After ending my 2 year fixed with Lloyds TSB I just renewed mine yesterday with A&L for 3.49% fixed for 2 years with £650 fee.

    Thought it wasn't too bad a deal ! ;)

2 years is too short for me , but it all depends on your circumstances ,

Who knows what the climate will be like in 2 years time though :rotfl:

2 years to short for me too, - think by then the rates will be a lot higher. - just can't see a no fee 5 year fixed getting lower than 3.95%, just had my application form in today so will complete that and send the paperwork off today, local searches were started yesterday so they should be sorted in a week or two. Finally looks asif I'm getting somewhere now!

I was told that I needed to pay the £340 upon application, is this what everyone else has done? Our LTV is around 40%, would they do a physical check do you think?

Also, I read a post regarding the SVR, you are not tied to this mortgage following the fixed rate are you?

Sorry, another question, does anyone know how long the application takes to process?
    Thanks;)
  • They processed mine on the phone there and then. Took about 1 hour 10 mins on the phone, and that included setting up a current account. I was credit checked over the phone, paid the valuation fee, and subject to a suitable valuation result, I believe the funds are mine! (The small print does mention something about additional credit checks being necessary in certain circumstances...)

    Basically, it's pretty quick!

  • (They sent me the paperwork for the mortgage to sign the following day, and that has now been returned).
