Hi SA Not a bad day thanks. Have made appointment with my solicitor to sort out the transfer of the house to my ex so I can get her money and I've advertised on Gumtree for a dog friendly let.

Do you know I am quite gobsmacked to put it bluntly about your comments about 'friends and aquantances' throwing insults and more at any person re bankruptcy. I can understand the creditors but friends, no. I have no conception of this. So called friends aren't worth flushing down the toilet.
I am nearly 60 years old, i have friends who i went to school with, far flung friends i mean, maybe just Christmas cards and the like but I pride myself on my loyalty to them and i expect nothing less back. Any friend who doesnt give me back emotionally is left by the wayside. Not worth another thought.
(and i cant believe i have admitted on a public forum that i am about to become and old age pensioner}. ;)

Right, lighten the moment, i am going to South Africa next week and have been told not to mention the Flintstones. Why, because the people in Dubai
dont think its funny but the folk in Abu Dabi Do.

best wishes all - hope it brought smile
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

LOL, hanging out your washing in public used to be a social gathering and an event. It still is in some cultures. Gossip exchanged, troubles discussed and friendships confirmed - once a week.

It's part of what makes this board such a good place to be IMO. We are honest, open and downright emotional sometimes. Most of us have cried or come close on reading the posts of complete strangers. And been motvated to help in a way that bares our own souls to the world.

To be honest, this is the real world.

The attempts of the shallow, jealous, negative and proud people out there who think they can knock this community are laughable really. Hurt one and you hurt us all. We will (and do) respond accordingly.

I think if you go to stoke on trent, turn right, then left, then straight on for a thousand miles, it's next to the pub. I'm told some of the people that live there are pillocks, but I couldn't possibly comment.

Hey! Whats Stoke got to do with it?? Im a Stokie and proud :T :T :T

    Hiya,

Glad you found this little corner of MSE, it is friendly place and in my short time here i never seen or received anything but support and positivity.

I do think many havent a clue about what is the real world, I worked as a community development worker in some of the poorest communities, I've worked with people terrified of the debt collector etc, but also in those communities ive seen some real strength of character.
Im no better nor worse than many i worked with, the difference is i am better educated and have options, I was in a good job until a car crash blew it all away.

A year on - I am 3 weeks away from Bankruptcy, and in another year i will have taken another step forward. I still have my skills and knowledge and everything that is good - I just happen to be BR - I think any who judge see only the BR rather than the human being.

I sincerly hope that after the credit crunch has taken it toll, we move away from some of the nnsense that got us here..so real world id rather have that than cloud cuckoo land some people live in.

Lol oops sorry didnt mean to get on my soap box.:D

    Hi there.

Thanks for the support. I`m starting to regain my faith in human nature.

Good luck for 3 weeks, you`ll be fine.

Some people on the other boards or indeed this one from time to time are below contempt. I have had a few encounters especially when I was trying to offer support to a lass who was going to be left with a 55k debt as northern rock had sold her house cheap.
A warm human would offer support, someone below contempt would make her feel worse and indeed incourage suicide. The people on these BR boards are the warmest people I have met in a long while, We have all found ourselves in horrible positions for different reasons, sometimes not our fault and have chosen to get out of it. Ok our choice is not for everyone, but that is the point it is our choice. We have a choice. BR is not illegal.
Just remember what 'the real world' is really like. Full of people who build you up in order to push you from a great height.
Full of people who think they are better than everyone else. But I bet if looked into the background they would be guilty of some kind of theft, or getting out of agreements they should have stuck to.
Full of people who do not like to see anyone else succeed, and of course when it goes wrong will laugh for weeks.. all because they did not have the B*lls to try.

    Hi there.

Thanks for the support, its very true what you are saying.

    Hi its Rictina.

Just a quickie to say you are quite right about "the real world".

    Cheers.

Well I'm almost BR. My attitude to the world and those who think I'm below contempt etc is simple. Fcuk 'em! I'll be debt free in 12 months while they are still trying to pay off the credit cards etc.

I got to the point where I just couldnt take it anymore and my debt problems needed fixing once and for all. People can say what they like - they havent got a clue and I dont give a toot anyway - some people have no mercy for others - and that is really sad, for one day, it may be them needing mercy.

    Hi there.

Personally, I think they are jealous, & that they would love to say goodbye to their debts which haunt them every night in bed. They just dont have the guts, or maybe they are just unkind and heartless. No really, I dont know why they have to be so judgemental of others. I suppose that they are entiled to an opinion as much as I am.

I`ll shut up now, rant over with, lol.
