Oh dear I just wrote a long explaination of why i haven't been around and lost the whole lot....nothing exciting just general family stuff and rubbish weather!

Rags: greyhound has kindly described me as the writing guru. Can't say i agree - others are making alot more money than me, but I am happy to help if you want some advice. With your experience in childbirth, home education and so on - you would be perfect for a parenting magazine. You just need to formulate a bit of a plan and practise your writing skills. Wriitng is perfect for someone who is at home with kids - like me.
If you want more specific advice on which websites are good and how to sell an article, I can let you know (don't want to bore everyone else!). Just PM me.

hello to everyone else too. I promise to make more of an effort to keep up with this forum. I have been reading one on the employment board which is classic - guy suspected of taking drugs at work do. Poor bloke - but it is a poopular thread and lots to read!

MM - yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! well done on the order....just think, if you didn't have the website that wouldn't have happened! A lesson to us all!

Greyhound - thanks hun, i'm feeling a lot happier now this stupid ice is going. I actually didn't take our dally out for her walk today because I knew she'd pull me over. She's sulking!

Horace - could you cook the chicken and then refreeze? That way you'll be sure it's ok?

No work today but I'm working tomorrow and quite a lot next week. On Monday I'm going to start this years accounts to so that I complete this months mission. I definitely feel I'm getting more organised and I'm having a bit of a health kick at the moment which has made me feel really positive. Week 2 and still enjoying it....watch this space to see if it lasts! :rotfl:

    Have a lovely weekend xx

Hi all - I was toying with cooking the chicken Muddy but fear that it may have thoroughly defrosted when I had that power cut although I have eaten other meat from the freezer without any ill effects.

This afternoon, I have been sorting out what I am doing at the Spring Fair and have managed to book onto two seminars which are being run by Amanda Hill of Dreams2Go (being in 4N I have managed to blag a couple of freebies). One of the seminars is called Wicked Weddings and is all about balloons...Amanda teaches balloon courses and I am hoping to pick up some tips. I need to get my pizzazz back - I think its because the snow and the gloom that has made me feel quite low (and probably the lack of orders and money coming in).

Megs - I think that chap on the employment board is a troll - its just a feeling that I get.

    Have a great weekend folks.

Thanks for the ideas and support everyone. I have looked at the threads on 4N about wikaniko and got some more information and so far I think it could fit in with the Green Parenting articles I have written (all 2!!) and the blog I have going and fit in nicely round the children.

Since I last wrote there have been major developments at home that mean I am going to be a lone parent very soon. Suddenly i'm having a heart failure about that but anyway.....

I know a lot of you know each other but I wondered if people would mind saying what business they are in/how they earn money at the moment as I can't figure out what people are doing :D

    Thanks again,
    Becky

Rags - first of all big hugs about what you're going through. Sorry I've no advice to offer but you know we're here for a rant/moan/giggle!

I'm a complementary therapist working from my converted garage. I do reflexology, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, facials and a few other bits but I specialise in working in palliative care. The majority of my work is in my private clinic though I do work in a hospice one day a week.
  • Hi Everyone...

Long time no speak - work is a little hectic so not getting much time to come on here for a catch up..

    I have 2 business areas..

    1. I'm a Training & Development Manager / Consultant - currently working on a contract till the end of the year. I love it but it's very time-hungry!!

    2. I run my own Eco-friendly website retailing lots of different products, whilst also being involved in the network marketing industry (sort of...)

Mmabel - congrats on the order..

I just wish I had the time to get really focused on the business - it is a true passion of mine and I know it will give me choices once I'm at the end of my contract for business number 1 and when we have a family.

I may get round to working on it this evening - OH is going out and I need to re-align all my prices now VAT has gone back to 17.5%

Well.. best get my house cleaned because having had it on the market since Oct last year - I have my first viewing today!! :T (I have reduced the price - which might have had something to do with it)

I also need to sort out my Car Insurance and plan my trip to the Spring Fair..

    Have a good day everyone..

  • Good luck with your new life, Becky, you'll do just fine. I'll c & p my first post as I'm pretty new here so nobody really knows me or what I do.

I occasionally look at this forum because I like to see how well people are doing with paying off their debts and how they manage to achieve it (okay, I´m nosy ...) and came across this thread. I´m self-employed and although I never thought of myself as being in debt, I finally realised, who am I kidding? I have an overdraft of approximately £350 and owe £1,900 to my mum.

I'll gradually work my way through these 122 pages, but wanted to introduce myself and my situation. I live in Spain, and for many reasons freelancing is the best way of working for me.
    • My main income at the moment is working on adult chatlines (technically freelance although working for a company). This just about covers rent and bills, but nothing more.
    • I also do occasional copy-editing for an academic publisher - this pays well and I've built up a good reputation with them, but the work is irregular.
    • I also have qualifications in Indian head massage and reflexology. For various reasons, I haven't practised it but am now thinking of doing so at home or mobile.
The chatline job is good for regular income, but let's face it, you don't get rich working for someone else. So I'm trying to come up with other ideas to generate further income. I've thought of doing tarot/psychic readings by email (edit - have now set up website), and Avon. I'm just not sure how to get myself noticed in the vastness of the Internet, and am also getting to grips with a lack of confidence in myself.

So my aim is to increase my income considerably and pay off my debts. I'm prioritising the overdraft (just paid 110 off it which feels like a start!), but would like to start paying my mum off as soon as possible, and start saving as well.

    Hi all.

Amber the more you post on here the further up the rankings you can go also by networking online (4N) will also help. I have been exchanging messages on Facebook with someone who has her own estate agency business in Gran Canaria but she also works with the island's own event/wedding planner (the chap I am going to see and attend his wedding). She has promised to help me with my business - so guys n gals - it will be the pink pound for me from now on:D To be honest I think that's why she contacted me as the wedding/event planner knows that I am struggling with the wedding side of things having no clients :(

Rags - speak to Kim Tucker on 4N - I think she set up Wikaniko (she apologised to me for the behaviour of one chap who was doing the really hard sell on me and then told me that he isnt a Wikaniko agent anyway:rolleyes:).

I am looking forward to The Spring Fair and will be going most days as I have seminars to attend and folks to network with (I have also been promised free tea and biccies). If you fancy meeting up for a coffee or something Snow just let me know. Good luck with the house too.

    Laters all.
