When the oranges are boiled up they are easy to break up and mash, just takes a bit of time, but it's a lovely cake

Yes, or a potato masher perhaps even and electric whisk might work
If you find there are bits of skin you cant mash you can cut them thro with a knife, take them out or leave them in. It does seem a bit weird the first time you make the cake, using whole oranges with skin and pith but it works fine

I always make this with just plums if I cant get greengages, its a Nigel Slater recipe

    Almond greengage and/or plum crumble

    serves 4-6
    plums, greengages or a mixture - 1kg
caster sugar - 3 or 4 tbs, depending on how sweet your fruit is
    For the almond crumble:
    plain flour - 120g
butter - 85g, cut into cubes
unrefined golden caster sugar - 4 tbs
    ground almonds - 4 tbs
Set the oven at 175°c/gas 4. Rinse and stone the plums, removing any stalks as you go. Toss the fruit in a deep baking dish with the sugar. Whizz the flour and butter in a food processor, then, when the mixture resembles fine, fresh breadcrumbs, add the sugar and almonds. Tip on top of the fruit and bake till the fruit is bubbling under the pale, golden crumble. About 40-45 minutes.

Hi floyd-Thankyou for that you i love crumbles,so i think that recipe might get used.
Hi zippy-thanks for the merge didnt know there was another thread, how do i check that before posting a new thread?

Im not too keen on mild curries like kormas, prefer ones with a bit of added spice!
I do like the idea of something sweet though, yumyum!

Don't worry yourself at all! If you think about Old Style, nine times out of ten someone has previously asked the same question :) After a while you will learn thread titles etc. I remember being in awe of people knowing how to find stuff! :p:o

This thread - i searched but couldn't find anything is a brrrilliant guide from Squeaky. If you look there, it taught me all I know :D
