JP - thanks for the card, I picked up my post this morning as I was too lazy to walk downstairs yesterday. Its fab and if you go to 4N you will see that I have left you a testimonial:D
I have some news of sorts, I may be getting another income stream - I happened to see a request on 4N the other day from someone wanting freelance audio typists so I contacted the lady concerned, she emailed me and I rang her today, so I could be doing audio transcription online - ideally dealing with all things medical and maybe legal too. She is going to send me a test on Monday so we shall see what happens in the meantime I have been offered a free audio transcription machine with headphones and footpedal (the tape variety) which I am going to have just in case I can get more work. The way I see it - its money coming in and audio typing is easy peasy plus I am quick and my average typing speed is 80wpm:eek:
Have had another set of holiday papers come through from the travel agent as they boobed with my surname, funny when I rang them to say that they had spelt my name wrong I was told it was a computer error. I have also noticed that I have ended up paying £2 towards the charity that Thomas Cook supports, I shall get that removed because I don't want to be forced to donate to charity and if I do donate then it will be to a charity of my choice and not theirs:mad: Off now to put something on the vent board.0 -
Hello everyone-havent been about for a while. have been lurking on he £100.00-10,000 thread, its very addictive!
Well done on the typing job Horace-hope the test goes well for you.
Thats bloody cheeky of Thomas Cook about the donation...bet they think that people would feel guilty if they complain grrrrrrrrrr enjoy the vent!
Ive been selling a few bits on ebay and had a order from my site from someone on the above mentioned thread!
Hope you are doing ok JP glad to hear you were feeling better.0 -
The transcription thing was a kind of false alarm because the old machines have been ditched, the solicitor who was doing the offering has said I could have one of her new ones (no thanks, not necessary now) but she has offered to look over the contract my solicitor did which I am trying to re-write for free:cool:
Well done on the orders mabel.
The Thomas Cook thing seems to be something that they do and one soul over on the vent board doesnt see that there is a problem with making the donation:mad: It wasnt mentioned when I booked - I was just given a price for the holiday and thought that I was paying airport taxes, the flight, the transfers, the hotel accommodation on HB basis with single supplement. Anyway I am off to the travel agent tomorrow so will sort it out there..flippin' cheek.0 -
evening all, im fine thanks mable, not getting any orders through my site yet but hopefully tthey will come once i start on the fayres from sunday. My new aim is to get my website widley known as we have just been told we are going living abroad for 4 years. after waiting for 2 years they have givn us the choice of 3 postings and still the chance for john to get the job in st mawgan. so trying to work out how to keep my buisiness make it succesful and live overseas, hopefully sunny cyprus!!
Horace thanks for the feedback on 4networking, glad you liked the card. I've heard of the charity thing before but only because we booked online and you could take it of or i would never have known about it, i agree they should give you the option and not just force it on you. I'd be complaining to.
Going to be busy again tonight trying to prepare for sunday, i'm worried sick no one will buy anything of me. i'm hoping to do some more favours tonight then for the next ones maybe some buttonholes and boquets. also need john to sort out my pricing as hes better at maths than me.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Hi all
ooooh a potential posting overseas - Cyprus would be nice and you could always stick with your business and just do it online. Is the job in St Mawgan still with the RAF?
Wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow - you'll do great.
Spent sometime this evening on a cashback site called Fatcheese and came across a company called Notonthehighstreet - basically this is an umbrella for several creative businesses which may be of interest to folks on here: https://www.notonthehighstreet.com (click on the about at the bottom of the page as they are always on the look out for new small businesses).
I managed to get the money back from Thomas Cook - I went into the travelagent today (had to hand in some paperwork but had a go about the unauthorised donation) - after the agent spent half an hour on the phone, she managed to get them to agree to refund the £2 that they had added to my bill..flippin rob dogs:mad: £2 may not seem a lot but I could get bread and milk with that.
Have a great weekend all...good luck for tomorrow JP:cool:0 -
Jp that wedding card is absolutely beautiful - you have a very good eye.0

thankyou amber.
Does anyone know how to judge a good wedding fayre? or how well it went? I didnt get any orders today wich im gutted with, but there were alot of complaints about the wedding fayre not being organised well and different bits. I didnt have a problem other than being cold as we were in the doorway but alot did. Also alot saying that usually for that kind of money you would get some lunch wich alot hadnt brought thinking it was included.
Is it right not to expect orders at the fayre or did i just do rubbish? Got some good contacts though, one photographer wannted to help me out with some publishing and a cakemaker wanted me to join with her so i can make some cake jewellery, like vines. Shes turning work away because she doesnt know how to do them so we can benefit each other so that was good news, just no orders from brides.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Hi everyone
Hope you're all ok?
Well I finally got my self assessment all done and submitted yesterday...a whole day before the deadline :T You may laugh, but for me this is very good, I don't have a great track record for handing things in before the absolute last possible second
Have also branched out into selling on ebay as well as my website, which seems to be going well so far. Figured it can't do any harm to have another avenue for sales opportunities?
JP, regarding what a good wedding fair would be like, I couldn't say, but I would say that I can see why you're downhearted about not taking any orders on the day, but don't write the whole thing off as a disaster. If you've had interest and been giving out your details, then you never know how many people might place an order later after they've had chance to get their head around all the things they've looked at. Out of interest, how much did your stand cost you?much work to be done - new sig coming soon...0 -
hi monkey, the fayre cost £125, ive also got another 2 fayres booked but they only cost £40 each so ill have something to judge it on then. alot of people were new to wedding fayres but saying they are finding it hard to.
i wouldnt have my tax return done either if it wasnt for john, he understands all that so i leave it to him. Whe he picked me up today i told him im going to rent him out as a chimney sweep as its something brides want but cant find lolback to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
I didn't really get much interest on the actual wedding fayre day but looking at the dates of the weddings of the brides that attended ( I did a prize draw and got them to write their wedding dates, name and addresses on) a lot weren't getting married til 2011 ( this was last September) so hoping some might have kept my card! I don't think I'm gonna bother with any this year, I'd rather put any money into the website. My cards are in both local wedding shops anyway.0
