If you put in your postcode you should be able to find one nearest to you. I haven't used them before although I do have a load of samples (squirrelled away from when I worked for the fraudster and got her to join the chamber - as I was contact stuff got sent to me so I kept it:j).
HTH
I thought I was making a saving with Vistaprint but really they are only good for stuff to give out at fairs so I get things for free or cheaply from them - brides just chuck stuff out anyway and I shall keep the 'best' cards for others e.g. suppliers and posher customers. I am looking forward to my meeting with them tomorrow especially as the branch to which I am going has been recommended.0 -
thanks for the recommendations guys, i have sent off for a sample pack and discovered that there is a branch about 10 mins walk from my house! excellent
am going to have a shufty at my samples then order some proper cards, am just so annoyed at how bad the vista print ones have turned out, what a waste of money:mad:
today i am looking after my friends daughter all morning then sleeping all afternoon (i work nights) then this evening i have a meeting with local artists where we network and keep each other up to dates on events and things. I am planning on opening an arts and crafts centre in the city centre and am going to propsose the idea to them, see if anyone wants to take on a shop... scary but you never know till you try:T
now ive handed in my notice in at work the time is dragging incredibly, 3 more weeks and one night to go and i will finally be free of working nights... although i imagine i wont have time to sleep for the first few months of being full time s-e!:rotfl:
hope you all have very productive days and make lots of money- or lay the foundations for doing so

Morning Everyone
Have been up early & have got all the essential stuff done - boring stuff like disputing a parking ticket has been put off till later. Am taking the kids to a museum at a jam factory today - more for my sake than theirs actually - have been stuck in the house for a couple of days & I need to get out.
I entered into self employment an easy way - was on maternity leave. Also I didnt need to start anything up just take over some of the business frommy Dad, sat a couple of exams and that was it. So I was very lucky. Sometimes I do hanker over an nice little office job with a fixed income but that is just lookin at it through rose coloured spectacles.
Anyway this is the real bonus when I can take a few days off in school holiday times.
Have a good day.

Morning all.
Just had a chat with our web designer and he said we are getting about 90 hits a day with 75% of sales as a result so mucho chuffed with that.
Nothing much to do today, reply to a couple emails, get some orders sent off. Have a meeting in the afternoon uhhh fun! it's too nice a day to be inside as well!
Anyhoo best get going. Have a productive day all0 -
I shall be off out at 1015 to get the bus to town (when I say town I mean Birmingham city centre) to go to the printers. Tried to pick up a Mystery Shop too but I don't want to buy clothes or fancy perfume today:rolleyes:
I woke up this morning with a plan - I am going to ring the chocolate people (the product launch crowd) and ask for a meeting because I want to discuss ethical wedding favours, and here's hoping I can land myself a contract to deal with any events that they run myself:rotfl: I am thinking that I am being conned and this time I am going with my gut instinct - I am not as green as I am grass looking as my mum would say.:D
Have a productive day all.0 -
Morning everyone. As soon as id sent off my 2 translations yesterday I got an email back with 11 files asking how many I could do today! Ive taken on 6 as they are all in the same format and mostly identical to the ones ive already done, and as I get paid per word I should earn more today
Just got the first one done
Have fun everyone today(im in a good mood - its amazing what actually having done work does to your self esteem.. I havent had a panic or anxiety attack since sat nite
.. which at the moment is a long time!!)

moneymabel wrote: »Hi lexxx-what sort of bags do you make? have you got your own website? (i'm asking everyone the same questions this morning-i'm soo nosy!!)
no website YET, looking at etsy, dwanda and other craft websites to start with.
bags i make are.... various types, handbags, clutches, shopping bags, purses made from mainly leather and cotton & recycled materials0 -
Hi again, Wordsmith, to answer your question (no you are not being nosey!) I write for a DIY website on home interiors and also for an insurance website bringing together press releases. Other work I am doing right now is a website for a corporate lets company and I will be doing a blog and newsletter for them too.
Basically I can write on any subject. I love to research new things. I have a degree in American Studies but there's not much call for writers on American Pop Culture or black history in Hampshire!
I also have a novel and several short stories on the go as well - but that's a different story (so to speak)
Lexx - i make bags too! This is what i do when I am not doing all the other stuff. I don't sell them but give them away as presents. I knit them then felt them. Sometimes it is a disaster but othertimes i love the outcome so much i keep it for myself!
I think some people are born to work for themselves. The sort of people (like most of you seem to be) who just can't stop doing things. If you are not working then your'e on the computer or knitting or sewing or crafting or writing. I hate to sit in front of the telly without a project on the go at the same time.Only down side is that housework tends to be put to one side. Far too boring!
Starx - yes it does wonders for your self esteeem. For someone to tell you that you are good at something and they are willing to pay your for it is so much more satisfying than working for a nameless faceless shareholder who wouldn't give a rats a***e if you did a good job or not - just so long as they get their dividends.
When you are self emplyed, how hard you work directly relates to how much you earn - but this is not the case when you work for someone else. They get the benefit of your hard work. It really isn't fair.
Thankls for letting me join your group. I look forward to tuning in everyday to see how everyone is getting on.0 -
Hi lexx and megs, your bags sound brill! A friend of mine makes jewellery and sells it on etsy, she does quite well through there.0
