DGARRAGHTY wrote:Yes, I too have noticed you can't seem to get rid of the time elapsed counter while watching videos. This is extremely annoying and worse than an on-screen channel logo because the thing is continually changing. I have e-mailed Genus about it but received no reply. It's also annoying that there is no resume play or proper fast forward/rewind facility. It's all too easy to push the little joystick to jump 30 secs and end up playing the next video and then having to start the other one from the start again. I have tried the TV output which is in NTSC. The spec of the device claims it can do PAL, but I can find no way of changing the output to PAL? Are there some hidden menus we aren't aware of? Also, the left and right audio appear to be reversed. Having used the thing for a few days I would rate it at 9/10 for picture quality, 6/10 for sound quality, and 2/10 for features/usability.
Has anyone found a way of pausing play or fast forwarding? I've loaded a film onto it but everytime I move the joystick left or right it starts off again at the beginning.
Also what sort of rechargable battery does it have? Can you overcharge it? How would you replace it when it gets worn out?
The instuctions are poor. Their web-site is no help at all.0 -

OK if you read a bit further back in the thread you'll see that you need to keep your finger pressed on the joystick (left << 30sec at a time) (right >> 30secs at a time) if you keep you finger pressed for a little while you'd be amazed at how far back/forwards you go LOL.
lithium ion battery - don't think you can overcharge it. I kept mine connected for 24hrs, as I read somewhere that you can get longer battery life before your next recharge if you give it a good charge to star with. After that I charge it for just the normal 3-4hrs when it runs out. Can't replace it as yet but shold last three plus years. Hope this helps0 -

I'm wondering if mine is faulty. I have found that if you press on the joystick it will pause, and then press again to restart, but as soon as I press it left or right the film goes back to the beginning. Is there a special knack that you need? Is anyone else finding that they are having difficulty with this?
Should I take mine back?0 -

I bought 2 of these and have just recharged and tested the second. This one fast forwards and rewinds just as you have all described---- I shall have to take the first one back to Currys. Thanks all for your help.0

Same prob with MP4 with mine , I uses the software for the PSP to convert my AVI to MP4 , now having created it , when I select the video , the screen just clears off. I too agree that in an ideal world such a player should never be priced for more than a 75£, and thats with all the cables and case etc. The only thing great about this player is the screen. The videos look great in it (the ones that work) . Soundwise my XDA2 does a better job. If you try to record from a DAB radio , or an analogue source through the line in cable, it creates mp3 at 64kbps however there is noise artifact at the background. Everything recorded sounds like Technotronics on it. I recommend recording at medium to high source volume though. The photos take 2 seconds to load each (it is because I have a 7.2 Mpix camera so the photos are 2 mb each) . Most annoyingly the unit itself takes 6-7 seconds to start. And sometimes you wonder whether its starting or stopping. But if you shelled out 50 pounds for the screen then its a great idea, but there is a high possibility that you may already have a PDA or a phone that could play movies anyway. So spend the 50 pounds only if you need it. As an MP3 player its sound is equivalent to MP3 players that sell for 20-25 quid on EBAY.Inside I am THINKING.0

Do you let the battery run down completely, or top it up when it's about half full so you don't run out?0

I bought one - dont like it. Very comploex to use; keeps shutting down mid way. Can I simply return it to Currys for a full refund? (Its still within the 7 days)0
