  • I've just added up the cost of a brochure drop - a full brochure, with supplement, orderform, sample card and freepost card in a ziplock bag is 60p.
A supplement with an orderform and a freepost card in a small ziplock is 13p. I wish I hadn't worked it out now!
    Hi allIcouldwishfor,

How much do you allow for the cost of the ziplock bag in your calculations? I think quite a bit of the cost can be in that.

I paid £13+ for 100 gripseal bags in Staples when I started, so they were 13p each; but have just arranged with my training group to share the costs of ordering 1000 from ebay. That'll bring the price down to less than 5p each, which makes quite a difference.

My ET has also recommended that I print out some slips telling people 'free cards' for having a party, and put one of those in the brochures as well.

  • Rosemary, my gripseals were £4.79 for 100 off ebay, so that's the cost I've allowed for them in my calculations.

Lalaladybird, I'm sorry you are giving up. I do think though that people need to bear in mind this is a business, not a job. Most businesses make a loss in the first year of operating and it takes a lot of effort for very little reward in the beginning, it's only once you get a reasonable customer base and start sponsoring people that it becomes a more attractive proposition. One of my uplines has 450 in their team, if only half those people are making their 125 bv that's over £1,400 per month, but they didn't get to that position overnight!

Indeed, Phoenix is a business opportunity rather than a get rich scheme!

I know that if I work hard for a few years, then I will be earning good money for doing not a lot more than I am doing now.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)

  • Hi all:hello:

Been away for a few days - in the beautiful Peak district - so just catching up. Great to see lots of new posts! I too was really sorry to hear that you are not continuing with Phoenix lala, in fact when I first heard it made me face up to my own concerns but I've had a chance to think about it now and feel confident that I can make it work and be successful. I did my first party last week - not a great success as most of the people there had already ordered from me in the last few weeks but I sold a few bits - more than I would of done by staying at home anyway! Have got quite a lot of stock at the moment so hoping to book two toddler groups straight after the Easter holidays and i've just ordered another 50 brochures so need to get them out as soon as pos.

Good to catch up and hope everyone's having good Easter.:easter:

Woohoo! Been round this morning collecting brochures we put through letterboxes last week and have picked up an order for £47, that's my biggest order yet!

Currently, every penny I make in profit goes towards buying more stock and that will probably be the case til the end of this year. I'm going to have my launch coffee morning on 24th April so I'll need stock for that. Also, on 28th April I have the first of 3 confirmed toddler groups so I feel I need to have a reasonable sample of stock to be able to show people and for them to buy there and then.

That's great allIcouldwishfor! Good to hear a positive result from a brochure drop. I've been re-investing all my profit back into stock too - feel sure its the best way to start out. Hoping to get lots of Phoenix stuff done tomorrow as children off to play at friends house - don't seem to be getting much done during Easter holidays - lots of plans but not much action!
  • Easter Holidays have put a bit of a kybosh on things here too. We've done some brochure drops - the children help with those, although it would be quicker to do it on my own! I've phoned round to get into some toddler groups, downloaded and laminated some posters for the front room window and car, and made up some invitations to my coffee morning to hand out in the playground next week. I would have had my coffee morning sooner but I just couldn't face the thought of everyone bringing their children during the holidays!

  • Hello Ladies,

Just a quickie to update you on my launch parties/coffee mornings (one morning and an all-day open day,in fact)

I took over three hundred pounds in sales from stock or orders, was absolutely stunned, to be honest!!

I'm taking it easy (if entertaining the in-laws counts as easy ;) ) over the holidays then will be getting things moving again next week.

Lala, so sorry to hear it's not working out as you hoped. As the others have said, I don't think you can realistically hope to make any serious money in the beginning. It's not a case of 'work ten hours and earn X amount of money', unfortunatley (or fotunately!). I've only just started but really am convinced that it will be worth it in the long run. I'm just trying to get my face and the products seen and known by as many people as possible at the moment, and hopefully when the Xmas collection comes out, people wil recognise me and be more willing to buy from me (as people tend to but more Xmas cards anyway...) I think it's all about building up a relationship of trust.

I noticed that you posted about doing another party plan activity? Maybe one of the other companies would work out better for you, but don't forget that you will still have to invest in a starter kit, stock (depending on the company and how you want to work) and will still have to build up a customer base...it might be worth your while sticking this out at least until the end of the year, and then decide?

Good luck whatever you decide to do though :)
