Orchid Dialler Discount

Hi. I've recently bought a V4 dialler and want to configure it using the CW Client. I've contacted Orchid many times to get the username and password to use the software but haven't heard anything back.
How long does it usually take for the company to respond to e-mails? Or do I not need to contact them at all and can find out my username and password some other way?0 -

Very confusing but I will see if it works.
It does!! I have exactly the same set up - ie friends' routing table on my Cwclient. I make any necessary adjustments - then they force dial. NB you'll need to train your uncle how to do this...especially if he lives miles away....!!0 -

You should have received an e-mail at the same time as you got your dialler.
Phone them up and ask what is going on. My experience is that they are extremely helpful and their customer support is excellent.
I think this is their number: 01536 4436770 -
Wow! Just finished wading through the 41 pages - someone really should do a precis page
Got Orchid boxes for work and home and was a bit worried about setting them up but Orchid did it all for me - couldn't have been more helpful!!
Decided to go whole hog and register for as many carriers as have been mentioned - the 1899 dodge whereby you register using a mobile surely needs looking into - why do they pass that and chuck out landlinie registrations? Surely not because they think they'll make more money??
My work phone bills have plummeted since I stuck up a notice about 18866 but now I have 1899 and 18185 included and automagic I can't wait for next bill :-)))
Tried to get staff onto this but still seen as too complicated - I like the idea that they could all use my CW setup though - hadn't thought of helping them that way - no worries about phone numbers as you can edit everything in CW so it picks correct local numbers etc.
I wonder if Orchid do a reseller discount
One thought I had - what if a well trained person dials the 18866 (or whatever) code as before - can you get the dialler to strip this out and route correctly? I thought of setting 18866 as S would work - am I correct?
Cheers for all the help!0 -

Thanks for your reply FBRJ.
Contacted Orchid and was told that they had sent me an e-mail yesterday but for some reason it never arrived. They were very helpful and send a test e-mail first to make sure that it arrived correctly before sending the registration out again - very impressed!0 -
koenig wrote:Why on the Orchid Electronics site does it state there is an optional power supply for the dialler, and then say it is strongly recommended for cable users?
Is the power supply unit just incase your phone line develops a fault, thereby causing all the programmed data to be lost? And what difference does it make if your on a cable line?
I ordered a V4 recently and they sent V4plus minus the power cable. I have a universal charger and asked them the for the voltage and polarity settings. It's 12v ,+polarity. If you have an old one lying around with the same voltage,I assume it would be ok to use if you needed to0 -
Can anyone recommend carrier settings for the Orchid phone dialler for NTL users please.
Thanks0 -

At a minimum you need to have accounts set up with 1899 and 18185. If you make many international calls you might as well sign up with 18866 as well. The key account though is 1899 as you can make 01 and 02 calls all week for 0p/min and just subject to 3p per call connection charge. What NTL plan are you on? Do you make many calls to mobiles?
I can give you more detailed setting info re Cwclient once I know what basic account info you already have..............0 -
I downgraded from Talk Unlimited 24 after reading the posts to get an Orchid Phone dialler.

Thanks for the help so far.
Assuming you have accounts for 1899 18185 and 18866 I would set up as follows:
In "Carrier" box in routing schedule within Cwclient
1 1899 (dropdown:08081708708####)
2 18185 (dropdown:08081703703#####)
3 18866 (dropdown: 08081707788####)
4 Dialaround (dropdown: 08444624848####)
5 Dir Enq (dropdown: 08000192190)
Then using above examples (ie 1899 is No1, 18185 is No2 etc etc) go to "Routing" box within Cwclient and following the same order of Day, Night, W/end - set up as follows:
1. 0 Route all 0's "A" 1 1 1
2. *2*9 Local L "L" 1 1 0
3. 999 999E "E" 0 0 0
4. 121 Override "T" 0 0 0
5. 141 Route 141 "S" 0 0 0
6. 1470 Route 1470 "S" 0 0 0
7. 07 Mobile "A" 1 1 2
8. 0845 Local Rate A "A" 4 4 0
9. 0870 National Rate "A" 2 0 0
10. 0800 Freephone "E" 0 0 0
11. 00 International "A" 3 3 3 (or 1 1 1)
12 118*1*9 118DQTrans "T" 5 5 5
A few points.......
Make sure you follow exactly the letters I have marked with " x " eg attribute "E" for 0800 calls and attribute "T" for Dir Enquiry Calls (No 12 on the list). Incidentally that Dir Enq number is free. Everytime you dial 118something..something..something - the router is actually dialling 08000192190!
Any "0" means the call will go through NTL (eg local calls at the w/end which are free, or if you dial 121 first the call will be routed back through NTL). If you make regular international calls to a particular destination - then check on the call checker http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/callchecker/ to see cheapest rate - set up Cwclient accordingly (might be an 0844 No - not necessarily 1899 18185 or 18866) - you can set default for 1899 or 18866 or 18185 - just use cheapest for destination u call most regularly).
If you find 1899 (or whoever you set it to on Cwclient) does not route to a particular international No - then dial 121, which puts you back to NTL, and then the access code (from the call checker) and the No you want.
Purely as an example - taking No 7 above re calls to mobiles...the above settings route the calls: 1899 for peak and evenings and 18185 at w/ends (10p,10p and 2p/min respectively)...by comparison NTL would charge to Orange, for example, 24p, 18p and 7.53p respectively. In addition both NTL and 1899 have connection charges - 5p and 3p respectively.
Hope all this helps..........you may find further fine tuning to do - but at least this should give you a start. Good luck!
ps - if you've just got your dialler - you can always e-mail Orchid with the settings you want (or tell them over the phone) - they will set it all up and then all you have to do is "force dial" home to set your dialler.0
