Had a quiet day. Ordered a bouquet from Bunches for elderly relative's birthday on Thursday and went shopping for loaf, eggs and milk.
Made a dozen home made rolls and everybody loved them for lunch - have two huge quiches in the oven - nearly ready for tea. One has bacon in it and the other has the scraps of chicken left on the bird from a main meal, which I put in slow cooker so there was no waste.
Youngest daughter is at a friends so it is very quiet here at the moment!"This site is addictive!"

Hello again
mossy - did your loaf go soggy cos it cooled inthe BM? Usually it says to take them out as soon as they are finished and leave them to cool on a rack. If they are kept in the machine, they start to re-absorb the steam so go soggy. My paddle has stuck in the bottom of the loaf the last few times. I usually cut around it with a plastic knife and using a piece of kitchen paper, carefully pull it out - although this is tricky cos it's so darned hot
Anyway - cleaned mum's house top to bottom and Mr TM did sterling work in the garden and bagged up 10 bags of rubbish for recycling. I made everyone a nice omlette for lunch to use up some bits - haven't had one in ages. Mum had been out with a friend yesterday and bought me a pressie - 3 lovely balls of wool, a pattern book for afghans and a crochet hook (luckily a different size to the one I bought yesterday) And more importantly, she thinks my aunt can crochet - but she's in South Africa for the next few weeks, so will have to wait for my lessons.
Right, there's nothing on tv tonight (I don't think) so I'll submerse myself in the bath with my book for an hour once the boys are asleep. Best go and look if there are any free smellies with mags as I'm short of bubbles - Lillibet, you couldn't send some this way could you
Have a good evening

Evening everyone :hello:
Feeling a bit icky today. Don't know what it is as I haven't had any children deciding that they're not feeling very well - before half term, I had a couple in my class every day. They were probably trying out my sympathy levels though.
Our boiler seems to be fixed :j :j Last night when I had a shower, it was freezing cold and I had to whack the thermostat in the house up to 30 degrees   whilst I was in the shower, just to have a semi-warm shower. (it then went right back down again!) Fingers crossed that it's ok when I get to have my shower tonight!
OH is on his way home. He's cooking supper tonight - it's only honey and mustard chicken with new potatoes and peas - whilst I do some marking.
And I've had some news that my dad is hopefully going into hospital next week for his hip replacement. He's had a bad hip for about 6 years, but being stubborn he's left it this long to get on the waiting list. If he'd been less stubborn then he'd have been able to have it resurfaced. My mum's got all the rehab equipment ready and waiting at home (toilet seats etc). It needs to be done soon because he's got to walk me up the aisle for my wedding in July!
Anyway, I'd better get on with some work.

Forgot to say - I was telling mum how we would love the house next door to her, so she rang up her neighbour to ask. It's not been valued yet, but we had a figure in mind - turns out she's already had someone knocking on the door offering her the lower end of what we thought it was worth, but she wants £250K more
I mean - what planet is this woman on? She can ask what she wants - but it will only sell for what people will pay and as there have now been 2 enquiries at similar amounts of money - that should tell her something. She's told mum that the amount she stated is what she 'needs' to move on - hmmm , methinks she's in for a shock. Ah well, we can dream about a house like that I suppose0 -
Had some good news today - the owner of the little shop over the road has agreed to get his brother who runs a cash&carry to send him some 2 litre containers of white vinegar for me. This is very good because even after we move into the new house this shop will be no more than 15mins walk away.
Reading the thread on silverfish is making me dread seeing the house again after we get the keys tomorrow - the gas & electric have been turned off since 1st dec.
OH had to go to a show in london center today (he works for a firm that makes industrial cookign equipment) and has come back with a present. I am so glad that it's flowers not sweets for a change as I am finally starting to lose weight.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0
