    Well said normski!

On another note, as i am through ntl (don't know if it makes a difference) but i have to press the hash key lately to stop the long time it takes to connect, is this a new permament thing and should i re-program the box and add an extra hash??

    Thanks

There was another thread on this subject a few weeks ago (delayed 1899 - especially - connection for cable users with Orchid box)...can't locate it at the mo. Conclusions were that dialling a # at the end of the number sped things up and that the Orchid box can only add a # to the beginning number (ie not to the end of number being dialled). I also read very recently that the delay problem seems to have been fixed and there is no need to dial the # any longer!
  • Just bought the V4 dialler with the discount, but with Martin's article on Just-Dial Saver I am wondering how the V4 dialler would fit in? Can anybody help resolve this problem and explain to somebody like me who takes time understanding all the technical details whether I disconnect the dialler and route all calls through Just-Dial for evening and weekend calls and then use the 18866 pre-fix during the day?
  • madhur,
If you use CW Client, set 18866 as carrier 1, set your calls to 01, 02, *2*9 as follows: Day Night Weekend
    1 0 0

You can set it up to call mobiles through 1899, i think they are cheaper than Just Dial, again just add a new carrier 1899 (carrier 2) to the list and then point 07 calls to carrier 2 as below
    Day Night Weekend
    2 2 2

if you get stuck i am sure they will set it up for you.

For sure the Orchid people are very helpfull. I phoned them regarding setting up 18185 for 0870 numbers and they did it all for me ;)

Thanks for telling me how to go about it.I'll probably get them to sort it out for me initially until I grasp the technical details. Still contemplating switching to Just Dial saver, but I see from the other forum they have been around for sometime and those using them appear to be happy.

It takes about 26 seconds for a call to go through now, I think that is normal but I am not sure.

I reckon after the Orchid 'redials' your number once the acrrier is selected there is a delay of about 5 or 6 seconds before the tarriff message starts, used to be about 1 or 2 seconds originally so whilst not back to the original state it is much better than it was a few weeks back

    Hi,

I have just ordered my second Orchid dialler for my uncle, can I set up a routing table for him using my CW Client Account and then dial home from his house, to pick up his routing table and not mine?

I don't see why not. The only thing is your own phone number will have been programmed into this new dialler so I don't know if when phoning home from your uncle's landline it would work. I would ring/email Orchid and ask them.

I just rang Orchid up and they said they would copy my routing table and give it a different name in my account so I will have two routing tables and then just dial home from my uncles house and it should pick up the copied table.

Very confusing but I will see if it works.
