JP, your stuff is way too good for Claire's accessories.

Had a cracking days takings yesterday but of course am doom mongering today again - kick up backside needed please. I was listening the news this morning and it seems that as retailers we have all done the same thing and cut back on our stock orders and now suppliers are struggling to fulfill top up orders. I have found that with 2 companies this week when I have tried to order, there will be no stock available until the end of November.

I always get a bit upset on Remembrance Day - so many families affected, so many lives turned upside down completely. Although I've thankfully never been personally affected, I feel for those who have

Morning all..I nearly did it again and hit the flippin spam button:mad:

I missed the 2min silence at 11am and had it at 11.02 instead - it was wierd driving past Bournville Lane policestation to see every single copper standing outside with heads bowed.

I had a productive breakfast meeting this morning with more links being sent my way plus I also gave a video testimonial for someone:cool:

JP - I will look at some prices for hairclips..there is a warehouse that I came across that sells gorgeous swarovski crystal hairclips to the trade and I have an incling that they sell them to the trade for more than £3.00. Plus your stuff is way too good for Claire's Accessories which just sells tat (I had some earrings from there once and they fell apart after being worn once:mad:).

JP - a quick trawl of google has thrown up some interesting prices - your tiara pricing is ok but the average price for crystal hairclips (handmade like yours) seems to be somewhere between £22 and £27 (so you could either sell them for £22 or £27 which would be a fairer price because you need to consider the cost of your supplies, the time it takes to make them, the cost of your electricity etc.
  • Hiya Gang,

JP – well done on the website, it’s looking really good !
H – Good to see you’re as full on as always lol, well done on the band management & gig thing – starting to look up for you now…… and WOW…. Florida ….. you really like to do things in style gal ! :D

Nappentass - hope your promotions go well.
Megs- losing teeth with each child …. OUCH !

TCM – Glad you’ve got some new help ….. can’t believe that OH of yours! Do you not have access to a “bolt” ? you could just take him out in the back pasture and make it quick n clean :rotfl:

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone…. Hugs to those I may have. :heartsmil

BIG WELCOME to all our newbies …. Sorry some of us haven’t been very active recently to make you feel more at home ! :D

Well, my temp role came to a premature and quick end, when the person I was covering for suddenly decided to come back with no forewarning… I was meant to be there till the end of the month, so it’s kinda left me in the lurch a bit – from a “regular income” point of view…. And I had really been banking on that money coming in for my budget (my own fault) – so things a bit dicey money wise after the end of this week.

On a more positive side … I’ve had some extra bookings in, which I’ve been doing -! Hence my absence for a while, as I’ve been flat out with both them & the Temp work… I’ve also landed some more for this week & next week which is great, though I wont get the money in until December. :o

My head’s still not in a good place right now, another reason for not posting much – as I really don’t want to keep muttering on about it on the thread…. It doesn’t do anyone any good. What I do want to say, is that I’ve been having a radical re-think of where I am, where I want to get to, and how I’m going to achieve it all. Biggest Mantra being, must work “smarter not harder” – I can’t afford to burn myself out.

I’ve got to prioritise some things now, with the change in expected income – and one of them has to be a least one (if not two) of my websites. These are important, as without them I can’t move the business’s forward – with some of the related work, it wouldn’t exactly give out the right impression. So I need to choose which two (minimum) I can afford to get registered & up ‘n’ running – on the basis of which will give me the best combined “income opportunities & fastest results”. PLEASE NAG ME to ensure I’m getting this sorted!!! :o

I will have to get onto the mods about that flippin spam button..

Hi G..sorry to hear about the temp job, that's a bummer but at least you have other things in the pipeline.

Since you were last here..its not just band management, the possible wedding in Florida (I will believe it when it happens so I am not holding my breath)..I am now organisng a Help for Heroes Day incorporating a Run for Heroes 5km fun run in Swindon - am offering my services free - boy will that look good on my CV:cool: Oh and I have another unpaid job..Marketing Assistant for my local 4Networking group (this will help my business no end:j).

Why is it so cold today, I have a thick cardigan on and a fleece gilet - the fire is on and my little paws are blue with cold:confused::eek:

Good luck G..hope things improve for you soon...123-reg is about the cheapest place to buy a domain name from - avoid 1and1internet like the plague they are awful and will just automatically renew and when you don't renew they set debt collectors and bailiffs onto you:mad: This is a right pain the @rse because you dont actually owe them anything if you have chosen to let the domain lapse.

Greyhoundangel, I have thought of putting him out to pasture on more than one occassion recently! He came in this afternoon pontificating about all that was wrong in the place... i graciously got up, closed the door from the office into the shop, and served 3 very nice customers! He was not too happy at one lady giving me a lovely gift of a towel with a horses head embroidered onto it (it is absolutely beautiful) he said i should not accept gifts as this lady was trying to bribe me! In fact it was the opposite - her daughter was having a confidence crisis with the pony and whatever I said to the child (can't remember) made a big difference to her. I put his miserableness down to jealousy.

Am going to look at flights to visit the mother sometime soon. If I can get a cheapy i will be away in the new year (too busy here in the 6 week window to Christmas)

Horace, the town here stood still at 11 - it was eerie. GHA, am sorry to hear about your job, but maybe this has happened for a reason, to help you kick start more of your own thing? Hugs & hugs & I hope you'll be ok, x

Off to make beef bourbingion (spelt wrong) for tea - i need something indulgant!

PS, thanks for all the support with mr grumpy boots - its good to know that i am not insane!

evening all, glad to hear things are going well for everyone.

I'm having a husband enforced night of tonight. he wont let me work at all, something to do with me not being able to keep my eyes open lol. I'm so tired its unreal. but i have been working late every night trying to get ready for the fairs i have coming up then worrying that i wont take enough and i could really do with the money for christmas. but i cant do alot in the day with having a 4 year old and 13month ols running round so ive been feeling like its a 24hour job. now thinking i should be working not resting, ill be ok after a good sleep though i think.
thankyou for all the advice on the website, now just to get my name known. I'm going to look at my prices again just never been any good at maths, i said times my origanal price by 500 but OH said by 5 wich on some of my more expensive tiaras means i'd be charging less. ill have another look though, thankyou for being so kind about my tiaras im glad people like them.
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed
  • Evening Everyone..

Not been around for a while but it sounds like everyone is doing really well!!

JP - loving the site - and you do need to rest sometimes (however i can't talk :p - I'm the world's worst!)
Horace - fab news about the band etc.. always good to have multiple streams of income
TCM - sounds like business is picking up and it so made me chuckle that you shut the door and just served the customers - leave him to mutter to himself!
GreyhoundAngel - sorry to hear about the job but like they've said it may be just what you need to kick start your websites..

Well I've been working on my new contract and it's been a little strange going back into the workplace after working from home for the last 3 months - however I am loving it! I am very tired though too but that's understandable!

I'm still working on my website, building traffic to the site (without paying for it) and adding more product ranges, I just need to develop the advertising side of things much more now but I'll do that when I stay in hotels with my contract..

Anyhoo best carry on with the site - enjoy the rest of the week. Can't believe it's Thursday tomorrow - where's the week gone?

    x

    Speak to you all Soon..

    Hi Snow

I had a wierd call tonight from someone who was trying to set me up as an agent for Wikaniko (eco friendly products) so I said that it didnt really fit with my business and I dont think he liked it when I said that although I live near the old rover works (he made some comment about there being lots of people to sell to) the people around here are mostly unemployed because there are no jobs especially since Rover closed..anyway he is sending his bumpf and I will read and probably delete.

TCM..good on you shutting Mr GrumpyPants in the office - he probably is jealous of your success, perhaps if he put a Mr Smiley Face on once in a while and was nice to people then his own business would pick up a bit. You reap what you sow and if you sow sour grapes then that is what you're going to get whereas TCM, you boost a child's confidence and are a generally happy sort of person (from what I can see anyway) and therefore you get rewards.

JP..It was on a crafting site years' ago that I read that you add 500% to the wholesale cost (ie. the cost of items that you bought to make). Tell your OH to stick to flying aeroplanes or whatever he does in the RAF because he knows nowt about crafts...although he is right about having some me time and getting some sleep. Get a calculator..I am not so hot with maths either which is why I use a calculator all the time. To work out the percentage see this example 3.00 x 500 % + = so you enter £3.00 x it by 500 click the percent button and then the + button and the equals button and you will see that the clip comes out at £18..£18 is better than £3.00 but £22 or £27 is even better. You need to make a profit otherwise there is no point if you are just covering your costs. I hope you don't think I am cheeky in telling you how to work out percentages on a calculator?
