Hi all and welcome to Coffee.

I havent been around because I have been without power - the power went off at 12.40pm on Saturday afternoon and didnt come back on til 2am this morning:mad: It hasnt been fun because I only have electric power no gas so I was absolutely freezing - I spent most of the time in bed fully clothed wrapped in the duvet and a fleecy blanket, I listened to the radio (I dug out my old transistor that I havent used for 12 months) and used my head torch to read the paper. The leccy board have been told that if they cut me off again today that they will be getting a bill for loss of earnings (today I am charging myself out at £50 an hour). I am still thawing out and didnt feel so well today so managed to get an appointment at the doctor who diagnosed mild hyperthermia and he gave me a flu jab to be on the safe side. I managed alright on Saturday because I had managed to boil the kettle (the power came on for 5 mins) and fill the thermos - so I was able to have hot drinks and cupasoup. Yesterday was the pits.

On a good note - I have had my water rates and as I completed another form to say that I live alone, the water board have given me a discounted rate and my water bill is only £2.36:cool:

Welcome to our New Members of the Sloths n Beaver club, and also to those "returning" from being AWOL :rotfl:

I have been busy preparing for the next batch of assignments, working my way through a list of potential clients, re-plotting my business & action plans and ...... working my way through 141 pages of the £100 to £10,000 Part 1 thread

Awesome vibes of positivity & motivation on there and there are some great new / adapted ideas too ... and I notice a couple of "our" members are participating in it (mentioning no names MM & AS ! ) :p I am going to try to catch up with the 20 odd pages on the Part 2 thread, and am seriously debating joining in with this one - I really need to knuckle down & put the harness on :o

"H" - Sorry to hear about your leccie problems, that must have been a nightmare. Really pleased its sorted for now, and hope you get betterer soon :heartsmil

Hope everyone is doing well and moving forward with things ... still not seen some of our other regulars on here since before Xmas - hope you guys are OK ?

Hi GA - yep busted!! The 100-10,000 thread is very inspiring, am planning on handing in my notice at my part-time job and doing the wedding jewellery and buying/selling on eBay fulltime. Am a bit scared though!! Am currently signed off from work with anxiety and depression so don't really want to go back anyway. It's just that final decision !

I'm still about - not much on the SE side and on the 1st of Feb I return to my "day job" after maternity leave - boohiss!
DH has the feelers out for me though and there might be a job coming up not that far from home with a potential payrise of £10-£14k plus benefits... Not to be sniffed at! Downside is that it would mean occassional travel to northen scotland so need to find out how much exactly before seriously considering it... A couple of days a month is doable - more than that and we'd struggle and it would all depend on hubbies job too as he'd have to work from home when I'm away to pick up the munchkin from her childminder :) But if he gets the pay rise he's hoping for and I got this job we'd basically be able to aim for mortgagefree instead of Debt Free in a very short time :)

In the mean time I shall keep plodding on with bits and pieces when they come up I think :)

    Hi all

Mabel - I was once where you are now - I can remember feeling like disappearing (not doing myself in as I am too much of a coward) but feeling desperate and anxious, I wouldnt socialise or do anything that involved speaking to people (thank you prof - you nasty spiteful little toad) but out of that situation (thanks uni for making me redundant) I began to feel a lot better and then had the confidence to set out on my own - there are still days when I wonder if I have done the right thing and then I think back to those dark and desperate days when I just wanted to vanish and think how far I have come since then - I wouldnt swap self employment for the world now, there is no way that I could go and sit in an office, dealing with twerps. The big fear is wondering how to survive on little money but you do manage as you make yourself manage.

Well done JP on the wedding fayres and the holiday - I would love to go somewhere warm, am toying with the idea of taking myself to Lanzarote to a multi-activity place where I can go horseriding all day every day (it would suit me)...its 395 Euros for a week plus flights ontop.

Last night spent ages on the phone ringing round folks to say that the 4N meeting was cancelled today, spent the morning on skype and the phone trying to find a new venue and ringing the venue that we were supposed to be using today..its a long and complicated process.

Hi All, Not posted on here before but I am currently off work ill (being tested for MS) so I think it is unlikely I will be returning to my very stressful job. I get paid until May but will have to have to have set up a business by then. I am currently buying and selling on ebay and Amazon but need to turn this into a bit more of a reliable income. I am not sorry I won't be going back to managing 30 people and spending up to 10 hrs a day in the office but really scared about the future. To be honest my health means I don't have any choice but not sleeping through worry about money (just in the process of organsing a DMP).
I know how you feel moneymabel. Anyway just wanted to say hi.
Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.

Hi Julie-best of luck with your business-any ideas what you are going to do? I'm just dabbling in bits and pieces here and there at the mo! Have you seen the £100-£10,000 thread on up your income? its full of people doing the same as us and lots of useful tips-might see you there. If you need a chat please feel free to PM me-sound like we are in the same boat might as well have a paddle each ;-)

Hi Horace, thanks for the kind words, think i have pretty much decided I'm not going back, only thing that worries me is money obviously as I like knowing exactly what is coming in/out each month and obviously won't have that. Still-if I dont do it now I never will so watch this space :-)
