a tyre making a grinding noise though? strange. and why is it making it so hard to accelerate?

Hmm I was thinking this but the fitment is right for the focus so shouldnt need spacers!
The et is not the issue, spacers won't do anything other than increase the st and you may cause the Tyres to rub on the bodywork, both stnd and his wheels are et40.
Tyres can make a hefty difference to cabin noise, but I'd also get the wheel allignment looked at, it could be you're camber is out and/or toe.Negative equity of £100k. including the mortgage0
