makeup - How was your spa weekend? Did your sister enjoy it?
Hey Gwen - the spa was fab! My sister loved it. We were in there for over 3 hrs. We both had really lovely relaxing facials and then we hung out in the 'Thermal Heaven' (heated loungers, sauna, steam room, fancy experience showers), the Tranquility Room (nice room with loungers, magazines, chillout music) and the pool and jacuzzi.
The hotel was lovely and the room was gorgeous. We had a really fun time and I would recommend it to anyone!
On the Sunday we went to Southport and just before we came home we got some of those fresh doughnuts. Where they fry them right in front of you - they were soo good! I hadn't had any in ages!
Sorry to hear your riding lesson went badly, but I guess it wasn't really helped by your physio class. Maybe when you feel a bit better you will be able to go again. It would be a shame to give up after one bad lesson??I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

makeup - That spa sounds lovely; what a great treat.
And doughnuts too...excuse me while I slobber... I love the smell of both doughnuts and chips, but very fortunately don't like the taste of either...now that's a fine thing
Gwen - Sorry to hear you're in pain after that physio. Hope you're on the mend.
Sarah - That's all sounding very virtuous. Nice work.
Today is domestic day here. I have just hoovered the top and middle floors, plus two flights of stairs, so I am leaving the hoover to cool down before I attempt anymore (in other words, I am bored, and have come here to post and cheer myself up). The cable guy will be here later to fix the box, which is offering a tantalising ten minutes of viewing at a time before freezing. A mate is coming round later to give me a quote for painting the outside of the house. I am really hoping he has his own scaffolding, or it is going to cost loads.
Shoe Gal - How's the outfit count coming along? :cool:0 -
Yup Holly was a lovely break. And sadly I love all things fried - esp. deep fried...hence my inability to fit into any sort of clothing that could be described as slinky...
I hate hoovering so admire your achievements so far today.
I'm at work on my lunchbreak and looking forward to going home time already!!
I'm going out tonight for an Orange Wednesday - they do an offer at Pizza Espress as well so 241 on films and pizzas - hurrah! :beer:I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Evening all :hello:
Payday today - nice to see my bank balance in the red- even if its just for one day;) Paid off both off my high apr catalogue balances too so that feels pretty good:j
Ogled a very nice expensive bottle of wine when I stopped at the shop for looroll but I resisted :T Need to be good as I am away over the B/H weekend and will no doubt be having lots of eats and boozy-drinks - bad for both my wallet and my bottom:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Feel pretty positive about sticking with the DFW ethos today - was a little worried that once I'd been paid and my back was no longer up against the proverbial wall that the impetus would fade a bit but so far so MSE....!
Spent 99p on looroll and 60p on a can of diet coke today..
Ate pasta for dinner, sandwich for lunch *big slice of friends birthday cake* grapes, strawberries and an apple so far
Activity...?? c'mon this is me we're talking about!!:rotfl:FeeFee

Feefee well done on paying off TWO balances! That must feel great
It is hard to keep your DFW ways when you have money in the bank so well done!! ~Luckily I've recently had another LBM so I should be ok with payday in the next couple of months until I run out of steam again.
I feel a bit of a fraud coz DD has just made me a cuppa and she brought a biscuit in for me (obviously i didnt know it was there else it Wouldn't be there lol) She said I could have the biscuit as I've been sooo good on my diet all week! I smiled and said thanks and ate it with no concience atall even though I've been naughty. She's just happened to be at school all the time. Ah well, what she doesn't know won't hurt her :0/
Makeup, your break sounds amazing. It's my Mam's 50th next year so it's something to keep in mind for a present as she's so hard to buy for. What did you go to watch at the cinema?

Hi!
makeup - Your spa break sounds fantastic. Can I ask where you went and was it expensive - just in case, I have a small lottery win this year and can afford to go anywhere and enjoy your 2 for 1's tonight. Good work!
Well done on the catalogue balances FeeFee! I can't wait until I've paid off my first credit card. Its by far the smallest, but I'll feel like I'm on the right track then.
What's everybody else up to? I've had a bit of a LBM this afternoon. I put all my outgoings into a budget spreadsheet and I have 150 quid after all bills, shopping and petrol. That's to pay for clothes etc, presents, going out (ha!) and anything else vaguely fun. Doesn't seem a lot to me at all, but I am desperately trying to save and get rid of credit cards. I'm currently saving 225 pounds a month and paying over 100 off the credit cards. I know I should really be putting it all towards the credit cards, but I know what I'm like and I won't learn my lesson and will just pay them off and rack them up again. I have to carry on saving and pay off the cards. Need to get the hang of this clicking thing ASAP, then get some stuff on ebay and at least get rid of one card.
Feel a bit better today after the physio. Probably wasn't a good idea to go riding after that. I think I'm going to give myself a break to get over the back injury (caused by a riding fall!) and maybe look for somewhere else to ride. I've felt like I'm not getting much out of it for a while and I'm not progressing and I think I've lost my nerve a bit. It's not helped that they tried to make me ride a crazy horse last night, luckily my mate offered to swap after seeing the look of terror on my face!
Got my second date tomorrow night. Have sacked off the climbing cos of my back, but we're going for a walk and a drink. Fingers crossed for some lip action!!

Good luck with the date Gwen, hope you get a snog!
I went swimming today with DS and my eyes are really stinging now, and yes healthy exercise sounds very good but then it was late and we had fish n chips for dinner... whoops!Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Hi all,
I'm trying to work out what to do. As I'm starting my new job on the 25th of May, I will be paid one week short next month. That money was supposed to be held back for my car MOT and service (so I will be short of £500).
Do I
a) Scrape as much off credit cards as possible to pay it, with the risk of not scraping enough, or,
b) Take a mortgage payment holiday (this will throw me £660 just in case).
What would you do?0 -

Are you sure you can take a mortgage holiday? My lender said they offered them, but when I called last year enquiring they said they wouldn't do it and it was at their discretion.

I call them 2 weeks ago when I was really worried that I wouldn't have a job in a month's time. They said I could do it for 3 months if I gave them a month's notice.
I've just worked out at best that I could scrape together about £1100 from credit cards. I really don't know what to do!
Is it better to extend the mortgage by one month (if they will let me) or to max out the credit cards?0
