There is a thread on this somewhere.....many cable users (and I think mobile) are having this problem. The solution is to put a # on the end of the number when you dial it!

    Hope that helps...

  • I have been using an Orchid programmable dialler for nine months now, following your reccomendation.

The box is a breeze - just plug it in! - and Orchid's support line is very human and very helpful! How they provide the service for a £15 purchase [less discount] is amazing.

I am very IT savvy and I have to say that the software they provide [free] looks more capable of runnning a power station than covering a simple domestic function. It is far from intuitive, and I found I had to read the notes a number of times before the whole thing fell into place.....once you eventually get the hang of it, you can set an amazing number of permutations of provider, far more than most would need. For parents, the dialler will also allow you to ban certain categories of call.

You will also find that when you update your dialler, which requires a long string of numbers entered into your phone twice, Orchid's server will probably not immediately accept the update and you will have to redial a number of times.....a little frustrating. First time I tried it it took twenty attempts for the server to accept - however, I believe they have added more line capacity since then and the last time I updated, their server accepted the update on the second attempt.

That apart, this cheap little box will save you a fortune and a great deal of peace of mind.

Completely agrre with your thread. Also their customer services are secound to none, especially when a none IT type like me rings up with a problem, and its sorted more or less straight away!
  • Glad to read your posts as I just took delivery of one this week for the office but haven't looked at the instructions yet icon11.gif
  • I'm having a problem with my dialler.

Caller display won't work, take out the dialler from the phone line and it does!

This is just started to happen recently.

    Anyone help??
  • I just had to sing this companies praises, the helpline is an 0870 number, but well worth it - the customer support is second to none and the calls are not expensive (as are some 0870 numbers). Six months ago my in laws went bankrupt and I took over the running of their finances (what little were left). They had previously been paying nearly £500 a month to BT (yes, I know). We have sorted them with an orchid dialler and their bills including rental are about £30 - 35 a month now, this includes a fair amount of international and mobile calls. I have no idea how we would have managed things without the orchid dialler. My mother in law can just pick up the phone and dial to friends abroad for 2p per minute, or make her many many calls to directory enquiries through onetel for free. The diallers are wonderful things. We have six children and with two orchid diallers can afford to be fairly relaxed about telephone usage. For all orchid diallers bought I have had them set up to block premium rate calls being called - what more can a parent ask.
  • Hi, Can some kind person help a numskull ? I have a V4 dialer and I downloaded the .pdf instrctions to program it. I must have missed the class on rocket science. All I want to do is program the indirect service ( 0808 1 708 708 ) can any brain boxes out there just give me a clue on what to do. I'm a bit lost with all the jargon. ( I got the STD code bit, and # = 1 sec pause, but then I'm lost. Thanks alot
