Hang on, shouldn't this question have been posed on the already confusing Motoring and Public Transport bit?Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

But the driver would be going anyway?
And to suggest moving jobs is ridiculous and i think you probably know that.
The train and bus are going anyway so should they be free also.
Living 40miles from work with only expensive public transport as an option is ridiculous.
Personaly I would not be happy with a £45 costs of going to work or being dependant on someone else so I would take steps to resolve that
The sensible choices are.
Get a job closer,
Move. ( or rent somewhere during the week it would be cheaper)
Learn to drive and get a car.0 -
I think m should pay k whatever he would pay for the public transport. He will at least presumably get home more quickly.
If he doesn't like the leaving time he could get public transport home and pay for the trip into work.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

£20 per week or £100 a month. The car owner has the journey regardless and should be greatful for anything however the passenger has to realise that without the car owner they would be way out of pocket.
So go on tell how much is passing hands currently.0 -
Anybody here know anything about exhaust manifolds?:pLet us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

Why should m pay anything?0 -
recently one of my friends had a slight accident with a work colleague in the passenger seat, there was no damage to the cars involved. the following day the colleague put in a claim for whiplash. So maybe the insurance payments would also need to be included in the travel cost?0

I did think about that & TBH it would put me off giving a regular lift to someone. If they are sharing the costs per mile then it might be worth it but for free & to put your NCB at risk & your insurance premiums in general, NO WAY:eek:
For that reason alone I wouldn't do it.0 -
