cleaning vertical blinds

I have tried allsorts to clean ours. In the end I bought new slats which were not too expensive for a new look.
I would suggest a damp sponge and some of the stain devils. Tried on a small area first.0 -
have vertical blinds and what is the best way to clean them please0

My mum puts hers in the washing machine on a gentle wash in little net bags. Might not the best way but they're looking alright after years of use and a black cat shedding all over them0

We have a black cat as well and he likes to look out the window, so every so often we have to use those sticky roller things to clean off the hair.
I was thinking about washing them in the bath as suggested previously here as they could do with a wash.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
Ok.....I have read most of the reviews on how to clean my once was white vertical blinds so I took the plunge, started with the smallest window in my house and used Oxi clean powder that I use in my washing machine ( the one in the pink tub), filled the bath a bit with tepid water just enough to cover slats, put in 2 scoops of powder and mixed well. I haven't washed my blind since I have had them which is (approx 8 years) so the were very discoloured and had mould at the bottom. I had an extension built last year so that might explain why they were filthy. I unhooked them leaving on the top hooks and weights in them and placed them in the bath, I gently rubbed the bottom bits where the weights are with a nail brush and left them to soak, went and cleaned the windows whilst they were soaking, on returning to the bathroom the water was disgusting colour, I lifted the blinds one by one above the bath and showered them off with cold water then placing them in the sink to drain some water off. I placed kitchen towel on the windowcill to catch the drips whilst they dry. I cannot express my sheer joy as to how clean they look, no fraying at all, I'm now having a cuppa whilst another lot in soaking in the bath, I will clean the windows then hang them back up the same way....had to come and share my tip as I was so impressed with the result 💋💋💋0

Remove the offending blinds and put them in the wash. Or use baby wipes...saves spending a fortune on the people advertising 'cleaning blinds'!0 -
My vertical blinds desperately need a good clean but was advised not to use water on them at all to clean them by the manufacturer. They cost an arm and a leg a few years back and know i cant afford to replace them so i get round it by using the brush attachment on my vacuum cleaner and 'dust' them this way.
However, it is a pain as the hose isnt long enough and i have to put the vacuum cleaner on a step ladder.
They dont get done often. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
