So does it it means you can divert ur landline calls(incomming) to any no (mobile) same time use 1899? so the divert will be much cheaper than using BT's?0

AFAIAA, without specialist and expensive equipment, you have to use your service provider's system to divert incoming calls to your landline to any other number. I know that BT bar users inputting 1899, 18866 etc. as prefixes on their divert system.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
I've read most of the messages here and got a headache. Got questions . . .
Does the Orchid V4 dialer automatically and periodically `call home`? If do, why does it do this? What if I don't want it to automatically dial home? I don't want to see any number on my phone bill unless I have initiated a call.
This software that can be used to configure the call router. Exactly how does this program communicate the settings to the V4 call router?0 -
Hi Myron
The V4 router does not call home automatically, you need to force this by dialling a special sequence of numbers on your telephone and then hanging up (* * * 1 2 # 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 * 3)
The software configures your routing settings on the Orchid servers. Through the process of forcing the V4 to dial home, the V4 router connects to the Orchid servers, updates its date and time and downloads your latest current routing settings.
These settings will then be used until you change them and force the V4 to dial home again.
Hope that that helps.
Thanks

On the subject of "calling home" the V4 dialer is line powered and sets it's internal clock when it calls home to download its routing table. Is there any way to confirm that its clock is still accurate other that force a "call home" every now and then? There's no display to check so if the clock somehow gets screwed up, so would the routing and you may not know anything about it.Retired so trying to save even more!0

Thanks. I may try understand the manual programming procedure. Might even write a program that can send the codes to the call router by using the computer's modem to send the tones. All depends if I get one of these call routers.
How much does it cost to use Orchid's servers to store routing information and then use those servers to program/re-program the call router?markdavey wrote:Hi Myron

Dear All
In response to the various comments on programming your V4 products as of Monday 16th May all new orders will be sent out pre-configured with a basic default routing table.
The default routing table is designed to enable you to quickly and easily program your V4 based upon fixed national, local, mobile and international calls simply by using your telephone, as long as your routing requirement doesn't involve time of day or more complex routing options such as call barring there's no need to install and use CW Client.
Should you require more specific routing than that offered by the default routing table you'll either need our free CW Client program to set up your own routing table or mail us at support@orchid-electronics.com, your initial routing table will be set up free of charge and you can still request CW Client in order to make your own changes in future.
Should anyone have any questions or require any assistance with their V4 product please don't hesitate to contact us at support@orchid-electronics.com.
Regards

I personally think that is generous of them in comparison to how many companies that don't really bother with after-support, or charge a premium rate number for support. It's a shame they have an 0870 for telephone support but remember that email support is free and the queries I've had they've responded most of the time same day.0
