  • What an utter disaster today has been!! I did my first and last NCT sale today....

Oh no! That's a real shame, I can't believe no one even looked, how rude, and an expensive stall too!

  • Sorry to hear that Earthengirl - that's even worse than my Cats Protection League coffee morning, (I'd been promised a trestle table and got something that I could only just balance my a-frame on!!) Is it worth trying to get your pitch fee back? Did they tell you that you'd be in the foyer rather than the main hall? If I were you I'd be on the phone to the NCT co-ordinator asking for a refund.
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!
  • What an utter disaster today has been!! I did my first and last NCT sale today.... They shoved me out into the hallway on my own, most people just walked straight past my table or kept asking me where the ladies loos were!! I didn't sell a bean!! Not one brochure or leaflet was taken, not one ounce of interest was shown!
So I'm now £25 down! All the table top sales I do, I at least break even, or get some interest! This has been the worst so far.
At least I've learnt one thing, not to waste my time or money at an NCT sale.

Sorry to hear about your disappointing NCT sale Earthengirl. I would probably contact the organiser too - £25 is a very high table fee, don't know how they can justify that when they've shoved you out in the hallway.

Welcome to the new posters on here - look forward to hearing more from you.

When I booked it, I assumed I'd be in the main hall along with everyone else. £25 is their "business" rate, I had to chase them after I'd paid to confirm my booking.

The most irritanting thing that happened was that people just stood talking right in front of my stall, blocking my table, so others couldn't see I was there; a few people even had the nerve to turn round after their extensive conversations and ask me if it was okay to leave their buggies by my table!!!!

I'll contact the coordinator but I won't hold my breath about getting my money back.

Sorry to hear that Earthengirl. I had spoken to someone local who had tried an NCT sale but although hundreds of women come through the door they are all so desperate to find their baby bargain it's like a rugby scrum! It's straight to the bargains and out again, no messing about browsing.
I suppose booking a table anywhere can be a risk since the tables cost so much.

The £25 I paid to the NCT was the highest fee for a stall I've ever paid, normally I pay in region of £12. And always make my money back and very often now much more. As I said never will I do an NCT again!

There is a special fair held every year in my little town with music, entertainers, etc. Open air, down by the river with some marques but mostly outdoor stall and stages. Success is very dependant on the weather. And guess how much they are asking for a stall £50!! Just how many cards would you need to sell to break even there?

I have just paid £30 for a stall at a summer fete, so would need to sell £90 of stock to break even.

Hopefully I will at least get to promote myself by giving out brochures etc.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)
