Lula - I am sorry to say that I am giggling to myself at the thought of you in full Miss Marple tweeds, combined with a sharp pair of Rocket Dog pumps (or, of course, the lime green ones). I'm sure Agatha Christie would have approved. The possibilities for phonus interruptus are of course many, ranging from a fault on the line, unpaid phone bills, his OH returning, to a simple case of cold feet or alien abduction, so I hope you do eventually get to find out. Failing that, we could have an entertaining time here wondering which it is. ;) I can vouch for the "slow burn" approach to men, so who knows where your "friend" might end up; OH grew on me very slowly, but was worth the wait.

Gwen - I did get an alternative for the trousers in Wallis, together with a beautiful blue top for only £20. My purse and I are going to have words if she keeps behaving in this wanton manner. ;)

OH has gone to the pub tonight with a load of friends. I decided not to go because I went to the opticians yesterday and my eyes are really sore and stinging. I had to have two different sets of eye drops including ones that dilate your pupils, and spent rather longer than I imagined saying "better", "worse" etc. Good news is that my eyes are fine...bad news, £380 for two pairs of glasses and the first three months of my new contact lenses (it's nice to have them back again) and my eyes are now running like crazy in the light. I had to have a really good check as I am very shortsighted, hence the pupil dilation drops, and have had a corneal ulcer in the past (not caused by contacts, fortunately). The moment has also arrived for reading glasses...I am now officially "mature". :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Bad news is that I need two pairs, one for without contact lenses (expensive) and one for with them (cheap :D).

I have had a rather boring but very productive evening, updating my budget spreadsheet with my various savings acccounts, playing with my new online card reader, and generally shuffling money to get the best interest.

Hope you're all having a good evening, and looking forward to the weekend. One week to our hols on Sunday, and I am getting all eggited, as my favourite 6 year old would say. Am wondering whether to get a "MSE paid for my holiday" sticker for the case...

    Good evening all,

thanks for your kind words Gwen & Hollyberry, you're both absolutely right & I will probably never know , but I doubt the married bit as he gave me his home number & address, we talked about parents, grandparents. jobs, schools, cars, plants, animals etc etc. it really was the most normal & in depth conversation I've had with a male for years .. but it's friday night, I have wine (with ice ) & my house now only has myself & little DD in :D

Yesterday DD1 & I spent the day loading uop the cars here & then unloading them at her new place which is fab - about 5 minutes from Ascot town & so cosy. She moved her final bits out today - apart from the bag of washing that I'm 'entrusted :rotfl:' with & has now gone. I will miss having the company & it was fun looking through the fish with her BUT my home is much emptier, I finally got to change the sheets on DDs bed :o & we can now see the floor in her room :j

I hope you have wonderful day out Gwen & take no notice of those struck down with jealousy. I just dont get why people are like that, surely it's nice to see people enjoying themselves & having fun .

I am so looking forward to my lie in tomorrow then plan to spend the day decluttering, tidying & cleaning & will then get back into my debt busting.

Reminds me, i must shoot off to update my diary ...

    back later if anyone's about

You're right Lula, it all sounds very normal with poshbloke, but men are funny creatures esp. those on dating websites.

I don't get the jealousy either to be honest. I'm very excited about Wimbledon. Unbeknown to them I've had the sh1ttest couple of years of my life recently and if an opportunity for some fun and a good time comes along, I'll grab it with both hands. I think I deserve a bit of happiness and if that comes in the shape of a Men's Final ticket then I will go and enjoy myself. Really though, thank God for my friends, they really are amazing and I love them all and I can't wait to see my mate tomorrow!

Really must get sorted to go though!

Evening all, just returned from jolly night out with flatmates, have left them to it as too tired and old for all night partying:D

Lula, am loving the Miss Marple image:rotfl:However, no freaking drama is our mantra and there is freaking drama here already, have to say I think that however lovely he sounded on the phone there might be something fishy (pardon the pun) going on. I would have done the same and left a message, when you meet someone who you think might be fun, it's difficult to just let it go, but if you don't get a response soon after an answerphone message and a message through the site I would just leave it and move on. I do hope that he gets back in touch soon and it turns out to be something simple, but the gig with Mr Widower is something to look forward to and I would probably turn my attention that way for now.

Hollyberry, hope your eyes are better now, bad news on the reading glasses, I am dreading the day I need those. You have just reminded me I need to get another eye test and need to order some lenses, I am lazy and just wear my glasses all the time but I think they age me so will have to investigate lenses again. Love the idea of an MSE label for luggage:D

Gwen, hope you have a brilliant time at Wimbledon and step away from the bag:D

I have been very silly with food over the last couple of days and am very cross with myself, I will be extra good this weekend and hope I haven't put anything back on, this yo-yoing must stop.

Off to have some water to try to avoid hangover tomorrow, I want to get up fairly early to do some tidying and decluttering and try to store 10 bottles of wine and an extra 2 pairs of shoes away tidily :D

    Morning my lovelies,

now sarah - I too am very lazy & tend to wear glasses more than is good for my fabulousness but you must stop this now & practise eyelash batting ... think of it as exercise for your eyelids :D

I'm glad to hear that you were having fun last night, it is a very good thing to be doing on a friday night ( even if one does have to retire gracefully slightly earlier ;)).

I am still slightly miffed at Mr.PoshTown but as you say Too Much Freaking Drama  & if it starts like that then it will surely continue. I'm far less concerned about him today so have left my twinset & pearls in the wardrobe.

As regards fishing in general, it would appear that I have now reached the bottom of the barrel & girls, it's not pretty down there. It's like a bowl full of Bouillabaisse _pale_ all heads , tails & fins but definitely no fillets or steaks :rotfl:

Mr. Widower (rather recently poor man :() has asked if we could meet up for a drink as he has really appreciated my kindness & says there are many many freaks on the female side of fishing too.

I've said yes as I'm sure that he genuinely does just want to make some new friends & as we;re the same age we can chat about the 80's - which i never could with xbf seeing as that's when he was born :o:rotfl:

I will keep you posted ladies. I have a feeling that karma is testing me here & that I must really move forwards with caution in order to be rewarded in the long term & much as I would love to jump into Mr. Personal Trainer's camper van & see whether he has a rock n roll bed ( Hollyberry will know what I mean ;)) I know in my heart that I will probably end up feeling fat, flabby & depressed so much better to make a friend who could be for life. also, Mr, Widower was teling me how he'd got himself some bogof coke & how much he loved freebies :D - I cant wait to teach him about Quidco :rotfl:

As always i could sit here & ponder & pontificate -not sure what that means but it sounds rather grand :D for hours but really must get on with DDs room clearance.

    Back later I expect

    Afternoon all

Gwen - I hope you have an absolutely fabulous time at Wimbledon. :A You really deserve a treat, and I shall be peeping at the crowd on TV and wondering which one is you. ;)

Sarah - My eyes are much better today, thanks, probably helped by a magnificent eight hours of sleep. :D I had forgotten all those advantages in having lenses such as being able to see in the rain, no sticky glasses on the side of my nose in the hot weather, and no dents in the side of my face if I fall asleep reading... On the minus side, I fear I seem to have aged since I last saw my face in anything other than soft focus. ;):D So glad you have had a good night out with the flatmates; it sounds like fun, and you are definitely respectably late home. :p

Lula - Great news on the drink with Mr Widower. Some gossipy freakisection gossip.gif good company and MSEness sounds excellent, and if he too can remember his first slow dance to "True" then there will be plenty to talk about. (Mine, btw, was not memorable, but my friend's dance was with an American student who slid to the floor unconscious in the last seconds, and had to be returned 3 miles to campus in a shopping trolley. th_shop.gif:rolleyes:) Glad DD is liking her new place, and that you have some room to breathe again, even if you do have to fillet the fish solo.

Unfortunately, it is time to do battle with the deep recesses of the dressing room, where I believe my big case is buried beneath two overburdened rails and an assortment of bags. I will leave a trail of crumbs in case someone needs to come and find me.

    See you later. X

No one's home tonight, obviously everyone has better places to be ;). Glad to hear that your eyes are better Hollyberry; having not worn lenses much for a few months I was horrified to discover that my glasses had apparently been covering up all the lines on my face :( I had a drink with an xbf at the pub earlier & am now feeling rather sad. It seems my life is destined to be complicated where matters of the heart are concerned. Why is it that doing the sensible thing is often so much harder to bear than just living for the moment & not worrying about the consequences until they occur ? Probably because it's necessary to bear a bit of pain in the present in order to avoid a lot of pain in the future.

Just when I think that I must have had enough pain & heartache in this life ... karma emerges saying "Oh no, I'm not done with you yet missy "

Awww Lula, you sound so sad. Exes are usually ex for a good reason, and no matter how lovely a quick drink might be, I guess there are reasons why he is your ex. Here's to no freakin' drama, and some fine, funny, charming, gorgeous men for the future. :grouphug: And a dodgy hug in the meantime (plus a quiet whisper in the ear of karma, to request good things for Lula).

  • Hello girls,

I have been reading but not contributing, sorry about that. Officially stuff at work has stopped but unofficially I am still being checked up on.

I have a guy from okcupid who e mails- well when I e mail but for some reason I am not answering? I don't know. I am fairly sure I have given up on men. I gave my opinion at work about some thing and all the men just looked at me as to say why are you speaking. And I thought cos I am more experienced then any of you and you are all prats.

Lula hope you are feeling perkier today xxx and hello to everyone else xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
