What is the real world ?

LOL, hanging out your washing in public used to be a social gathering and an event. It still is in some cultures. Gossip exchanged, troubles discussed and friendships confirmed - once a week.
It's part of what makes this board such a good place to be IMO. We are honest, open and downright emotional sometimes. Most of us have cried or come close on reading the posts of complete strangers. And been motvated to help in a way that bares our own souls to the world.
To be honest, this is the real world.
The attempts of the shallow, jealous, negative and proud people out there who think they can knock this community are laughable really. Hurt one and you hurt us all. We will (and do) respond accordingly.
Oh Jim.....you always know just how to phrase it just right.
Not sure about everyone else but I come on here every morning just to try & help anyone who I feel was where I was last March....For me this whole process has been & is continually an ongoing life changing event.
I have done alot of voluntary work over the years but never got as much reward as how I feel when someone gets to the `other side` safely & having gained from the support & friends that they meet on this board.
I always look at the other boards....I understand the criticism we receive & it is largely borne through ignorance & prejudice...but if any one of those posters suddenly fell on hard times through illness, accident, company liquidation etc etc then we would still help & support each & every one of them.
However...is this the real world?....I think yes it is...the whole financial world is in uncharted waters, banks going bankrupt..in fact ...whole countries going bankrupt. No wonder personal BR is on the rise as well.
Just my thoughts....Angiexx0 -
Well I'm almost BR. My attitude to the world and those who think I'm below contempt etc is simple. Fcuk 'em! I'll be debt free in 12 months while they are still trying to pay off the credit cards etc.
I am with you on this one, they do not live in the real world some people. I have always found everyone in this forum, friendly caring and really helpful. They can't do enough for you. It is a nice place to be even if under strange circumstances.:beer:0 -
Hi there.
Personally, I think they are jealous, & that they would love to say goodbye to their debts which haunt them every night in bed. They just dont have the guts, or maybe they are just unkind and heartless. No really, I dont know why they have to be so judgemental of others. I suppose that they are entiled to an opinion as much as I am.
I`ll shut up now, rant over with, lol.
Rictina.
You are right about haunting debts Rictina but most people keep it so quiet....mostly borrowing more to repay the bills month on month until times comes when there is no leverage left on the cards & no more loans ...thats when it gets overwhelming.
I admit I did this ( & hold my hands up) just to keep a roof over the kids` heads & pay the bills. No holidays or extravagance. Its like a snowball rolling down a hill....sooner or later it will crash at the bottom.
Sadly I think this economy has encouraged the never, never but the day of reckoning has arrived & sometimes those who are most critical of people in debt are often the ones in denial themselves . ( as I was)0 -

Hey! Whats Stoke got to do with it?? Im a Stokie and proud :T :T :T
I don't think I was rude about stoke on trent in that post. Which is unusual for me. I normally make some reference to the fact that it is the place JRR Tolken based Mordor's cloud of eternal darkness on. Or the fact the weather is so bad that it has to rain upwards two months of the year because there's no room left for it to rain downwards. But in that post, i wasn't rude about it at all.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Great post & remember that a £20 note does`nt carry an interest rate !!!
Was in Asda tonight & all three people in the queue before me were paying on credit cards! (not debit cards!!).
Very worrying.

It can be a good idea to use credit cards, if they are the type that gives you cash back, and you pay the credit card off every month it's free money.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
