Sorry, was off trying to book a hotel for DD's 21st in April. Her sister has bought her tickets to see Pink at the O2 in December so I did the hotel. I found some cheap ones but decided on the Hilton for her as a treat.
As for people taking the p!?! out of the system, don't get me started. We live on a small developement of 40 houses, they range from £400k-£600k so it took alot of hard work to get here. There are 3 Housing Association houses in our cul-de-sac which I have no problem with (my best friend lives in one) but one woman has 6 kids, claims everything, doesn't work and her boyfriend moved in 6 months ago.:mad:Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
My mum and dad WERE homeless when my mum was preg with my sis and then again when she was preg with me
My dad's jobs used to come with a house/flat so when he got made redundant on both occasions he had a few weeks to find a job and house!
Thank god they got one both times, I'm sure they wouldn't manage it now it would be scabby B&B more than likely!0 -

We are home - eventually...we were released about 4.30pm yesterday after another traumatic day.
We are both well but to be honest I can't sit down at the dining room table to post. I am thinking of you all though and I am making notes of things so I don't forget to tell you!
Will find a position where I can post while feeding soon I promise.
Quick question Krystal - Benjamin is feeding really well but is very windy and reluctant to give it up...any tips other than perseverance? I have got some infacol but am a bit reluctant to get tied to it so soon?please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Searching, up here, 'going homeless' seems to be the only and accepted way to get a council house! I know folk who pretend to split up (so the one not 'goin omeless' can still work) or just both of them quitting their jobs so they can 'go omeless'.
AND, the house next to us was a omless house for 3 bloomin years of hell for us! Weekly letters of complaint sent, daily phonecalls, nightmare!
In one way it peeves me off, in the other, it is the only way to get a council house. We were told after DS1 was born that it was an 8 year wait just to get on the list!
I have nothing against people who end up in council housing because of their circumstances or events outside their control - but people who live off benefits and in council housing through lying or CHOOSING not to work... sorry but that does annoy me. I lived with my Ex's parents for several years whilst we saved for a deposit for a house... I don't see why others can't do the same.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Totally agree with you... new builds here too - about 1/3 housing association owned - now again most of them are really lovely people who we socialise with so long as they don't tell us how much they pay in rent because I cry when they do- but SOME of them have a 4/5 bed house, with garage and large gardens etc worth in the region of £400k upwards and pay less than £80 a week rent... one couple springing to mind have 1 daughter, he works... she doesn't. WHY do they deserve a 5 bed house??? A 2 or 3 bed I could understand but 4 or 5????? And she always has nice cars - sorry but if you can afford to buy 2 year old cars you can afford more than £80 a week in rent!
Oooo i started ranting again... can we change the subject - it's really pushing up my BPDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Searching, we wern't technically overcrowded as we stayed with DH's parents who had a 3 bed house BUT, the 3rd room was and still is full of junk so we couldn't use it ever. All 3 of us were stuck in a tiny room. Plus, I absolutely hated it there. DS1's first christmas was spoilt by MIL grabbing him off me (as she did quite a bit) and holding him on her knee to open his presents. Every time I tried to get him back, she would literally pull him back, it was a tug of war! And DH never supported me while we stayed there. And his mother didn't work so was there 24/7. She used to just barge into our bedroom with washing without knocking. After Christmas (DS1 was 4/5 months) I told him we either move out together or I was going on my own. Come April we finally moved into this house. But my MIL is a horror, hence I don't actually talk to her much.
MFD, with my two they had to be kinda tipped back then up to get their wind up, or I had to lie them down on the sofa, rub their bellies and try again. Oh and back patting never worked, they had to be rubbed at the top of their chest (exactly like me when I need a burp!). I don't think winding babies is medical advice by the way. :rolleyes:0 -
I can't now only thinking about Vampire Spike and Angel and the dream I am going to attempt to engineer tonight!!
Although a David Tennant/Declan Donnelly sandwich would do me nicely too..
OH GOD ONLY 3 more weeks....0 -
I had to delete my first reply to this because I started ranting

Clue is in the name, 'going homeless' as opposed to 'being made homeless'. Oh gosh, and my neice! Had her current a council house for almost a year and is being evicted as she has never paid a penny in rent (or even filled in the HB forms) as well as he first house that she gave up after 5 months, she never paid for that either.
They also celebrate turning 18 here, because they get more dole money. And I don't think my area is high unemployemnt, it's just that the ones who d it, do it for a living and are so damn good at it!0
