    Hi daska

I started at 20 stone beginning of June, 16 stone in September and 14 stone 8lb at Christmas. Was 14 stone 4lb last week so only 4lb lost in 10 weeks. Now 14stone 8lb as of today. Seems that, if I go off of it at all the weight piles on but, having said that, I ate a bit more over Christmas but only gained 1lb. I know that the first 7lb lost on any diet is water but, who knows?

I have been eating healthily and haven't had rice, pasta, flour, bread, sugar etc but I did have a dessert last night and a tbsp potato. I have also had a small bowl of porridge and a cappuccino today for breakfast, 2 ryvita with cheese & salad for lunch and 2 sausages 93% pork with veg tonight.

Wow, congratulations! But could still be that I took a week off when I got to 16 stone (we have a week of birthdays, anniversaries, valentines etc) and put on 12lb. So I still reckon it could be. or aunt flo

Thanks for mentioning that. At 61 don't think that it is hormones, except that they now are checking my thyroid as it seems that it is borderline hypothyroid which, of course, won't help - and is why I want to use coconut oil.

Enough of me, how is everyone and are things any better with kids, depression, family etc. Not many people posting on here at the moment and I would like to know how it is going?

Sunnyday - how are you getting on with the early mornings?

indeed Aldi and Lidi both have low carb sausages at less than £2 apack but often only 99p in Alsi. There british pork chipalatas and 10 in a pack.

focus888 - are you eating enough? I think that the sausages are from Lidl.

    Hi Sheila,

I am eating as much as i want until i am full, and eat when i am hungry. The things i had today were all restaurant food.

Subway tuna salad and Nandos 1/2 chicken with salad :) plus i had some fried pork chops alil later on. I am not counting carbs at all just picking low carb options. Do you think i can still lose weight this way?

Well done on your weightloss, you have done amazingly well. I have a lot to lose so cant wait to get to where you are. x

Had some gorgeous sausages from Aldi, long curly skinny ones, which i prefer, not cheap at £1.99 per pack but there is 10 of them, 0.5g per 100g, very meaty.

    .

    Ah found it.

Would you lovely folk mind if I ask you for some menu ideas regarding low carbs?
My daughter is 15 and does alot of dancing but suffers with alot of pain after-her chiropractor has suggested that her body is quite inflamed and has put her on omega 3 oils, and said that carbs can exacerbate inflammation.
She needs to cut down her carb intake(this is a girl who adores pasta and bread-sometimes has cold pasta bake in her sandwiches!!!)and up her intake of protein and veg.
I'm a bit stumped about giving her foods that are going to provide the energy she needs, whilst cutting back on carbs-we're not going to cut them out completely, just cut right back.
She eats most things, doesn't love nuts(!) and hates eggs (!!).
    Any ideas???

There is a recipe link on page one :)
Most are our own concoctions, so have been tried and tested.

Fat will give her energy, in fact the body and brain works better using fats than it does carbs - we've just got so used to hearing carbs, carbs, carbs.

Nuts are great, as are things like avocados and unsweetened coconut products. Make sure you cook with animal fats like butter, coconut oil, pork/duck fat, and use olive oil on salads and for drizzling - not cooking. Stay away from sunflower, and other cheap highly processed oils - which are also inflammatory and high in Omega 6.

For dessert type things you can replace flour with ground almonds, although they can also be used as a base for quiches as well.

As well as the 'heavy carbs' - bread, pasta, rice, potatoes - sugar is one of the worst culprits for inflammation (and other things) so this also needs to be taken into consideration.

Sweeteners are also to be avoided, (although products using Stevia are better than other chemical products if you need something) this includes fizzy drinks.

Like mazzers says there are recipes on the first page, but if you google 'low-carb recipes' you will find a host of info.

Edit; re eggs, if you can hide them - quiche for example - it will be worth it for essential protein, vits and minerals.
