I've just added up the cost of a brochure drop - a full brochure, with supplement, orderform, sample card and freepost card in a ziplock bag is 60p.
A supplement with an orderform and a freepost card in a small ziplock is 13p. I wish I hadn't worked it out now!I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0 -

That's interesting as I'm about to start brochure drops myself once Easter is out of the way (had 100 brochures sat in a box for about 6 weeks now). I hadn't thought about working it out like that.
At risk of redundancy in my 'day job' so may have to step up the Phoenix stuff big time soon...Trying to earn some extra cash, just in case :undecided0 -

Get those brochures out there - they won't sell anything sat in the box!!I put a note through the door of any who haven't left the brochure outside reminding them to put it out for tomorrow, then I have a quick whiz round the following day. I've lost 4 brochures per drop so far. Maybe I need to be a bit more selective about the letterboxes I put them through!
Sorry to hear your job is under threat. That's bad news.I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0 -
I am thinking of becoming a trader. We had a basket of cards in our school before christmas and I think the cards are lovely.
I am a trainee teacher but going on maternity leave just before summer. Do you all do your own taxes? How much do the cards cost to buy initially and how much do you sell them for?£2 Savers club £0/£150

It was adding up all the costs that has led to me stopping being a trader. I worked out that I'd have to sell 200 cards a week to make just £50 a week and to sell 200 cards I'd probably have to devote 20 hours a week to it.... £2.50 per hour....no thanks:( That is just me though. I'm sure someone with more sales savvy than me could make money.0 -
Oh dear Laladybird, sorry to hear you are quitting. I know it is not the easiest thing at first. I've been doing it now just over two months, The sales were really slow at first, and i mean really really slow!!, but I've now got several events booked now, which works out at one every two weeks, roughly. I've invested a fair bit in stock, so don't expect to be in profit for a few months.
It's a shame you gave up, but if it isn't right for you...0 -

I am really sorry to hear of your decision.
I joined the business in July 2008, and found it very tough at first although has got easier over time now that I am better established.
Have you considered aiming more towards sponsoring new Trader's? This will take a good few years, but 100 Trader's in your team doing £125 a month will give you £625 a month bonus.Thank you to all OPs
