  • Shelvis, the cake is just beautiful! Well done you!

My MW's had never seen anything like my cake and all loved it! Only thing is it was so beautifully made, I couldn't bear to dismantle it and when I did, Jamie had moved on to the next size of nappy! :rotfl:

Hi all.. Sorry, not feeling very chatty tonight..

Why is it you feel fine until someone mentions you don't look it, then you feel rubbish? Each time I wake up, either in the morning or a nap, I feel more knackered than when I started :(

My bump is all in the middle and it seems when I'm lying on my left side (how i usually am on the sofa), bump is slumping to the side and really pulling on my right side which now feels very crampy when I get up and I can't stand up straight. Am propping it up with a cushion now.. Do those wedge cushions make any difference? I've got a V pillow but can't really work out how to use it and always wake up in a very different position to how I fall asleep (usually on my back with pins and needles! :().

Is there any truth in you feeling knackered if baby is having a growth spurt? Everyone's been saying I look much "more pregnant" this week than last..

I don't feel like I'm eating very well right now - ate all the fruit and just not been shopping again for more yet - so I need to change that from tomorrow (Tesco dash at lunchtime). Main meals are fine (cereal, toast, two ham salad buns then pasta for tea), it's just the snacks which need work..

    Sorry to whinge.. *sigh*

AF, I didn't want to eat anything in labour but my sister bought a bag with crisps and lucozade and things in... She was with me for over 12 hours though so I bet she wished she'd bought more... I shared my toast with her after the baby arrived!

Elle... I think it does take it out of you when the baby has a grow... And I know what you mean about it pulling your belly... I tend to lie slightly leaning forward to take some of the weight off the top side...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Elle, I agree with krystal that leaning forward a bit helps with the pulling, with the V pillow I suggest sort of straddling it so one end is under bump, middle is between knees and other bit is a bit like a tail :p
feeling ill - this morning on the GMTV/bbc brekkie not sure which it said hay fever season was starting early and people were already suffering, I had woken with a bit of a sore throat which just got worse as day went on and I kept sneezing and sore eyes too, I'm sure its psychosematic coz Dad has hayfever worse than me n he was fine today!

Clearly my hayfever has improved.. I've been sneezing randomly for weeks and it only occurred to me this morning when I saw the news (BBC ;)) about it that that's what it'll have been! In fact, that might be what my sore eyes were about last week too..

Mine started when I was 13/14, was at it's worst when I was 16 (just in time for my GCSEs - grand!) then I finally got something which helped it - nasal spray, the tablets did nothing for me and I tried 6-7 types! - and it's gradually got better each year since. Always March to June, then I'm fine for the rest of the summer.

I did ask the GP when I was first pregnant in June last year if I could still use the spray and I *think* he said yes, but I better remember to ask the midwife next time I see her.

When do newborns sleep in their big cots? (before they're in it every night, I mean). Do we need to buy the cot in time for baby's arrival or do newborns just sleep in moses baskets / cribs for a while?

It depends, elle. Poppy never went into her cotbed in the nursey until she moved out of our room at 8m. Other people use the cot from day one in the nursery and never have baby in with them.

Jamie started off in the Moses basket and is now in a swinging crib in our room but we have the cotbed already set up (just because I wanted the room complete pre-baby).

Elle I think nasal sparys and eye drops are ok in preg (check pack just in case obv) I only started with hayfever at about 16/17 gets worse with each year along with all my other allergies
My sis has had really bad hayfever for as long as I can remember except when she moved to leeds after uni - no idea why we just assume whatever set her off worst doesn't grow round leeds not sure what its like now she's in hull
Chris was in his crib for a 2 or 3 months, I didn't want to put him in his own room when he got to big for it so put him in travel cot in our room until he was about 4 mths then he went in next room in his cot bed (which we only bought once he'd got too big for crib)
