No problems for me either. Have logged on at 2 or 3 different computers at different addresses and all OK. Being logged on at the same time didn't seem to be a problem.

  • Thanks to all. Maybe to be on the safe side she can connect to ours initially with her laptop & then go use her own IP address - in case they check the computer?
    Tis the MSE way! :)

I saw an advert through work recently where by access is free if you log on at your local public library - I don't know if this is the case for all local authorities but worth a try
  • The Irish census for 1901 is now on--line & is free! :money:

It joins the 1911 census which is already available.

What I would really like to do is create a family tree; not on my computer, but out there in cyber space, where others could use it.
(like keeping you emails in hotmail, having an entry on facebook, pictures in flickr etc.)

Ideally everyone could have "look but do not touch" access.
It would be nice if "viewers" could also down load a tree.
[ I have seen trees printed from a xxxxxx.doc (ie Word) in vertical format; something like:

    ....1greatgrandfather(details)
    ....1greatgrandmother(details)
    .......2greataunt(details)
    .......2great uncle(details)
    .......2gandfather (details)
    .......2grandmother(details)
    ...........3Aunt
    ...........3Uncle
    ...........3Mother
    ...........3Father
    ...............4Sibling1
    ...............4Sibling2

You get the idea new data can be slotted in easily at the appropriate place.- in a tiny font it can go to about 15-20 generations before falling off the RHS - so that is back to 1600/1700 :j].

Anyone know if this is possible, hopefully for free ?

Legacy allows you to produce a text file in this format. They have a free version I believe http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/
ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away :)
  • Just got this in my in-box, it's as the title says really. 30 minutes before every England match in the World cup, FindMyPast will open up their records for 3 hours. You need to register first but it's free.
    Happy hunting

Hi, I am wishing to do my Family tree and am not wishing to pay a fee for every family member name as some have been false leads so wondered if anyone could help me find the best way to do it. Thank you in advance for your time and help.
