    Morning All,

Joe and grandad had a ball at beavers last night and ive been asked to help on Sunday handed flyers out at the local festival thingy. Joes coming to help in his beaver uniform so i hope its dry on Sunday. It gets us out of the house and is free!

As my dad was at beavers with Joe i cooked for him as well last night. Used the steak plate pie that was in the freezer, has to buy more pots though from the corner shop, wasnt to bad at a £1, even if they were a little soft.

Going to have a busy weekend, really need to finish Joes room and then tidy the hallway, it looks like a bomb has gone off and is driving me crazy.

I just really want my internet for at home! Ive already started looking at Octobers budget as Christmas is coming up fast and i want at least two weeks off with munckin. Hoping to go to a panto and maybe a show up town. Im also hoping they have the christmas fair up town again, even though it was busy and expensive last year it was a really nice evening out, esp after when we had a drive around london to see the christmas lights.

Anyway, should stop dreaming about christmas and actully earn some money for it!
  • Ok, I slight moral dilemma,

I have a little bit of old gold which includes chains that I bought for my dad when I was kid. First one is a flimsy one, and the second one is a bit better. The one is has now is the one he wears every day – which cost about £300. He first said I shouldn’t get rid of them as they tell a story – which they do in a way. But on the other hand, they are just sitting in my jewellery box. They are broken/stretched, etc.

Question is, would you sell them to one of these gold companies?

(Im thinking I should just get rid)

    Hi Angie,

Inspirational stuff - just read your entire diary! Keep going, your doing a wonderful job! Regarding the jewelry, it's a tough call to make - gold is worth more at the moment than ever before, but the sentimental value is obviously worth more perhaps? Maybe speak to your Dad and see if he's happy with you selling them? Or is this out of the question?

I did speak to him and he said well you have to keep them, But he didnt even know they were still around. He then said i can do what i like with them. I just dont want to do it and then feel bad. But at the end of the day they are broken and would probily cost more to fix than i will get for them.

    Oh i hate making desisions!
  • I think if that's the case then perhaps i'd sell them. I'd feel guilty, but at the same time, it's not like you're selling them to fund needless purchases, but to help your situation. Maybe get a quote for fixing them and see how bad it is?

Ive decided, they are going. They are not needed, dad wont be wearing them again. Hes got his nice one now. So theres no way he will go back to these. They are so flimsy!

Plus i need the money to get rid of this debt. Its time for me to stop playing at getting the debt down and sort it out once and for all!

If you fixed the chains what would you do with them? If your dad has one he wears all the time, he'd forgotten about the others and even if you fixed them no-one would wear them, then maybe it's worth getting a price.

Are they of sentimental value - you associate some great moment with them or guilt value - you're afraid your dad might be disappointed if you sell them. That's very different reasons to keep or sell.

There's some stories on here about various companies and good/bad experiences so maybe worth a look at that.

I bought the chains for xmas pressies. Worked so many hours in the butchers when i was younger to buy them for dad as he has always wanted a nice chain. Then about 4 years ago i finally managed to get a real nice one, but it did cost over £300.
It is a nice story kind of, you can see the difference of the quality over the years as i earnt more money. One is so thin and stretched now though even if it was fixed it would be so fragile you couldnt wear it. Even if they were fixed they would just go back in the jewellery box and forgotten about for another few years. I suppose i could keep the stronger one for Joe when he gets older  Might be a nice thing for Joe too keep? Esp as dad isnt getting any younger!
  • hello,

woke up this morning with a lump on my top eyelid, it hurts every time i blink! have a doctors appointment for the 26th as im not allowed any time off. I just hope it doesnt get any worse. Going to the chemists to see if theres anything i can buy over the counter at lunch.

no real news, i have £20 left for the month, this is just for food and spends. I have my travel money put aside so need to be well planned for the rest of the month.

    Hope everyone is well!
  • Ooh - sounds like a sty? Old wives tale says to touch it with a diamond - failing that the chemist should be able to give you some cream (if thats what it is!!)
