I so want to be rescued, but I don't think it would be good for me to meet someone when I in such as mess, what would be the point? They would not even be meeting the me I want to project to the world. Plus unless "the one" came along, I wouldn't be interested. I have spent too long waiting, i won't "settle" even if it would mean rescue.

    Precisely .

I spend more money than I need to which keeps me in debt for longer & I eat more food than I need to which keeps me fat .

Going to bed now & going to wake up tomorrow & sort my debt & fat problems out.

Exactly. I am going to plan a very pared down diet and expenditure tomorrow.

    :hello:Hiya everybody

Just catching up from the past couple of days.

Sorry to hear that it's been a pig of a few days, although I guess lightbulb moments are worth having even if painful. I think I've been with you on the collective downer, as I been avoiding posting due to feeling a bit carp, but I reckon things are on the turn now.

Pink Twirl - sorry to hear about the job & the reasons given - how ridiculous to base it on distance. Think I was once interviewed by someone similar, who didn't understand the concept that I had been communting the same distance for 3.5 years, so I think I would know by now if I could manage it. Doh! Glad you have managed to get some of it out of your system - the soundproof room here is so great for getting rid of the day's carp happenings, and there are fab understanding people to help. :A

Sarah - You make so much sense about the substitution spending to try and make you feel better. I have been doing a job I loathe for the past three years, and during that time have spent so much on clothes that East and Monsoon have been racking up vast profits. And although it didn't put me into debt, it does mean that I've frittered away money I will doubtless wish I had saved for my twilight years. :o

However, I am going to take you - gently - to task for one of the assumptions you are making about not wanting to meet anyone now because you are not the real you. Have I not noticed a kind, thoughtful, understanding person who has been helping everyone else here with sound advice, and has a wicked sense of humour? ;) If he who is to arrive in freshly polished armour can't see beyond some extra poundage and a not quite ideal home, then there isn't much under the armour. A shallow knight is for fun, not forever...

If I may be so bold, I am seeing some people giving themselves a hard time, these past couple of days. Don't forget that we are in the land of the F Fabulous, hey? :D A little self-chastisement is good for the motivation; a lot is failing to recognise all the achievements that have been made. *takes off lecturer's mortar board, and reflects on own inability to take advice* Be a bit kinder to yourselves...please.

In other news here, have decided to go with voluntary redundancy rather than taking my employer to tribunal. Feel way, way better with the decision made and I went out for a meal with some friends last night, and slept all night for the first time in ages. I am now so old I actually enjoy sleeping. That is scary. I will be interested in what my neighbours are doing next.

    Morning all :j
Hope we are all feeling more chipper today :o
Holyberry - great pep talk - you are right we are all totally fabulous even if we would like to be more organised about it;)
I think the suggestions to post spending, food etc on here to help each other along is great - can we add activity to it too because this is where I really fall down - haven't been within miles of a gym for years...and it shows:eek:

    Happy Thursday everybody:j

    Hollyberry -

sorry to hear that you too have been feeling down, your absence was noticed, another day & there would have been search parties deployed.

Well done for making the decision, sometimes that's the hard bit rather than actually executing it. A good night's sleep is not to be sniffed at, enjoy & if the neighbours do anything exciting let us all know :D

Quite agree with all that you've said about sarah being so F fabulous but I do understand how she feels about not being herself as I dont feel myself either in my current shape.

I have to leave here now ... somebody push me please :o

Hi All, Just a quick one about houses, I work with a girl who does part time she's got the husband and kids, and we were discussing house prices the other week, and has she said if she was trying to buy on her own these days she wouldn't be able to afford it even if she worked full time, and thinks it's a scary thought, it made me think about how well I must be doing to manage a mortgage, but equally how I wouldn't like to be starting on the first rung again, cos it is difficult and even tho I consider myself to be lucky I don't have a lot of treats and don't have a nice car, keep hoping one day my ship will come in, and if it did would I be able to change my habits to spending and I'd hope not, I'd hope that all the lessons I've learnt on here would have sunk so far in I wouldn't want to spend on carp, even tho I do from time to time.

So chin up everyone cos I find this thread to be the only one I check daily to keep me sane, I know I'm not alone with been single and I don't feel half as bad as I used to about that one.

    Hiya all

I'm feeling better already, thanks to the Fine Fabulousnesses who have already posted. :A I have sent the email to work, and am now awaiting the keys to the executive washroom, sorry, outplacement room...where I will unlearn the ways of civil servants and be released into the real world. ;):D

eco - Agree with you about the housing; it is a relief to have started a while ago - now in my second house - and not to be trying to get a first mortgage. But I do believe that the market self-regulates, and the big price crashes now are all part of the process of enabling people to get on the housing ladder. My first house was really scary with loads of work needed; although it was in ok structural condition, it was bought from an eccentric man who had a 20 volt lighting system tacked to the walls, kept his dogs in the understairs cupboard, had a spy hole in the wall to the (fortunately lovely) neighbours and used newspaper instead of loo roll. I found this out on the day I had to call a man with a big rod to unblock my drains. Pretty please don't ever let me buy a house like that again.

Lula - Sorry if I was sounding dismissive regarding the dieting and its effect on our self-esteem - wasn't my intention in any way. _pale_ :o I think I am probably too good at being able to ignore my own expanding posterior, and could do with a more critical eye to motivate myself to be fitter again.

What was making me sad was the thought that you very lovely, fine and witty people would be so down on yourselves that you might miss out on opportunities that arise before you are happy with yourselves again. Promise me you won't do that, ok? :A

So - first confessions of the day: Spending - £41 at Mr S, Exercise - 2 sprints across Mr S's carpark in the pouring rain, the second carrying two heavy bags working on those bingo wings. ;)
