Star - enjoy the book!
Lexxi - Like you, I've been enquiring about business accounts again today. In fact I think I might have rung every financial institution except for Barclays!
Here's my run down...
Alliance & Leicester - 2 years free banking
Abbey - Free for life
Natwest - 2 years free banking
RBS - Charging
Co-Op - Free for 18 months - I think??
Yorkshire - free for 12 months
HSBC - Free if you have their 'direct banking' account
Crikey I've spoke to that many I can't remember them all. I already have an HSBC business Account as I've previously been a sole trader - but as this is a completely new entity I wanted a new account and start everything afresh. Mainly because HSBC wouldn't just change the name on my other account and have told me I have to go through the whole credit scoring system etc.. again.. which has really annoid me - I understand they have to to do their checks but if I'm an existing customer why would they need to go through the whole process again - so I took the decision to make a move..
I don't need any lending facilities and really would probably only get a 'basic business account' if there is such a thing? So I set about ringing round - explaining my situation and then finding out the likelihood of getting an account.
And I have to say Yorkshire Bank came out on top, with Natwest a close second.
I explained my situation to both banks - Natwest have a foundation business account - which is all I really need but having filled out their application form over the phone and had it sent to me - I have to apply for their 'standard' business account which includes a business charge card and then if I get rejected they 'may' offer me the foundation account. I don't want to apply to be rejected and then offered the account I originally wanted..all I want is what I ask for..
Re Yorkshire Bank - they were really good on the phone this morning. I explained my situation and they stated that they will look at everyone individually on a case by case basis. - Which helps!! The only thing that didn't help is that they can't see me till Friday and I have a cheque that really needs to be paid in and cleared for Thursday - but hey ho that isn't going to happen now..
So... I am going to wait for the appt with the Yorkshire - I've asked them to put me on the 'reserve' list incase anyone doesn't turn up or cancels - that way I may get in a little bit before Friday.
The fact that they say they will look at everything individually gives me great comfort - let's hope they deliver on their service...
All i want to do is pay money in, take my wages and earn a decent living - no lending nothing - so why is it always down to a computer!! They need to bring back personal service is banks - that way they can really understand their client and their needs!
Anyhow I'm getting off my soap box and getting some more products added to the site - I have some organic chocolate to add... mmmmmm
Have a good day all..

wow you read quick!!
I have just finsihed my first day as a properly full time self employed person! When I say full time I mean not quite as I managed to get all my work done within about 5 hours. I was sittingat my desk before 8am though and worked fairly solidly until lunch. If i can do that everyday then I will be fine.
Tomorrow I have an article to finsih, one artilce to research, one blog to write, a days news to compile and 10 article topics to come up with. Busy day. But it is soooo nice not to be in that horrible office picking up the phone.
It feels like I am on holiday - I guess reality will kick in eventually.0 -
