Thanks, but it's already enabled - those sliders are just volume, there don't appear to control whether they're enabled or not (see previous post)My TV is broken!

As I said before, I think that you will need a specially wired lead;

GS - I don't think thats specially wired, just a standard mini-audio cable which I assume is similar to what FFay is using already?!0

I have swiped the cable that my colleague uses to run audio from her PC to her monitor.My TV is broken!

Does it look like this?

On my iPod (Classic video) the only way I can get sound from the headphone socket to another input is to use a special lead.
On one end it has a 4-way mini jack plug which does video and audio left and right.
At the other end are 3 x RCA jack plugs that connect to my stereo system or TV.
The 2 audio RCA connectors can also be connected to an RCA/mini-jack coverter to connect to a laptop soundcard input if needed.0 -
Agreed. But Ipod to laptop is Audio - Audio. The RCA audio just splits the stereo audio (and video if there?) then the converter just changes it back for connection purposes. It's not actually doing anything with the audio.0

Cable looks like post 46, but is longer and has a chunky bit near each end, like a power supply cable. IIRC it's where they wind the cable round for some reason. Sorry, my electronic terminology isn't up to much... I want to say resistor but that doesn't make any sense

I also tried one like this (didn't fit very well)

That is just a stereo cable, if you have a video iPod then it is wired up slightly different.
Take a look at this to see how they differ:
