I felt the same with my jewellery but I jumped in at the deep end by approaching wedding shops to see if they would be interested in selling it and they both said yes! Does wonders for your confidence- is that something you could try? I do mine on a sale or return basis 60% to me 40% retailer. The brides love the thought that something is being made especially for them.

i am going to try that but ive just found out we are moving to scotland sometime soon so may wait untill i get up there, plus my husband tried to help me out by emailing the wedding shops and they all said no as they are part of franchises or something. I told him though that next time we need to go into the shops and see them face to face with my products as they would be less likely to dismiss me straight away then.
i love your jewellery mabel may even be tempted to buy some after christmas

Hi jp- always better to phone/pop into the shops and arrange an appointment, there are independant shops out there ( both of my stockists are) As for the wedding mag Im afraid it was because I paid to advertise and then you send them photos of your stuff and they MIGHT pick it to be featured, doesn't sound so exciting now lol!
Horace bought some of my jewellery for a prize when she did a wedding fair- if you do want anything PM me and I'll do you the MSE discount :-)
Let me know if you get a website done and we can exchange links.

Welcome to all the newbies...including Martin..single, 41, brown hair and own teeth:D

Mabel - I didn't mean to cop off with anyone at the airport, I had intended spending the whole night reading a Jesse Kellerman novel followed by those of his parents Faye & Jonathan:D Steve..widower, aged about 35 (hard to tell), postman, tall, own teeth and hair - lives near Boston, Lincs. What was wierd: both of us hate heights, both of us hate snakes, both of us love Baileys, Kahlua & Tia Maria - he likes Amarula (have never had it) and Malibu with pineapple (I am not keen on Malibu), we both like reading the same kind of books and watching the same kind of tv. He rattles around in a 5 bedroom house with 1 dog and 2 ancient cats, step daughter aged about 22 lives elsewhere. All I can say is that he was well fit:rotfl: Deffo better than the creature I have at the moment:rolleyes:

Came home to 500 emails most of them junk:rolleyes:

My ad will be appearing in Perfect Wedding soon..they sent me the proof during the week and gave me less than a day to approve it, so I emailed them today to say that it looks ok and that I hadnt replied because I had been away.

    Jobs to do this week:

Pay credit cards..or at least make payments towards them.
Tidy flat - it looks as though a whirlwind has gone through it:rolleyes:
Write a proposal for Studley Castle to put on wedding fairs
Look at coursework - start writing more assignmnets
Follow up on calls and emails - book free seminar on sales.
    Go to bank
    Go to networking on Tuesday
    Go to hospital on Wednesday
  • Hi all,

I'm better at the websites than I am at selling! I feel like I have so much creativity but don't know where to start. I was going to have a website selling handmade wedding stuff like favours, invitations etc. as I made everything in my wedding and the Wedding decorator even bought my centerpieces off me as she said they were so good!

But I thought that I'd start with personalised chocolates and favours. I've been ill this this weekend but I have managed to register a domain and sort out hosting for my new site. So that's a start. I did put two photos of personalised chocolates on facebook and recieved 10 orders straight away but then my printer broke! So I've just been to PCWorld to buy a new one so hopefull can get started this week.

On the plus side though, I paid off nearly £300 on my credit card!!

If anyone needs any website help just let me know.

Sounds like a catch Horace! Did I miss something- I thought you'd got rid of the 'creature' ?

Hi Lisa, well done on your eBay orders and getting your domain name, thanks for the website advice offer , expect I'll be taking you up on that if my web person isn't available sometime! Let me know when you have done your website and we'll sort out a link, expect there will be other wedding business owners on here that would be interested as well.
Wierd how there are lots of us doing wedding related things but not the same things! I do jewellery but not tiaras- jp does tiaras but not jewellery, you do favours and Horace does planning! We're a one stop wedding shop lol!!
