Well done allIcouldwishfor and liveandlearn :T

I had a good day yesterday as well. First a client called me with an order, then I was contacted with a request to attend a toddler group, and when I offered 'coffee and cards' at her home she said yes and booked me!

At last the business is coming to me :D
:) Thank you to all OPs :)
  • Great news live and learn on your first order - congratulations!

Personally I probably wouldnt offer a free gift - its a nice idea but will eventually eat into your profits, I can understand you feel grateful for your first order (I felt the same) but your customer has actually purchased some great quality products at a big discount. I'm sure she will be more than happy with the goods she has ordered.

With regard to your open days, I agree that you can't have too much stock. I would have thought a max of 15 - 20 people but it obviously depends on the size of your house and if you've got any help with making tea/coffee etc. Good luck with it - hope it goes really well for you.

Freepost cards - personally I'm working on establishing my own customer base first and will then concentrate on recruiting in a few months time. Have others done this or all you all keen to start recruiting asap?

Great to see the thread a bit busier!

I started using the freepost cards almost straight away. Although when I first joined Phoenix, sponsoring was not something I was interested in. However, I did recognise that if I do use the freepost cards and consequently sponsor someone, that I would earn more money!

I need to get some baskets, any suggestions on appropriate and cost-effective baskets?
:) Thank you to all OPs :)
  • Ikea are good for baskets, other than that, my supply comes from the local charity shop who puts them by for our pta prize hampers.
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!
  • The Range and Dunelm are good too.
  • Hello All

I haven't been on for a few weeks as I've been busy busy busy selling cards. But thought I would let you all know what fun I'm having doing it.

I've got a regular slot at my weight watchers meeting which is great, not many sales, but leads for other events galore, and 1 Party booked.

I've done 1 party and took over £170 in orders.

I've left a basket at a sure start centre - to be picked up tomorrow - fingers crossed.

I've done 7 big brochure drops, the last 3 got no orders at all but did generate some interest.

One table top sale last week - which was well worth it not so much in sales but leads for other events.

One table top sale this week and other events booked for later in the year.

I have a lady who is having the girls over tonight for pizza and as I already had something booked in I have given her a folder and samples - so fingers crossed there too.....

And today one lady called me to come to her event!!

I love it, I've been going for just over a month - I just need some tips on recruiting. Can anyone help???
  • Good going!

I've only been doing this on a very part time basis since end of Jan so am no means an expert but I set aside an area on my stand/table that has some free post cards, couple of brochures and some A5 flyers to take and 1 A4 poster on display that are available on the downloads section of the website. I've gone for the blue one with the lady ironing and says something like want to work from home?

I've also printed out labels that say TRADERS WANTED ask me for details, and stuck them on the front of the brochure. Attach a 'signature' at the end of your e-mails saying the same sort of thing. If people approach the stall I sort of say have you heard of Phoenix trading before? Then something along the lines of 'well we're here today selling some of the range of products we do but we're always looking for new members to join the team' and take it from there. Always take a trader pack or two to each event you do (making sure you've signed the form inside and put your details on the brochure) cos you never know... (All of the above I've learnt from my upline :A )

I've had 4 decent leads and I think 2 are going to go ahead.

Sorry if that was all a bit jumbled, not had my morning cuppa yet, but hope it helps.
Trying to earn some extra cash, just in case :undecided

Did you print out the flyers and poster yourself? I was under the impression that phoenix did it for us... there are some instructions to email someone at PT with a request, anyway I emailed a request but got a reply that I'm supposed to print them out. Can anyone clarify this for me please?

Also how much stock do you all keep? I only have 20 cards at the moment in stock and will be placing an order next week to fill customer orders but I am not sure how much stock to buy in. I need to buy more brochures etc aswell. I am feeling nervous about spending too much in case I can't shift it. I feel as nervous about placing this order as I did about starting up!

  • Hi Lala

Yes I thought I'd read something about contacting Phoenix re advertising literature - I will look into it and get back to you.

With regard to how much stock to keep, it really all depends on whether you are happy to invest part of your profits back into stock and have plenty to sell at events/coffee and cards etc or, if you prefer to take all your profit out and sell from samples/brochure. Personally I try to keep quite a bit of stock, I probably have just over £220 at the moment.

You should only order as much as you are comfortable with but bear in mind that lots of small orders will be more costly once you have factored in the postage. I'm still working out the best way to do it but one thing I do know is that however much stock you have, the next order you get will be for the one card you dont have!

    Good luck!

  • however much stock you have, the next order you get will be for the one card you dont have!

Yes, and then you get the people who want two of a certain card, so even if you have one, you need to order another!
