Hi David-sorry to hear about your breakup-seems to be a week for it this week.
Am still waiting for my website to be done as well coz my webdesigner/friend lost her broadband for a week.
Good luck with your business hopefully you can get out of your temp job soon0 -
thank you mabel
decided to throw myself into getting the business going, sat back to long letting things go etc, worrying about credit crunch and debts and everything. and the woman lol its my last chance!
got my business cards, doing flyers and bits and pieces next week so all go hopefully then0 -
That's my next mission - trying to design some flyers... Hmm could be interesting!!
How did the meeting go Horace?0 -
Can I pick your collective brains for a minute? Thinking about payment at the wedding fair I'm doing in September (assuming anyone wants to buy anything ...no...must think positive...!)
If someone buys anything on the day then it will have to be cash or cheque (with a card-is this 'safe' these days?) as I cannot afford to get a card machine.
But if someone wants to order something how should I go about that? I will have my website up and running by then but if people are left to think about it would they go home and order? Or should I take a deposit and get them to send me a cheque or send them a paypal funds request for the rest when they get home? I'm confusing myself!!!!
I was thinking of perhaps doing a 10% discount if they buy outright or pay a deposit on the day and pay the rest when they get home (perhaps within 7 days?)-this would be an incentive to place an order straight away and not change their minds!
I'm sure this post makes no sense whatsoever but if you can decipher it..help!!!!! thanks :-)0 -
Hi moneymabel
My thoughts for what they're worth..;) Definitely cash or cheque + card on the day. Presumably you'll always want a deposit/payment in full before ordering , otherwise you might get stuck if they change their mind or try to haggle on price. Perhaps offer a discount for early payment, say in 7 days?
Hope this helpsLost 38.5 lb with SW so far, 56LB to go!:A

Hi all
David - sorry to hear about your breakup, there must be something in the air this week:rolleyes: With your massage things...how about offering your services to various beauty parlours? Just a thought.
Well folks, sorry I couldnt update you yesterday as I had internet problems which was caused by me tinkering:rolleyes: according to virgin media this morning they told me that I needed to get my laptop looked at professionally as it just wouldnt connect at all...so in true moneysaving style, I tinkered some more and found out what I had done and corrected it:j
The meeting went well yesterday, I got there in plenty of time too so I spent 15 mins in the car enjoying the sunshine and making calls. The venue is fab and I was told to go into the coffeebar and help myself to whatever I wanted (apparently its all free:cool:) I met the business development manager and we had a good chat, initially I had been advised that they had a civil licence but it appears that they havent and don't want one as they can only use the venue when there are no conferences booked in. I was shown around - they have lovely accommodation, a gym, free internet cafe, a spa, conference rooms etc. etc well, she and me discussed weddings and it turns out that she used to organise weddings for a venue that she used to work for. I came across as being so darn professional that she suggested that I organise conferences and advised me that she would keep her ears open for any opportunities - unfortunately the conference venue doesnt have any vacancies. I would still be self employed and it is something that I would enjoy doing - as you can see we gelled quite well.
I am off out in a while as I have two mystery shops booked for this morning and I need to take some trousers back to M&S.
Enjoy your days peeps:D0 -
Wow Horace you really are going for it. I am impressed. My day started well. I am doing the race for life and got a nice donation this morning which was nice. Then I got horrible apprasal form for work.
My manger is telling me I am ecellent at everything except i have comitment and enthusiam problems - hmmm wonder why? Anyway i have to go back to her on friday with my thoughts. Wonder what you guys think to me me saying the following:
I have been there three years in the same position at the same pay (apart from inflationary rises). I cover for everyone who goes on maternity leave or sickness for no increase in pay resuling in a huge workload for me most of which is admin work - not reception. I pass all my receotion work to the afternoon receptionist who does no admin work at all yet we are paid the same...
despite asking for a payrise and applying for two internal poistions noone has ever offerred me any sort of promotion or thoughts on what might be a good option for my career aspirations. My manager is bascially happy to let me sit doing my current job because it saves on getting a temp.
Spo now they are wondring why I don't seem enthusiastic. Funny how i can be excellent at everything but still be lacking in commitment.
As you can tell it is high time i moved on from this job. But times are hard and jobs are hard to find....
But good note - the writing is still going well. My regular clients ar still very happy with me and I am still finding it inspiring and fun. So there Ms manager!0 -
Well said Megs:rotfl:
I did my mystery shops so that will be another £20 winging its way too me:cool: I had a call this morning from the Working Tax Credit people making sure that I had signed off and asking if I wanted to be paid weekly. They queried the fact that I had clicked on the disabled box when I dont get DLA so I said that I had a disability but DLA was for folks with mobility problems who couldnt take care of themselves so despite the fact I have limited vision I can get myself out of bed in the mornings and plan a meal:rolleyes: I have said that Access to Work get involved from time to time too - in fact I fancy a new computer so I shall give them a ring:D
Still have to do the HB form as I am waiting for other forms about NI exemption. Funny, I had another P45 from the DWP - that's two they have sent me now:rotfl: I have a form to fill in for the jobcentre for my £100 back to work grant but I am loathe to fill it in because its to sign back on and there is no way I am going to do that:D
I guess you could say I was like a terrier when it comes to my job - I need to find work and will do almost anything to get it and I don't care what kind it is, later in the summer if things don't pick up I shall pack my tent and head to herefordshire for some strawberry picking:cool:0
