spent most of afternoon feeling sick in tummy after adding up the figures actually wonder what have i acheived in the last 10 months if anything? debt is now bigger than when i started due to having to borrow more :-( :-(
I HAVE TO GET ON TOP OF THIS AND FIX
Hi Mrscmr - Im still lurking...
So, since Nov 2008, you are £3k worse off - look at it from another point of view - how much would you have normally spent in 10 months - probably far far far more that this. 3k is great - you ARE going in the right direction - next time it will be a reduction, not an increase!
You have adapted well to some seismic change in you life.
Keep going, and keep spreadsheeting. Do it monthly, and assess everything monthly. Its grim, but when you start going in the black - you will continue to keep going
. Keep trimming things back - I got annoyed with myself today when I went for a cup of tea with school mums today (one had just had bad news about her husbands job). I didnt have breakfast, so bought at scone with butter and jam. I was charged 35p for the Jam !! - I brought the jar home, will finish and wash and refill it and not pay the 35p next time (the mum with the husband in tricky job position, also bought a scone, didnt finish her jam, and didnt take it home. She is still in ostritch mode!!!).
Im starting to wiffle - keep going, keep spreadsheeting, and keep smiling - you are loved and have people to love.

Sorry to hear about your calculations, but as the previous poster said, you have been cutting back and you have had a really tough time with finances so you should be proud that you have only added that amount to your debt. Last year I added approximately £12k to my debt  whilst thinking I was cutting back, so you are doing far better than what I am.
Hope your OH does get back into the UK soon. I am sure you will get some news on the job front soon, you sound like a person who bounces back and any employer will recognise this.

Hi MrsC - sorry your debt went up instead of down. I felt really down when I had to add £4k to my sig cos my cars died... these things happen. I would sit down tho and try and work out if there is anything more you can cut... I am having to get stricter and stricter on myself (and the rest of the family) the longer this dry unemployment spell continues...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

As everyone else has said you are doing sooooo well, you should be extremely proud of yourself! :A At least what wages your hubby earns does go to the bills.
A friend of mines husband went to the pub on Friday morning and has been there ever since, well apart from being brought home at night. He smashed the van he used for his work and it was actually purchased by my friend and him as he smashed his work van about 4 months ago and they obviously wouldn't buy him another. They are after having another baby and she is back at work part time. Her wages don't even meet the mortgage payment and they have no food in the house.
At least you have your hubby at weekends and he listens some of the time, it could be a lot worse.0 -
thanks all peeps... you are what keeps me going! XXXX to u all.
well progress... i DID some paid work! ha ha - well 2 hours of it. Then i had what i thought was going to be a 'bad work phone call' but infact turned out just fine! the lovely man i do work for occasionally was sooo lovely and understanding. So i get to do the job i was putting off and also very possibly some new work v shortly. not gonna make me a fortune but better than a kick in the teeth!
think that i have calculated incorrectly and that the 3K added on is infact only 1.5k so not as bad as thought!
spent this afternoon juggling mostly [not literally]!

Oh well done on all your news today. Even if the debts' gone up a tiny (relatively) bit, your spending at least must have reduced massively and you've brought in over £14k in ppis/ebay, which is a part time salary anyway, so big achievements all round.
