    Happy Easter everybody:EasterBun
  • Hello everyone :hello:,

Do you have room for another (Hybrid) one to tag along ? I've found this thread equally inspiring & somewhat OMG with those of you doing so well ! :o

I've kinda been self employed on & off since beginning of 2007 albiet with doing paye work at same time / in between "bouts", as I had to have some guaranteed money coming in.

However, I've now found myself out of paid work again (long story which I wont bore you with here, as it's all in my diary thread - and I want to participate positively here rather than dwell), so once again trying to get my "business" plans back on track.

I’ve had a couple of interviews, one didn’t work out & the other I’m still waiting to hear from. It’s part-time as opposed to full time, but with the possibility of that being extended in the future. If not, then next stop is the Agencies for Temp work, just to tide me over.

I’m joining some of the “freelance” websites to promote myself and again to try and secure some work. Checking out doing a couple of Sales Agent Roles & Delivery work too.

Despite finding it a huge challenge to focus on it while worrying about the lack of work & money at the moment, I am trying to use some of the time I’ve got now to do flyers and other things in order to try and get some work / money in. Need to get working on my websites too as in these times, not having them up & running is detrimental to business

I've started on samples & stock of my creative items, so I can do some Ebay listings together with visiting local shops & attractions for trade sales. Plus there’s several up-coming fairs / shows etc which I hope I can secure a stand for. I want to look into perhaps taking a market slot as well.

I joined Avon recently – my first “round” did not get much from it, it’s not classed as “prime”. But my AM dropped by this week, and has given me a new territory with a good list of active buyers on it which is great. I shall be busy with that lot for quite some time!! Hopefully though, it will make a nice contribution towards my revenue.

I also do some MS, and am going through all my companies to update my profiles - I include this as self-employment as most are, and I find it less complicated to put it through the account in the first place.

Well that's more than enough waffle for now :o

    Happy birthday for sunday:beer:

housework? I cant seem to get any work done if my place is messy.
some days i spend more times reorganising piles than i do working...:p but then it relaxes me and helps me come up with more ideas, i start sewing, make even more mess, then get frustrated coss there is too much mess...then back to reorganizing piles....

    :rolleyes:sounds very OCD:rotfl:
  • Morning all,

Hope you're all having a well deserved Easter Sunday off.
Are you all having anything yummy for lunch? I am going to work this afternoon so I won't be having a big lunch, however tomorrow I am going to make a salmon cheesecake.
I saw the recipe on the C4 programme "Come Dine With Me". It got such good reviews on the telly I thought I would have a bash.

I am currently working part-time as well as setting up my own catering company so like you lovely lot I do quite a bit of work from home. I am hoping in the next 12 months that my business takes off well enough so I can ditch my job on the head. I just wasn't born to be ordered around. ;)

When I am not planning my business or working 9 to 5 for some slave driver, I am a total net fiend.
I do find MSE a huge distraction, it really brings the procrastinator out in me...I can lurk for hours just reading the fab posts.

I have decided that to stay productive I must limit my surfing, so I have one hour in a morning and if I have finished the days tasks, I allow myself another hour at night.

    Today's tasks includes:

Working for 7 hours @ job - tedious but pays the bills.
Walk to work - saves petrol and takes an hour, so great free exercise.
Sorting through some more menus for business.
Work through next chapter of my Business Start Up Book.
Hoover through, wash the pots, make lunch for O/H & son.
Wash and deep conditon hair and manicure nails - I refuse to let my myself look like a scruff even though I am so knackered sometimes all I want to do is stay in my jimjams all day.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter and I am so envious of you all having yummy choccie eggs. I am off sugary things as I am losing weight.

    Chat soon,
    3Way x

  • Good morning everyone!

It's a lovely day here - at the moment anyway - and I hope it is for all of you as well! I should be doing something with my sadly-neglected garden, but I'm nursing a bad back so don't want to set it back. Getting to clients was necessary, cutting the grass less so. I've been contemplating sheep-rustling, though!

I'm going to have a "me" day - a walk in the park, and some cooking, and no work! 3Way - I'm planning a smoked salmon and watercress quiche for tonight, so we must be on a similar wavelength.. lunch is shoulder of lamb with tapenade. Cooking lets my creative side out...!

I can either work at clients' premises, or at home, so I've got a lot of things to go through. That means I will be working tomorrow, but not a full day. What I really need to do, though, is take a bit of time to review my business - the emphasis has changed so I need to spend a bit of time getting my letterhead etc redone. Plus I need to revive my website, all the text is done but the theme will have to link in with the revised letterhead!

Nice surprise last night, one of my clients (the most demanding) arrived with a BIG Green & Black's egg.. I feel appreciated!

All the best for the weeklend!
  • Morning everyone and happy easter. I must say I love Horace's easter smilie :) My OH has decreeded no eggs as we are a) broke and b) the doctor keeps telling us to loose weight

My mum has also decided that shes not buying me an egg but she has paid for my netball fees for this season, so ive decided I can live with that!!

I have one tiny bit of work I have to finish this morning, and then we are off to visit OH's sister and her OH as it was her birthday yesterday. Not working tomorrow either, as I am car booting, heres fingers crossed for a nice day and lots of sales!!

Dont eat too much chocolate you guys!

Hi all & Happy Easter to everyone - gosh we have a sunny day here too. Have felt very guilty not doing anything with the business this week, but on the plus side have been out this morning photographing loads of clothes to go on eBay. Weather was perfect earlier, no sunshine then, just bright & no wind either - a miracle. Also DD & friend still asleep - staggered in at 5.15am (!) - so no need to break out the easter eggs yet or do any catering. Will write up the descriptions & list all the stuff later today:D

Only problem is that going out in the garden depresses me - because the grass is soooo long & it is all my fault. We have a new state of the art mower (big garden) bought last year which is petrol but has a key start - I can't do the pull start thingy & DH doesn't set foot outside unless it is to get in the car:eek:. Well, first of all I lost the keys (put them somewhere safe) so we had to drive a long way to get some spares. Now the blasted battery is flat - but I can't find the charger, it is driving me NUTS:mad: Could be because we have 3 garages & a cellar full of junk where it is obviously hiding

Ah well, no more grouching, easter egg for me as well (I asked for one) later & nice meal in the evening, HM chicken dinner (requested by DD) followed by HM profiteroles.....have a lovely day all whatever you are doing:T

Happy Easter, everyone! Welcome to all new posters.

Haven't been here much lately - have been working long hours (good), all at other people's premises (not so good). No time off over the Easter for me - I don't mind as I really need the money, but at the moment I also need sleep. Have been working in the shop, doing bookkeeping for a client, giving a computer lesson to a mad woman and trying to fit in a bit of editing. Next week is completely booked - hurrah - all similar stuff but in different ratios (got mad woman twice ), but I have managed to bring some files back from a client so I can do some work from my own office. Am being hounded by the Revenue for late returns, so I have to squeeze some time in between working to sort out some accounting stuff. And I need to get over to visit my parents again soon. And work towards getting some new clients. And get on with a few projects that I plan will one day bring me in my fortune (of this I am convinced).

How DO all you people with families to organise manage? I have just myself and the mutt and still am absolutely hopeless - I plan and list and prioritise, all to no avail. Should be doing work now, but made the mistake of pouring a glass of wine as a treat when I got in ... ah well, tomorrow's another day.

Am being a shop girl all day tomorrow and have to do some editing in the evening (finished the bottle of wine this evening and have pledged not to buy another tomorrow, so might get to do the evening work). Won't get in till 9-ish though, and by the time I've had a bite to eat, it is soooooo difficult to get going again.

Got some cheques in last week (oh, the relief). Just waiting for funds to clear at the bank and then can pay one or two bills.

Good night, all. Have a lovely Bank Holiday.
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.
  • Good morning all.

It's a bit dull and overcast today up here in Yorkshire, so I am planning to be really productive rather than idle around feeling as downcast as the weather.

Today I have checked my online banking, done a few clicks and surveys, checked my Ebay listings...I have a bid on an item yay! :T
The rest of the day shall be tidying up, cleaning the u/s bathroom, glossing the bannister, hoovering the stairs, taking the dogs for a good hours walk for freebie exercise, putting my Asda order away (free delivery of course), preparing my salmon cheesecake and having a NSD.
On the business front, I shall continue reading through the HUGE Food Standards Agency book and do a bit more business planning.

I have today off work and I am not at work until 4pm tomorrow:j...so this evening I shall enjoy a glass of wine or two while watching Corrie.

Have a fab bank holiday Monday folks...

    3Way. x

Hello everyone - I hope your Easter break has been nice. It was my birthday yesterday - bit of a quiet one. One saturday my husband treated me to a manicure and facial - lovely! So on Sunday (my actual birthday) I had no presents to open....:( My MIL came round in the afternoon with a Next voucher which was nice and I am expecting another voucher during the week from my FIL.The kids made me some lovely homemade cards. But no cake (I am on a perpetual diet) or easter eggs for me this year. Still managed to put on a pound this week despite going for three runs and two aerobics classes!

So I am back at the computer writing a bit more today. I have to do two insurance articles and start a series of kitchen fitting how to's. We have NO money until wednesday (waiting for a cheque to clear) so I have no excuses but to sit here and earn some more.

Chilli concarne for dinner tonight - yum. Cheap, filling and goes a long way. The perfect MSE meal.
