Single and in Debt Part II

Hi There
Welcome Fire Fox and Moneywaster - quick intro - I'm 33 (well for 6 weeks anyway) live in London and like Fire Fox not exactly in debt. I've still got my student loan but I was working as a freelance Makeup Artist and doing other part time jobs at the same time. I was earning rubbish money and was really unhappy with it all. So a year ago (on 30th Sept) I started working a proper career job and it has been so much better. I sometimes miss my varied life and I did love the randomness of it but the money is so much better (cleared all my debts in about 2 months :j) and I do enjoy my job (well every so often anyway) and the regular hours makes a social life lots easier and the better pay means I can go on holidays which is a passion of mine!
Firefox - sorry to hear about your ex...must be so stressful and upsetting to go through that.
I had a bizarre day. I've been saving for a flat - I'm intending to go down the shared ownership route so I've been checking out places so I know what they are like and to keep me motivated and I've found the most unbeliveable HOUSE.
It is a 2 bed converted chapel with stained glass and everything.....
I could afford the mortgage / rent payments and would probably be ok to get the mortgage BUT I don't have enough savings  as the flipping banks are now looking at lending on 85% (if this was 18mths ago I'd have been able to get 100% ..... I know that is bad financially etc etc but I really really want this HOUSE)
It is so stunning I think I've got to try everything to raise the cash so I think I'm going to have to speak to my parents about a loan.
I'm also meeting a very financially savvy friend on Tuesday to discuss 'creative accounting'!!!!!
I think I'm going to try what I can to get it but I'm going to treat it as a fate thing.... if I am meant to get it then I shall and if not...it means something better is lined up for me!
Then this afternoon met up with a friend who has found a new flat to rent which is fabulous for him (apparently sharing with a glamorous Italian so I'm going to ask him to put in a good word for me!) as his current living is less than good.
We went to see another friend who is working on a big art installation thing in a park and she got us in for free - yay :j
Afterwards we went for dinner, so I've shared a bottle of wine ( but I don't drink wine at home) so I'm back on the squash!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

I'm sure we can cheer you up with some fashion chit-chat, especially if you like shoes! To start you off I've just order this in both colours!! I'll only be keeping one though.

Very pretty top, Gwen, bet it will look ace. The magenta would never suit me but the other top was labelled as Emerald Green but on my monitor it looked like a nice aqua blue?I didn't think monitors could be out that much???
Wise move to get both so you can try on in person and your outfit sounds fab.
I see they have a stylist tool on their website. Reminds me of a fun 10 mins I spent on the Boots website.
They have a nail varnish tester where you can make the hand on screen same skin tone as you and change length and shape of nails and then 'test' the different nail varnishes.....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

make up, the house sounds gorgeous! When I was reading your post I did think it sounds like one of those situations when fate is on your side:jI would definitely ask your parents for the loan if you possibly can, if you know that you can afford the mortgage then this sounds like one of those situations where everything will just fall into place:D. Thanks for your support. The house sounds unique and special, you should defintely go for it. I'm sure you have the financial skills to manage with both a loan and mortgage, could you maybe have a lodger to help out with money?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Thanks guys.
I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it all really. When I viewed it, I thought wow, I'd never afford this so when I realised what it was I couldn't believe it!
It's so amazing but we'll just have to see.....
Fire Fox - did I read you had a diary? *wanders off on a search*I've got my own flat :j:j

Morning all,
Shoe Gal, I see you're up & about, hope you're feeling better today
wow to house makeup - I got tingles when I was reading your post
Fire Fox - so glad to hear you're getting a rescue cat too, I really wanted to take them all home with me but dont quite consider myself old enough to be know locally as the crazy cat lady. Yet :rotfl:. I forgot to introduce myself properly yesterday - how rude
I am Lula, 30 something ( ok, thirty ten if we're being honest :shhh:) happily single female with 2 DDs ( not just my bra size, it also stands for 'dear' daughters) One all grown up - ish,who I had successfully persuaded to leave home but now keeps lurking near the washing machine & food cupboard  and one about to turn 10 who is a great companion & very good at persuading me that we should rehome a cat .
I'm definitely on the 'green' side myself what with having an allotment & being an avid reuser & recycler. I also walk the line of being a pariah on this thread for having dreamt up the Crazy Clothes Challenge ... but hope that my love of shoes, bags, wine & chocolate & all other fabby type stuff means sarah :A will let me stay a bit longer. My favourite phrase is " F*** Off, I'm FABULOUS "
All sunny here so the washing is hanging out on the line & we're about to head up to the allotment to get some more free food :j
See you all later

Thanks Lula - l have rejoined the human race today
Just doing a few bits of tidying, washing etc at home before going to my mum's to watch my beloved United batter City
(Fire Fox - l may have ommited to mention the true love of my life, Man Utd - apart from shoes of course )Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
I feel right at home here already, thanks for including me so readily! :A I am very interested in environmental issues, but we are so backwards here that we do not yet have a doorstep recycling collection, so footpower is required.
Never quite worked out how the 'reduce reuse recycle' thing fits in with my desire to buy buy buy beautiful things for my flat and myself ...
Makeup would you feel comfortable linking to the house on RightMoves? I know we'd all like a virtual nosy round.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
