I agree - that's a totally nuts way to choose an employee
Apparently we were so alike in personality and experience, though different, equally useful and good. They then tried to say that she has lots of banking experience (Barclays) and they will be doing lots of bank project over the next couple of years, however I have more of the analysis experience that they were looking for, but I have experience in the other industries they work in and ticked off loads on the job description.
Apparently we were such "strong candidates" that they had to base it on where we lived.
How's about basing it on which one has a job and which doesn't, or does the overall economy not matter i.e. we don't to help each other out. Well, isn't that what the government is doing with the banks? Obviously it doesn't happen closer to home.
Bah humbug. So much for a physics degree, 8 years project mangement experience and a part-qualified accountant. I'm not even qualified to count toffee it seems. I'm so sick of being told by them that I interviewed really well, it counts for nothing when you don't get the job!
Now I really am feeling sorry for myself and for all those flaming clothes that I bought 2 years ago, if only I could rewind and not have been a total idiot.0 -
I hope she doesn't take it and then I can tell them where to stick or, or she's so bad that she causes them all sorts of grief. Am I vindictive, yes!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Was thinking the same thing myself!!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
I once hit the wall with a frying pan as I was so angry and made a hole in the plaster work. It was there forever reminding me of my anger......
Maybe it is good to let all the emotion out???
Anyway, yep am well. Finished the last of the simnel cake and easter eggs so not a good day diet-wise but certainly tasty and at least it isn't in the house now!!
True, keeping it all in certainly does no good. Feeling like an idiot having cried at work today, I'm worried about making the men uncomfortable, "crying woman" thing.
Easter Eggs - lovely. On the plus side you won't get any more for another year so enjoying them now I think is fair enough.0 -

Tempting I know but......... and I am playing devils advocate they may well have just had bad experience with someone less able than you to cope with commuting.... shoot me in the head for being sickeningly patronising but nose/face and all that...
Sure would feel good to tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine tho :rotfl:FeeFee

It seems like they were really impressed with you and I know you'd probably rather punch them than talk to them but is it worth explaining your impending circumstances and asking that you be kept in mind for any suitable future roles?? Bit hard to stomach this kind of thing when you've just been turned down esp. on such a flimsy basis but it kinda shows kahunas;)

Yeah, I had that speech from her on the phone today, she said that they are such a small company. I didn't give them any negative feedback, believe me, I wanted to, but what's the point? Then they just think I'm a b*tch, not that it matters now anyway. Who cares what they think?!0 -
Failing either of the above I could ask my brother and his mates to go round and sort 'em out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They'll get over it! Men just can't deal with emotions (well most of them anyway!)
True, should make the most of it!
Was reading the Boots Grabbit thread and apparently there are a lot of deals on creme eggs and mini eggs.

Not at all.The interviewer said she had done it herself and found it tough. I find the drive from Glasgow to Fife, which is further, nothing, in comparision with some of the journeys I have done Bournemouth to Birmingham for 9am. But it's down to personal experience and she has let her experiences taint her views. But she's not me, she doesn't know my limitations. I was quite looking forward to the travel actually, I'd use my car less and it would give me study time for the rest of my accountancy exams.
