Lula - :j:beer: to free patio - what a stroke of luck! And so nice of you to give them some veg in return. I love the idea of belonging to one of those skills exchange things.
While we were investigating a village by the canal (on my hol) we walked past a house who were giving away free pears from their garden.
Fire Fox - I think the big wine glasses are quite sophisticated - so long as you know how much you are drinking....wine gives me such a headache if I have too much!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Oooooh makeup -
thanks for the link, am so excited for you, the place looks simply fabulous :j Have everything crossed for you sweetie ... & can almost taste those pink daiquiris
.
yorkshire-lad - hello again, all good here thanks, hope all is well with you
Fire Fox - love your account of patio laying :rotfl: er, hadnt realised that concrete was involved  was just going to sort of dig up a bit of grass, loosen the earth, rake over, put slab down & then jump up & down a bitguess that's... no good
TDQ - hope you're having fun on your underground tour of Britain, will be most envious if you get to see those huge salt mines under Manchester, do tell all please, and perhaps your team would like to do some minor excavating in surrey, go on, a bit of digging & weed ing will be fun
I've just paid another £30 off Barclaycard & had a call to say RSPCA inspector visiting tomorrow0 -
make up, the house looks lovely:D Am so pleased for you:j
TDQ, hope you managed to get hold of some cider/wine:D
Fire Fox, loved the patio story:D and am currently investigating flexi bars, I have seen them advertised before but feared that they would end p gathering dust, however am pleased to hear you only need to use them for 10 mins a day, I'm sure I can manage that:D
Lula, am loving your plan to lay the patio by just jumping on it, exactly what I would do;)

Thank you for the support. I just hope it all works out!
Lula - good luck for the RSPCA check although I can't envisage any problems - I think you'd make a great cat lady
(I don't have any worries about being crazy cat lady, instead fear I am more likely to be one of those women who either dies as a result of a giant stack of newspapers / magazines falling on her or else said papers/ mags catching fire  Am such a hoarder of mags .... I must be ruthless)I've got my own flat :j:j

Oh my God! Me too! It's soo bad. I forced myself to be ruthless for a while yesterday. I need to do more though. I buy way too many newspapers and magazines anyway...actually I have the beginnings of a challenge coming on...
Love the house by the way! It looks gorgeous! Good luck and keep us posted of your progress.
GwenxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Just popping in briefly to say that I have passed my inspection
... but have been advised to install a cat flap when the 6 weeks is up so cat can mooch in & out at will. It's all in the plan as I have no intention of becoming a doorwoman
I am wondering why I have allowed DD to have a long haired fluffy black cat when I have lovely gleaming white floorboardsShows how crazy I really am, although DD has mentioned that in addition to scooping poop - ugh- she will also take on hoovering duties ... I like
.
Makeup & Gwen : get that pile of mags & papers down to the recycling bank immediately, you're scaring me
Work beckons ....
bye for now

Makeup: congratulations on being one step closer to the dream house! :T
Lula-Hula: congratulations on being one step closer to being a crazy cat lady! I haven't heard anything from Cats Protection ...
With the patio you need to leave the ground as compacted as possible and make sure the soil is damp. You can either lay in a dry mix of sand and cement or just sand, but you will need one or the other. If you don't give the slabs a good base they will lift and sink over time, and may even crack.
You can point the slabs with just sand or sand and cement dry mix again. Damp from the soil will make the mortar mix set over time so must not be walked on while setting. If the patio is next to the house don't breach the DPC.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Hoorah for successful home check!
So you've picked the cat out already?! When do you get to pick up him /her? Has DD named the cat yet?
You see it just isn't that easy, for starters I've only kept magazines / papers with useful / interesting information that I intend to keep in orderly files for future reference. Said files are not yet ready......
Also I like to keep my Vogue mags.....
I must really get on top of it though, they are soooo heavy and if I do end up moving, I don't really want to be heaving massive piles of mags to the new pad.....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Lula Hula, for the £30 to Barclaycard!
FireFox and Money Waster, welcome to the thread!
I went shopping at the weekend and thought of you all, got a gorgeous dress from Fat Face, but as we went to the factory outlet at Ashford, it was £24 down from £50, :A
Introductions: Hi, I'm Carole, 27, debt free date was 4th December 2008, have been saving for a house deposit ever since. Due to my wide feet taking all the fun out of shoe shopping, I am not obsessed with shoes. (sorry everyone) But I do love clothes shopping, so its not all bad.Debt free date - 4th December 2008 :j0 -

I found out today what my work bonus is going to be, and even after the tax man and student loans people take their share, I'm still getting a little extra for me...:j
So, in the spirit of the thread, am just playing with the budget and working out how to spend it....its paid over 2 months pay checks, so in the first month, I am going to get boots, a winter coat, and a pair of shoes. And in the 2nd month will put all of the extra into the savings (and increase my target accordingly). Hopefully that will satisfy both of my personalities, the shopaholic and the one that wants a house, lol,
Have been useless this afternoon though, havent got any work done, have been too busy daydreaming about shopping sprees,Debt free date - 4th December 2008 :j0
