Bear_family wrote: »There was a news story in the London Lite tonight about how the government are proposing to cut women's maternity leave down to 6 months from 9 but increase paternity to 4 months so men have more of a hands-on roll. Said it would cost billions so they probably won't do it. What are breast-feeding mother's suppose to do?
The proposals are something like 6 months for women at 90% pay and 2 weeks for dads at 90% pay
plus and aditional 4 months at 90% pay plus 1/2 statutory for whichever parent choses to do the aditional 4 months i.e either mum or dad. So i guess it could turn out to be 10 months for mum if dad didn't want to take a turn at looking after bubs.
Thats how i understood it anyway0 -
BF, any improvement with your line manager yet?
Thanks for asking. She's not really said anything to me, other than (that's so cute I want to vomit) referring to my other half wearing a baby carrier with a teddy in for 20 mins to get used to it. She also told me I should sit next to a certain client when the team went out for lunch today so we could talk about babies (his wife is due in a week) but on the other end of the table so she didn't have to listen. Do these type of things count as harrassment?
I just know she feels uncomfortable me talking about my pregnancy for 2 reasons.
1, she hasn't got a clue
2, the conversation doesn't revolve around her!
Had an interesting conversation with my facilities manager who asked if my working hours were ok as I could change them to suit me and lots of other interesting facts.
One heads up if anyone is around paint or printers in an office. Stay away from paint because of the solvents and don't change toner cartridges because of the chemicals. Learn something new every day.
How are you, elle?

Yep they'd be borderline harrassment...
Not the "sit next to x" but "at the other end of the table so I don't have to listen to you". And "that's so cute I want to vomit" is definitely out of order... sorry but how did she become a manager???
Make a note of them and times etc she said them - let her dig a deep deep hole for another week or so and then contact HR and say you want this addressed and you're putting in an official complaint.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
