morning.
decided to walk into work this morning rather than get the bus - it's 'brisk' out there!
hope everyone has a good day, can't stay long and say much more, meeting at 9:happyhear0 -
Morning all.... Hugs to everyone :grouphug:
What an EXPENSIVE weekend I've hadOn Saturday we took DD upto the Lakes to stay with IL's for a couple of days (hoping the fresh air has cleared her cough!) and then back again costing us a full tank of petrol (£30ish) but at the same time I spent about £9 in Morrisons on lunch/dinner and a Be-ro Cookbook :j
Sunday we went shopping for a pressurewasher as our yard is green and last spring it took 10 GALLONS of pure bleach and many hours of back breaking scrubbing to get it clean  There is also the added bonus that OH might wash his own car now instead of taking it to the car-wash (£5 a time for the works)But it cost us £170 in B&Q by the time we bought the starter kit (no hosepipe or connectors so had to get them), a cleaner (mainly for when we do the patio furniture and the like), and finally managed to get an adaptor that fits our mixer tap (£5 for that alone! ). We also went to another DIY shop and bought a rug for the livingroom (but got £5 knocked off the price it went through at as the rug was marked as £5 cheaper
), two new mats for by the back door (one inside and one outside for getting the mud off) as we were using carpet offcuts and kept tracking mud into the house (not good with a mostly white kitchen floor) and a spray mop thing from Vileda - it cost a bit BUT I've used it 3 times since Saturday night :rotfl:. We then had KFC for tea
so it was a bit of
an expensive day.
Yesterday we went to the Trafford Centre and spent over £200Almost all (£25 went on a meal for the two of us) went on DVDs or books (although one called "Cutting The Clutter" by Cynthia Townley Ewer was worth the money!!!
Very biased plug for a friends new book - £3 off in Borders though
). We called into B&Q again on the way home as we needed to buy the correct fitting for our mixer tap and we ended up spending another £30+ in there by buying matching lampshades for the livingroom (going to be repainting it soon from blue to a pale peachy colour in theory), the fitting for the tap, and a small bag of compost so I can start my seeds off
After all that we went to Asda (where I stocked up on baking supplies in addition to the weekly shop) and I accidentally put my Mastercard instead of my switch in the card machine as I was too busy trying to pack the trolley and use my £7 worth of Baco vouchers and I only realised when I looked at the screen to enter my PIN and noticed it said "Mastercard" But the £49 (before discount) did include a GOOD QUALITY new pillow for DD at £5.47  I guess I'll just have to get a move on with the ebaying to pay it all off
Anyways, I'm on my own today until at least 8pm (more likely to be 9pm) as OH is back at work and is then going to pick DD up from his parents place. Soooo... my plan for today is to tidy up the house and let the bedrooms air then around 10am I'm going out to pressurewash the yard :j so I'm not trying to do it while DD is home or when I have to go back out to pick her up from school.
I'd actually better get going. The livingroom looks like a bomb site and our bed needs stripping and I have dishes to wash :rolleyes:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Morning all
Hope you are all well today.
KC - your day sounded like bliss - now you know OH can cope the world is your oyster.
KatGlasgow - how did your gammon turn out in the SC
Hugs to all those who are poorly.
Up early again today - nose running like a stream.
Had a quiet day yesterday - hoovered all of the house, swept the wooden floors hung out 2 loads of washing - got most of it dried outside - then hung up all items that where dry (no need for ironing :j ) - only some towels needed hung on the airer at night. finished reading Angels and Demons - watched the first 3 episodes of Prison Break - have the other 10 to watch. made dinner, Toad in the hole - was alright but the yorkie bit was still a bit doughy. washed all dinner dishes by hand and put away, worked out food menu and budget for the next 12 weeks(2/3 - 11/5) - reckon £400 will cover all food, toiletries etc -we need to save some money so will be tight budget.
Plans for today
strip bed and wash - looks another good drying day today
change bedding
start tidying out kitchen cupboards in anticipation of big shop in the next 2 - 3 weeks
Watch more of Prison Break
B/l - tuna /sweetcorn/ pepper pasta (made large bowl yesterday lunch)
d- chicken thighs (have been marinating overnight in hot and spicy marinade with rice
have a lovely day all
Take care

Morning everyone!
(((((((HUGS)))))) to all who need one!
Nicki Hope the fresh air helped your DD's cough! I remember some years back my OH couldn't get rid of a cough and sniffles, it was hanging around for months. Then we went to Aberystwyth for a caravan holiday and he got well within 24 hours!
P-P I was so glad to hear you've a holiday in the offing! hope the time passes quickly until then. Somerset is lovely. BTW you mentioned the other day that you wanted some JL saucepans. I bought one earlier this year (wanted one that wasn't non-stick so I could use my electric mixer to mash the spuds on a bad day) and it's my favourite thing in my kitchen! I chose their middle-of-the-range one, as they had the comfiest handles to hold. If you plan buying yours on-line though, I would go to B'water when you're having a good day and try them for weight - I found the largest one would have been too heavy for my muscles if full of spuds! They've got thick bottoms and conduct the heat really well so I don't have to have the gas turned up high when using it. I've decided to get a couple more, one at a time.
Meeting a former colleague for lunch today. She was off work for over 3 years with Fibromyalgia, but has managed to go back part time which is great.
I'm sure i had something more interesting to tell you but con't remember what it was........never mind!
Hope you all have a good day.

mornine everyone.
sorry to hear there are some poorly people again.
Kiwichick - you've reminded me i need to organise myself. My MIL bought me a half spa day at the hotel i got married at, and i've only got another month to use it. I'd best book it fairly soon so i don't waste it.
penny- pincher - your holiday sounds great. It's good that you have something to look forward to.
i'm having a slow day - i got up early. I've been on the computer a while, but i'm about to go and wash my hair and get on. The WM needs to go on, and i think i am going to have to go to the supermarket today. I had to do an interesting concoction last night as we have run out of potatoes. I was going to do an online shop, but half of the fruit and veg big saver packs i get were unavailable. so i'm just going to get enough to get me to the weekend, when DH will take me shopping.
I think i'd best start doing a bit of a list. I'm trying to run the freezer down a bit - although, i have a lot of chicken breasts in there, and i don't want to use them all up in case the price goes up because of bird flu. i think i will just run it down enough to put them in a cool bag while i defrost it.
anyhow, i'm going - i must not sit on the computer all day today. have a goodday everyone.

Morning all,
Gosh KC I'm so jealous. I was in the office until 9:30 last nightthen in pub with bosses, paid for by them, but still I have better things to be doing between 21:30 and 23:00 than being in the pub with people I've been working with all day. In fact, sleeping might have been a nice alternative  I only went to the pub because (a) at first my immediate boss wasn't going to come, and I do like my other boss a lot, and (b) cos my other colleague lives near me and was also going to the pub and it always feels nicer/safer to get the train home together.
Am keeping a eye out for a new job with flexitime  - am sick of working ridiculous hours for no extra reward.
Still, expecting bonus on Friday but no idea of amount cos of it being a new scheme and my company's stingy anyway. It won't be much. If it's £200 or less then it's already spoken for, for a savings top-up and some opera tickets later in the year
You know, while talking about luxury days out - just round the back of my office building there's one of those places where you can go and chill in a flotation tank. I've never been but I seem to remember they cost a good £40-£50 an hour or thereabouts. Hmmm - must see if there are any special offers/vouchers anywhere...
nicki it may be a bit late now but is there nowhere near you that could have HIRED you the pressurewasher?
PP - great news on the holiday.
TM it just occurred to me with you calling your boys the "meeces" - do you think "icklemice" might suit them
Seeing BF this evening for the first time in over 2 weeks - yay!! Think we're just going to have a quiet beer then go our separate ways.
Breakfast was McDonalds coffee and Oatso Simple (sorry - overslept)
Lunch will be reheated pasta
Dinner - Friday's leftovers before they go off.

Sorry havent had time to read the thread yet so hugs to those who need them.
Had a fab day yesterday, went to Slimming World and my weight had stayed the same. Then went into Liverpool finally got DD new shoes and then went to my friends to give her a birthday present, she lives right next to the albert dock so we went from a walk round and had lunch in one of the bars. Not very moneysaving but totally delish. Later on we went for a walk round costco to see if it worth joining on the whole we decided it was and will join next time we need to do a big stock up.
Today the WM on already as its nappies they will prob go on the line first then in the dryer later. I'm planing to give our bedroom a good going over and change the bed. Hopefully DD wil have a good sleep and I can get some batch cooking done.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I read this post every morning but never reply which is a bit daft really! So I thought I'd join in too...
Been a nice morning so far, not the usual mayhem of a week day with the school run for DS1. He was a bit poorly yesterday so I had to keep him off nursery. He seems fine today but if they've had sickness symptoms you have to keep them off for at least 48 hours. Both boys had a good night thoughand their both dressed and breakfasted. I see DS1 is putting on the Shrek DVD (again!). Still, if it keeps him amused!
So WM is on. Doubt I'll get it hung out again though like yesterday which was brilliant! Got 2 loads out and completely dry. Been AGES since I've been able to do that. I must admit getting mighty fed up with the airers all over the place.
Housework wise, cleaned all Living room yesterday and swept and mopped the laminate floor. Today I think I'll give the bathroom the once over and maybe tackle that cupboard in my bedroom which I've been avoiding and has become a real clutter! All this has to be squeezed in round the boys mind you. Took me literally all day yesterday in fits and starts just to do the living room!
Have a good one everyone0 -
Good morning everyone,
KC - your day sounds lovely, glad that you had a nice tidy house to come home to as well, mustve been the best way to end a lovely day!!!!
PP - will be lovely to have your week away to look forward to!!!
Everyone who is feeling poorly/had a bad night, hope the day improves xxx
Well, i managed to have a lie in today as the little one that normally comes at 7.30 isnt here today, so although i wasnt asleep, i stayed in bed til DS came in at 8, it was lovely!!!!
Have a lot to do today, but after my lazy start ive not done much so far!!! The WM is on, and all the clothes off the airer ready to put away, but thats it!!!! The beauty of half term i suppose, no rushing around!!! Still have to put the BM on, clean the bathroom, dust and hoover downstairs, and today i am determind to sort out all the crafty stuff i have for the children, doesnt sound much, but there is loads of it, all in different places, so it will be a long time, but needs to be done!!!! Also want to take the children out for a walk sometime this morning, at the moment its lovely out there, although cold!!!!
I hope everyone has a lovely day, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0
