Megs...I mystery shop to supplement my income (money earned goes into my business account for my insurances), I love Clarins..I now have 75minutes on my time to spa card - enough for a treatment:D I have membership of the day spa and will sometimes use it for waxing treatments or massages with facials if I am feeling really flush:eek: - but I don't smoke, I don't drink - I shop like my grandma used to, I keep all my paper and bits of string because they will come in useful one day. New clothes are essential, I need to look my best...the Fenn Wright Manson stuff that I started buying back in April are the only clothes that I have bought in the last 20 odd years:eek: So I think I am entitled - anyway I shall need a different outfit every day next week (or rather a different looking outfit created by mixing and matching what I already have;))0

Hi all,
TCM- hope you manage to sort things with OH one way or the other. The riding crop is a v good idea :-)
Horace well done on your bargains! That breakfast club sounds a bit like a cult- new member training .... Hmmmm initiation rituals ?? Lol at least you made some contacts.
Am seriously thinking of dropping prices on my website- just to see if it makes a difference at all to sales. Was thinking if it doesn't I can always put them up again coz as it's bridal you don't tend to get repeat customers that often! was considering five pounds off bracelets and ten pounds off larger necklaces. Would bring most bracelets down to £30 ( or does £29 sound better?) and necklaces to £60. Obviously it would mean a cut in profits but not a daft one and some profit on some sales is better than a lot of profit on none!
Any opinions gladly recieved!0 -
Well I've done it anyway! basically the new prices are materials+packaging+time to make x 2.5 whereas before it was x3. x3 was the standard it seemed according to a lot of jewellery forums but now a lot of people are dropping to x2.5 . Hopefully it will work!0

How about £29.99 and £59.99 ?
Everyone else seems to do it to try to make stuff sound cheaper.0 -
Thanks Paul-yeah i did consider that but thinking of places like Iceland (the frozen food place not the country)where you have the £1 promotion £1 sounds cheaper than 99p now! have updated the site and put prices at £29 and £590

Hi everyone...
I'm now back from my mad weekend. It was absolutely fantastic! I loved the meeting and I'm really glad that I stayed for the training on Saturday it was definitely worthwhile. Olivia (Newton John) and her hubby Amazon John - were fantastic!
And.. they came to part of the training on Saturday too - they are both so inspiring and you can see why the are so trying to protect our rainforests.. I loved it!
TCM - re OH give him a good kick up the a*** - don't you think they sometimes do it just to get a reaction! It's all bloody mind games.. You do what's best for you hun!
Horace - re BNI - It's never something I've really looked at but when I look at that price it's not something I'd do - like you say you can invest £575 on something much better. Why not have a look for some more local networks in and around your area - or better still (if you have the time) start a networking event and build it up - that way you can have an element of control and the opportunity to gain many contacts..
Moneymabel - good idea to test the pricing on the site. I sometimes also do 'offer's e.g. Free Delivery - this week only. 20% off this week etc.. that sometimes helps drive traffic and ultimately sales
Paul & Greyhound - not sure we've met on the boards before but :hello:
Re my other nightmare on Friday before I left for London -'My FREE trail that is NOT a FREE trial'.... You will be pleased to know after the final email they have requested I return the product to them (before the 15th Oct) and then I wont get charged - although I am going to cancel my card aswell just to try and stop it - you never know -they may be crafty..
I think the fact I have now passed it on to Consumer Direct and Office of Fair Trading it may have got them thinking!!
It's been a mad weekend and I now have a more hectic week next week...
I have a couple of Interviews (at least) next week for possible 'contract's / Job's' - now I'd prefer to to take the 'contract' route as that is why I have set up my own business.
Alongside my site I'm also a Training Consultant, and as it will take a little while for the site to build and generate a good income I need to undertake some contract work in the meantime. - In fact I'm quite looking forward to it - it keeps my hand in!
and.. on that note I'm off to do some interview prep and work on the site..
Hope you've all had a fab weekend.!!
xx0 -
Good luck for the interviews itsnowtime and thanks for the offer idea- I did do an offer in a mag ad for a free garter charm if they spent over £30 but never thought of actually doing that on the site (doh!) will see if things pick up in the next couple of weeks and if not will put the offer on the site :-)0

Horace - I hope I didn't come across as rude....I was just being tongue in cheek. I like nothing better than a good old shop and I am also an expert at sniffing out a bargain!
I have done mystery shops in the past too - but every time one comes up in my area it gets snapped up by someone else. I will have more time to devote to it in the future so I might sign up to a few other sites as well.
Hope you all had a good weekend -0 -

Megs..you sounded like my mate Alison who laid into me back in May for spending £500 on some clothes (again FW&M which were half price) and told me to take them back...I ignored her too:rotfl: I will only buy their stuff if I have money off:j Yes, there is nothing like a good spend.
Had to go to Tesco today - I needed loo rolls and a few other bits so wandered past the whoopsie shelf and came away with two chicken breast fillets, 5 sirloin steaks, 4 mini scotch eggs. 4 of the steaks are in the freezer - 1 I was going to eat tonight but didnt fancy it so will cook it tomorrow and serve with jacket spod and salad. I don't normally buy meat in Tesco but if I do then it has to be from the whoopsie shelf:rotfl:
Re: Mystery shopping the firm I work for will even ring me up and offer me shopping although the nice lady Rachael that I used to speak to has now left and the folks who have taken over are not so customer friendly:rolleyes:
Well I am off out and about this week - tomorrow I am going to Matara which is a gorgeous wedding venue (although you can have a funeral there too) near Stroud - an eco-friendly place.
Last night I was on facebook chat for ages talking to a chap in Ohio - he gave me a recipe for baked steak. Brown the meat on all sides - sling in a roasting tin/casserole dish cover with tomato paste and tomato sauce (not sure if he meant ketchup or chopped tomatoes), add seasoning, sliced onion and peppers and cook in oven (low heat) for a couple of hours at least..remember to baste the meat in the juices every hour to make sure it doesnt dry out
Thought this might be useful for TCM.0
