Hi Star..
Thanks for the compliments about the site..and yes I have done it all myself - although I will confess that the site is built on an ecommerce platform called Magento and I purchased the main template and I crafted the logo by obtaining the 'world' image from fotolio and building the rest of my logo around it.
But the look and feel has all been crafted by me - which is why it's taken a little while to get it all done - but I am ploughing through it today so it will be official launch time this week :T
One of the things I'd be interested in is, what eco brands do you buy? I'm always on the look out for new products to sell so if anyone has any recommendations please let me know.
TCM - re the hair do - I used to be blonde many years ago and going darker was the best thing I ever did but it took a little while to get used to!
Ok.. off to go keep working on my site..

Itsnow - fabulous website...extremely professional, well done!
Carrie - sorry the move didn't go as planned, hope you're not too close to killing your OH yet!!! I'm sure the teething problems will sort themselves out.
TCM - I know what you mean about cashflow problems! I've not worked much because of DS so we'd started to live off the money i'd put aside for the roofer. He was supposed to come in September but because we'd not heard from him I thought he wouldn't be coming until October (after DH paid). You can guess what happened - he phoned and said he was coming today!!!! DH gets paid in two days, I start working again tomorrow but we needed the money today!! It's been a mad scramble to get the money together.
Please let October be full of work, money and health for us all xx0 -
On a lighter note - I am no longer blonde. This is because I bought hair colour out of Tesco without my glasses. I am now a redhead. Its fine once you get over the glow.
Hehe, that really made me chuckle. I can totally empathise about the glow - mine looks ok in real life (I think), but as soon as anyone takes a pic of me my hair seems to go radioactive
Itsnowtime, your site looks fab, I'm v impressed that you did it all yourself, wow.
As for me, I had a whole big list of things to be done by now, and so far hardly anything has been ticked off. Need to get more stuff onto my site pronto, need to do my tax return for last year, plus filing and about a ton of housework. Oh well, I'll just make a new list ready for when I get home. It's frustraing because during the day when I'm at work, I'm all keen to get on with things which I can't do 'cos I'm at work, but as soon as I get home my enthusiasm seems to disappear!
much work to be done - new sig coming soon...0 -
Snow - your website is fab..what a clever person you are:j
TCM - a chav is a chav and can be male for female. I had gone in a smart skirt, smart shoes, a posh top and bolero so I didnt look too formal and when I came out I felt dirty:rolleyes: I was going to stand in the queue for the anglo saxon gold (in 3 days 10,000 people have queued to see it) but had to go to the bank and then I stuck my head into Tesco where I bought some fruit and veg but made a beeline for the whoopsie shelf..buying items that I wouldnt normally buy that are now in my freezer: pastry, southern fried chicken pieces, loaded potato skins. I also bought other items from the whoopsie shelf that I am going to use today: a large carton of Tesco strawberry smoothie, posh veg (peas/beans with mint and chive butter), a cottage pie, some fresh raspberries. So tonight I am having cottage pie with posh veg, then I am doing a plum and raspberry crumble - as I have plums that need eating and these raspberries, although I can do a red fruit salad with red grapes and strawbs:D
I have just had an email from my accountant as I have a meeting with her next week after we have both seen Brad Sugars, we are heading off to the nearest pub (the peartree at smite - I can book a table for us when I visit them on Wednesday), I have to take everything that I have - my receipts, my book that I note down my mobile phone PAYG payments, my book that I note my mileage in, my bank statements (I need to find some of them because the bank messed me about sending some to me, some elsewhere plus I havent got anything to file them in:rolleyes:).
I must sort out these raffle prizes today - I have decided against offering another on the day co-ordination package regardless of whether it is a military wedding or not. I have also changed some of the people that I had thought of awarding prizes too as well (there's nothing like being decisive:rotfl:).
TCM - I had my hair done on Saturday (I waited for the colour sale at the hairdressers - I time my appointments according to their sales:rotfl:), I am a natural red head but I have a grey patch that becomes almost white (thank you grandma for fibbing and telling me when I was 9 that if I pulled out the grey hair that it wouldnt grow back:mad:). I normally have it coloured with the exact same colour that blends well with my hair but I decided that i would be a shade braver - only the bit that was once white is now looking decidedly orange:eek:0 -
aaargh, it is horrible end of the month deadline time....why do i always leave things to the last minute? I have been really busy the last few days. My insurance article man is piling on the work. I don't think he understood me when I said i was leaving my job in october. I think he thought I was available immediately to write twice as often! But I need to build up a little bit of a buffer for the inevitable wait between leaving my job and being able to invoice for work done.
9 working days to go...:) I really can't wait. I am having palpitations about whether i might have enough work to keep me going, but I already have a new blog to write each week which is a good start.
Been worrying this week that I might become abit of ahermit, stuck at home in my jarmies and no makeup etc. How do you guys manage to get out an about. As a writer there are few opportunities to face the real world.
I do want to make a point of visiting my clients who are close enough. Most of them I have been working with for a year and haven't even spoken on the phone to them! Other than that - the odd visit to the library for research and picking up the kids from school and that will be the extent of my social life. How do you guys stop yourselves from getting lonely?
Speaking of hair - I have been growing mine out and it finally has a decent style. I went from really red, to jet black. Which is black with silver roots right now! I used to cut my own hair with the number 4 clippers (seriously). I loved having it short, I now feel a little anonymous as my hair looks much more normal. But I am enjoying being able to do things with it and my husband loves it. But not the hairdresser bills.0 -
Megs...well done on the work. I don't sit here in my jarmies..I get up and get dressed in proper clothes although today I am in scruffs: jogging bottoms, trainers and a t-shirt and a fleece. I guess I am lucky in that my job does take me out and about if I choose - next week I am out every day:eek:
I have skype so I talk to my friend and mentor nearly every day and she is down in Gosport, its great to chat for free:cool:
Of course I network on here too and catch up with people - it keeps me sane and I don't think of it as skiving. I chill out every lunchtime by watching the australian soaps..I can clear my mind and watch the moving wallpaper, sometimes I try and take a day off in the week and go to the spa even if its just to slob about, or I could do a mystery shop which gets me out too.0 -
Hi all,
Your website is fab itsnowtime-very professional and well laid out-brill!
Talking of hair I dyed mine the other day, the grey was getting rampant and last time I dyed it 'light natural brown' it went ginger so I though sod it and dyed it with Live colour xl Red passion :-) Bright is not the word lol. If any of you are sad like me and watch Hollyoaks then it's about the same colour as Nancys. I love it though :-)0 -
:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
Blimey...that's bright:rotfl:0 -
Hi Everyone
Horace - I chalk events like that up to 'once in a lifetime' (cos you wouldn't intentionally do it again!) however you never know what will come in future because you've put yourself out there and talked to folk
And it's not 'sounding like a snob' - its trying to do the best to build your business - you gotta get yourself into the money flow
Itsnowtime - great website you've done a fantastic job there.
FWIW (and this is something I think every time I walk into the health food shop!) there are so many brands but what are the features of them - for example I'm so sensitive that I daren't try stuff in case I react so I stick to those I know are OK (Everything has to be plant based no petro-chemicals in it) but I'm looking for household products because BB has some kind of contact dermatitis on his hands that flare up (and of course he won't wear gloves!)
Carrie85 - hope you get settled soon so it doesn't affect your work
Mudbath - hope your DS is feeling better - I second the wish for October to be full of work, money & health for all of us - I've got to pay for a training course in November
TCM - welcome to the club - I've henna'd for years and now I have silver underneath it goes an outrageous red
NZmegs - you'll be fine, simply because you'll have the opportunity to do things at different times of day which means you'll meet different people than when you're trying to fit around work and everyones too rushed - and you never know what will happen and come from those meetings
monkey - know the feeling - my SA is nearly done - just gotta go through it and check everything and add in the bits I've missed, which reminds me...
I have some clients this afternoon so bette get busy and squeeze a yoga practice in now before I go up to the centre.
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Self Assessment question - I use my personal mobile now mostly for business, but because of all it's inclusive minutes/texts I can't figure out how much to charge to business or personal (whichever) - What does everyone else do?
