I forgot to say, I heard a story on the radio on the way to work this morning. It went along the lines of 'shopaholic grandmother in her 70's is found dead in her house amongst bags and bags of her purchases...' I had to smile...I fear I may be heading down the same path...

Thanks skint and ShoeGal, I'll have a look at the nail varnish offer.

Sarah - Thanks for your post, in fact, thanks to everybody for their support. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain my energy bill is correct. My boiler wasn't working for a while, I buried my head in the sand, didn't get it fixed for fear of needing a new boiler, used a fan heater. Now the boiler has been fixed for all of 70 quid and I have a DD for gas and electricity of 112 pounds. I am so stupid. I'm determined to get it back down again though. I may buy a hot water bottle for winter and get a blanket to sit under on the sofa - getting even closer to the scenario described in paragraph 1 though :rotfl:

makeup - Sorry your day didn't go so well, hopefully tomorrow will be better. Is the bathroom getting any better?

TDQ - Thankyou for explaining the mining stuff to me, although if I am honest, it went a little over my head. Are you feeling any better? Looking forward to your trip to Sydney?

    Lula - :A

Anyway, with regards to my current financial situation, I am determined to work hard and sort it out. I have had an expensive couple of months and now I have to pay for them, but I'll get there.

Allo to all the f fabulous SAIDs

make up - Sorry it's been a carp day, and that your gut instinct was proved right. Hope you are having a fine evening chilling out.

Gwen - Glad to hear you sounding a bit less stressed. And that you have more in the cupboard than you thought.

I have been reading back over the matched betting printouts with a view to starting for the next football season, providing my brain can be replaced with something other than the wallpaperish porridge that seems to have taken up residence. Since we've been back from holiday I have managed to lose some fairly vital things (such as half my prescription), although I am usually pretty organised. If anyone happens to spot my brain, please could you send it on home?

Off to find some nail varnish...

    Hey there

Bathroom is almost done, electrician coming in tomorrow and then we can use our lovely huge walk in shower.

Other good news is that landlady came to talk to us - we've cost her a lot lately and I was worried she was going to raise our rent. She just told us we had to do more cleaning and not overload our washing machine (we've just had a new one) - no rent increases!!!! :j:j

I opened a new savings account as well. I've an ISA but need another account for other savings.

Gwen - I'm a real heating nazi. I pay the gas bill and so I spend my time turning off the heating. One of my flatmates is from Florida and used to spend winter wearing T-Shirt and shorts. I#ve finally got him to change his ways. I find wearing socks and slippers makes a difference. I got some 'snuggle' socks for Xmas last year, basically just super fluffy socks and they were really warm. Do you have a good thick duvet? There are lots of places that sell cheap-ish duvets (I got mine from Woolworths - RIP)
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Hello all, am still feeling a bit faint whenever I think about it but am mostly recovered from the attack of the killer vegetables:D

hollyberry, am most relieved to find the one husband is sufficient, finding one is proving difficult so 5 would be a bit of a push:D good luck with the matched betting, I have read the guide several times and it always results in me feeling like a dunce. :o

Lula, have tried the free nail varnish and can't get it:mad: Karma is not paying you back for the shoes and bag, it's simply Lula's karmic law providing the reward before the difficult situation ;)

gwen, glad you are sounding more positive, re snacks at work, could you take a few in and keep them in your desk to save having to use the machine, I do it someimes and it;s much cheaper. Also a good ides from skint spice re the OS board, it is fab.:D

ShoeGal, yay to the list of positives on your diary:D

make up, sorry you had a carp day, hope you have wine and/or chocs to hand. Hope stalker man has left you alone.

Hope everyone else is ok :D

Definitely agree with this, I hate paying for heating. I put another top on if I am cold, I wear fluffy socks in bed, I use a hot water bottle and best of all I have an extra blanket to go over my duvet for really cold nights, it is brilliant and makes a massive difference, the bed is lovely and warm straight away.

    Hey there

First time I tried for the freebie nail varnish it wasn't working so I tried again and it worked out ok. Maybe try again???

Yes, feeling more chilled out now about it all!

So far so good with stalker man, he texted Sunday to 'check up on me' (!!!!!!?) but I didn't reply and nothing else so far !

makeup - Good news about the bathroom. A walk in shower sounds fantastic. Yay to no rent increases, you must be relieved. I am not good with heating. I hate, hate, hate being cold. The snuggle socks sound good though. I did find some Ugg boot type slippers in my wardrobe the other week that I got for a birthday ages ago and have hardly worn. I might dig those back out again. I have got a big thick duvet too. Otherwise, I guess it's a case of putting the fan heater away, switching things off and updating my meter readings regularly, hoping they go down again. To be fair my electricity usage whilst my boiler was broken and I was using a fan heater was huuuge!

Sarah - If you hate celery, throw it away or give it to somebody with rabbits. It is the devils vegetable. I do try to take snacks into work. I took some cereal bars that I got on offer y'day in today, but of course needed chocolate and crisps. I'm really tired this week and work is a nightmare, I will cut down on work coffee's and carp after tomorrow's presentation which I am dreading.

Holly - I was thinking about matched betting. I need to read my instructions again. Do you know when the football season starts again? I am such a girl! :rotfl:

I can't get the nail varnish either - boo! Might try again tomorrow. Off to bed now.

    Nightx
