and now having to really work at it. I went back down to 20 carbs and lost 4lb the first week and then put on 0.1kg last week which tipped me up 1lb. Trying to exercise daily now but to get to ideal weight I need to lose another 45lb although I'd be happy with 20. How about you?
bossymoo - going up to 25 will give you more choice so, if the Atkins bars help, then go for it. I prefer to have a handful of nuts and a square of 70% chocolate to go with them and when the chocolate melts with the chocolate it tastes rather good.0 -
Hi
I'm not really a fan of nuts but I could do some baking with ground almonds. Might get the kiddies onto that tomorrow.
I've lost 40lb yoohoo since last January but ideally would like to lose another 40 or 50 yikes. I'm the lightest I have been in 5yrs so over the moon but can't believe how bad I let it get. Can't even blame having babies as I was like this before.

I pick Lindt Excellence up when I find it, which is not very often. I eat it very infrequently but I'm on my last bar of Lindt Excellence 99% at the moment
which I'm pretty certain came from Waitrose near my Dad's but I can only find the 90% in my local. I used to buy it in Whittards in the King's Road but it was a good many years ago I was last there and I've not seen it in my local.
I was actually trying to find some more earlier today and ended up looking at the chocolate trading company. They even stock 100% chocolate domori and pralus as well as 99% Michel Cluizel. They also do bags of 99% chips which I thought I might try.
Both of these have it in stock but charge postage

bossymoo - well done with your loss since January. I have lost 84lb since last June and am the lightest I have been in 30 years which is great. Still have a way to go though and it is getting harder. Made almond pancakes with my grandchildren and they liked them with cream and raspberries or chocolate sauce which is just dark chocolate melted in cream with sugar / sweetener.0 -
Hi Peeps
Mazzers - :hello:I did vanish briefly for a few days and then caught up all at once on a several page readathon
i`ve managed an IF day today - 22 hours  hopefully thats broken my bad habits now
I`ve overdone the carbs with my one meal though as i made sausage casserole, it would have been fine if i`d portioned it properly but i was a bit of an oinker and had too muchone 25g bar of dark choccy as my treat and thats me finished until brekkie tomorrow morning.
Think i`ll be having sausages and scramblies tomorrow as i can`t be bothered to seperate the huge industrial sized pack of bacon in the fridge and i`ve also got 18 frozen sausages that i bought, cooked and then shoved in the freezer so i`ll take some of those and nuke em at w*rk
Its bloomin freezing here and i`m up at stupid o clock in the morning so i think that i`m going to put the electric blanket on, turn on the telly upstairs and bake slowly in bed whilst i doze off watching telly
Have a good evening peeps
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning everyone, beautiful day, not a cloud to be seen and i'm off work
Back on lc
Day 2 and been up weeing all night
Read the links Mercy posted and although it's stuff i already know, it really struck a chord and made me realise i need to do it.
This time around though, i wont worry about not getting breaks on time as IF taught me that going without is good for me, no food = no insulin so no need to carry nuts around with me :rotfl:
I am off for a nice cooked brekkie soon before i go off on a jaunt with my friend, not sure if thats wise with such beautiful weather tho, the roads will be packed!0 -
Hi Angelfeathers
Thank you for the recommendation for Elana's Pantry, there are some great recipes on there
http://www.elanaspantry.com/
I see that she uses honey or agave nectar to sweeten but I am sure that it could be converted to sweetener as it is high in carbs.
Yes, there are lots of helpful comments to the recipes where people say what they've used instead eg. Stevia etc. I've tried agave and found it's too sweet for me but I really like coconut/palm sugar, which apparently has a low GI so is not a bad choice, so I usually substitute that instead.
Obviously, none of these snacks are very low carb and should only be eaten as an occasional treat - so I'm having to regulate myself and stop myself baking too often! And at least they're healthier than normal cakes! :-)
Meant to add earlier that I get 85% chocolate from Tesco (it's called Ivory Coast & Ecuador Plain Chocolate, on the shelf with the Green & Blacks, Lindt etc.) and it's only 95p for 100g so actually affordable! Still has 21g carbs per 100 but I only have a square at a time. :-)I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

84lbs Sheila54 and 40lbs bossymoo those are just amazing results. Since giving up alcohol a few weeks ago I've lost about 3cm off my waist an all my trousers are too loose now. I've also switched from skimmed milk which I'd been having for most of my life, to Lactofree semi-skimmed which has had most of the lactose (milk sugar) removed. It's not carb free but I like it fine.0

I went to mr A this morning with two toddlers in tow, with the aim of getting oat milk for my youngest (dairy intol) and some of those lacto free mini pyramid things to leave in my locker at work. They had neither so am not impressed with mr a and will have to see if mr s has either.
Then my eldest said "can we go to McDonalds?" lol it was 8.30, so they ended up carbing out on a hash brown each and a donut to share yikes I was good and only had a cuppa. I wouldn't normally take them there but it was in the supermarket, and it's Easter, and they had been very good helping and not moaning lol. I normally get shopping delivered but didn't factor in the milk situation for dd...
They are now stuffing their faces with crackers, cucumber, kiwis and cocktails sausages. They eat constantly, hope they don't end up porkers like their mum lol

bossymoo - My sister (who is a larger lady) Always said that her kids just burnt off so much energy that as long as she knew they'd had good food often enough, she wasn't worried about the extras. She limited the MackiD's etc but never said never.
Both her boys are tall slim but well built young men of 18 n 20.
Kids can use so much as energy, but as long as they're regularly getting good stuff and are active there's not much to worry about
Sometimes just keeping it nice is good.
Hope you have a good Easter!

bossymoo - I always think that the breakfasts at Mcd are the best thing they do and take my grandchildren occasionally. We have all been there and offering an incentive when children are being good shopping is quite normal
Edwardia - funnily enough I got some Lactofree milk yesterday as I need more calcium and researched it. Plan to add in 200ml at 6.5carbs. Be nice to have a bit of milk again as cream is a bit sickly
mazzers - hope that you had a nice day out!
I went to Morrisons today for a change and found some Dark Chocolate with Italian Orange Peel. Carbs are 4g per 10g, 3 squares, but it will make a nice treat occasionally.
Feeling spoilt today as my daughter and grandchildren, who live with me, are making dark chocolate truffles for me for Easter as I can't have Easter eggs.
Have a Happy Easter everyone xx0
