Naughty girl...you should have it - what if something goes wrong and someone pokes themselves in the eye with a tiara (don't laugh it can happen because people are just sooo clumsy) and they decide to sue - you would be up the creek without a paddle. Check out the craft insurance as it covers you for public liability and product liability. Even if you are selling over the internet you should really have it....there..that's a ticking off from me
I always think too much JP as well so I shouldnt worry about it:rotfl: Hope it helps anyway..don't ask me how I thought of looking for craft insurance because I have no idea:rolleyes:0 -
Wasn't asked about it for the wedding fair so perhaps its just general craft fairs? Did you need it for your fairs Horace?
Will look into it if things pick up but as no-ones buying they can't sue me!!0 -
Mabel - I already have insurance - I have public liability and professional indemnity. I think with fairs that they assume that as you are a business then you have insurance.
I have only done one fair but when I organise fairs myself then I will want to know if people have insurance.0 -
To throw my fourpennith into the ring... I have public liability insurance for the shop as I have members of the public coming in who may fall over etc and that way I am covered, but I recently had thought about making funky dog rugs and was told that i would need product indemnity insurance as I would be "making a product" that the doggy could for example, chew or fall over etc and my public liability wouldn't cover that.
Been really busy Thursday and Friday - a shed load more rugs came in & I still have not started the VAT. Ho hum. Anyway, heading out tonight for the first time in ages for dinner as it was my birthday yesterday (no 0 on the end thankfully!) and that is what I asked the OH for!
Odd George is in a mega grump. I bought him the cheap brand cat food as I am a skin flint and he now won't eat it. I did do the "you should be grateful you little weazel that you have a home" speach but he lay down in front of the fire and snored like a warthog. Has been watching the OH too much me thinks!
Glad the romance still on track H!0 -
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday for yesterday TCM - you kept that quiet:rolleyes:
Hope you have a great time tonight and that the OH behaves himself. As for Odd George - have you thought about taking him to a cat whisperer? He should be grateful that you haven't sold him to the local chinese restaurant where they will turn him into a dish called the cat's miaow or whatever the dish of the day is that day:rotfl:
Romance..is slow...but softly softly catchee monkey:D0 -
I must say I am very excited to find this thread. I am new on here (always read but never wrote) never joined a forum before but this one I had to!!!
I have only had 2hrs sleep last night trying to find ways of improving my financial situation. :-) Had a really bum year and feel things have just got to change. Must say this I have been very good with money lately than ever before :T. I want to work from home and have a few business ideas. However, I would really like to be a coperate event orgainiser. I used to work as a silver service waitress for different events in london. even mobo awards:D It was great:j untill I fell in love and got pregnant 3yrs later and have been a mum ever since.
I have a drive for fun, to me organising events would be fun not work. I dont think I will be able to stop myself. I get more excited about planning my kids partys than they do!! The biggest challenge Is I do not have a clue where to start. Any suggestions welcome. If anybody is in this line of work and need a hand or brainstorming or anything else your welcome. am a jolly mum who doesnt bite:cool:x0 -
welcome to the thread jollymum  there are a few event planners on here so will no doubt be full of great advice for you!

Welcome Jollymum - I organise weddings and corporate events. I was the one at work who always had to organise things so felt after being made redundant that it was the best thing for me to do. Even though I have more than 15 years' experience of organising events from black tie dinners, balls, exhibitions, conferences, motorbike rallies etc I have decided to study for a diploma in event planning, purely to get a logo for my website. Its a home learning course and work gets marked by tutors in the business. Heck, I must like it so much that I am helping to set up a professional body for events and wedding planners.:D
I already have a diploma in wedding planning and thought that another diploma in event planning would give my business some credibility. Talking about the diploma has reminded me that I have a few assignments to write and submit - researching for them is great and it builds up your supplier base.0 -
Thanks for the worm welcome. I have a diary of ideas and a business name to conclude LOL...
I have looked at studying online but there is too much on there. any recomendations? Is it expensive?
Also have you thought about christmas parties? at this time of year there is money to be made I believe but need to advertise inadvance to secure bookings. x0
