I booked scarborough st. Nicholas and have read only awful reviews...anypne stayed there or know the location?
I can't understand these reviews. Right in the town and close to everything - it is an old posh hotel taken over by TL. Larger than usual rooms and with delightful views if you manage a sea-facing room. Well recommended by me at least."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

I stayed with a friend in Feb this year. Staff were interested, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the location near the seafront.
I acknowledge the parking issues mentioned by our fellows. If walking is not a problem most sights are within a few minutes of the hotel. There is a reasonable bus service with a stop just at the up the street from the hotel for those who may prefer. We actually left the car behind. The railway station is a v. short distance from the hotel.
Have booked again in October. I have no complaints with the hotel and the area is worth another visit.:cool2:0 -
This month hubby & I stayed in the following Travelodges,
Bangor - doesn't have a lift. The female receptionist was friendly and helpful while the male receptionist wasn't friendly. The Travelodge was fine otherwise although you would know that it was old. The car park was reasonably well lit and car parking was free. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over the bath.
Hilton M6 Southbound - doesn't have a lift. All staff members were friendly and helpful. The Travelodge was fine otherwise although you would know that it was old. There were three pillows available in the room and when we requested a fourth pillow which was supposed to be available there wasn’t any but the staff member did apologise. The car park was reasonably well lit and car parking was free. The bathroom had a bath and shower over the bath.
Rugby Central - does have a lift. All staff members we encountered during our visit were friendly and helpful. There was only one hand towel available in the bathroom were as we received two hand towels in the other Travelodges. It was fine otherwise although and you would know that it was new, built in October 2010 as far as I know. The car park was well lit and Tesco which opens 6am - 11pm was on the ground floor. Tesco customers use the same car park as hotel residents which is stated on Travelodge’s website. There is an atm beside the Tesco. There was no bath in the bathroom just a shower. The room was compact. The Travelodge is located next to a train station as stated on their website but we were on the other side of the hotel which overlooks the car park and the noise of the trains didn't interrupt our sleep. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was freshly cooked.
Blackpool South Shore - does have a lift. All staff member were friendly and helpful. The room kettle was dirty (glad we had our own with us). The hotel was fine otherwise. The car park was well lit although you have to pay £5 for 24 hour car parking as stated on their website. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it.
Burton M6 Northbound - it doesn't have a lift. All staff members were friendly and efficient. The room kettle was dirty (delighted we had our own with us). The hotel was fine although you would know that it was old. The car park was reasonably well lit and car parking was free. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it.
Dumfries - it doesn't have a lift. Both receptionists were helpful and efficient. The bathroom sink did not have a stopper. The bathroom fluorescent light flashed constantly. You would know that this was an old Travelodge. The car park was poorly lit. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it.
I wish each Travelodge’s website would state whether or not they had a lift.

I would recommend Porthmadog Travelodge. Although this is your typical Travelodge (room layout, a bit too hot) and in an industrial estate, it is only a few miles from Mount Snowdon.
The Porthmadog station of the Ffestiniog railway is walking distance from the hotel.
We used this hotel as a cheap base for a Snowdon long weekend and weren't disappointed.
P.S. Dh is looking over my shoulder and says that Heston Services Travelodge on the M4 is to be avoided - pretty scummy apparently0 -

Agreed, was there last weekend.
However, be advised that both Porthmadog and Caernarfon have very firm mattresses on hard bed bases which will not suit everyone.0 -
I liked London Royal Park.
I can't remember much about the TL itself, so I think it must have been OK, but it's location is good.
We got there without touching the congestion zone, it's close to a tube (Park Royal), there's parking onsite at £5 for 24 hours and opposite there is one of those "entertainment complexes" (cinema, pizza hut etc). The best bit though was getting it for £9 one Saturday near Christmas a few years back. Made for a very cheap weekend away even with the tube rover tickets.0 -
I had previously put threads on this site with my concern over the 2 Travelodges mentioned above, because of the reviews I had seen on Trip advisor. I was told by others on here to stop worrying and make my own mind up after my stay. I'm so glad I took your advise.
We stayed at Saltash (outskirts Pymouth) for 1 night and the rooms were clean and perfectly acceptable (maybe the carpets and bathroom had seen better days but they were clean and functional and at sale prices totally acceptable). Unfortunately within 15 minutes of arriving there was a power cut which threw the staff into chaos - they didn't have a clue what to do, computers down obviously, Luckily we had already been given our key and we had a torch in the car. There is a Burger King and Little Chef on site but I wouldn't touch the Little Chef! We had dinner there (later in the evening once the power had returned obviously!) and the food was still frozen in the middle - sent it back once but the 2nd offering was only marginally warmer. The staff were rude and totally unhelpful and uninterested! I have sent a complaint into Little Chef but I will be surprised if they reply.
Roborough TL was just outside Plymouth and the rooms were lovely - for a Travelodge definitely up market! Only thing I would suggest when booking in ask if you could have a room on side away from main road as it can be very noisy (cars). It has a Toby carvery attached which served good, well priced food and drink. We will definitely try and book here again.
We decided to go down to Newquay and stay in the waterfront TL which cost us £64 for 1 night (Saltash + Roborough cost £15 per night sale price) but we also had to pay an extra £10 to park the car over night in the station carpark! Newquay TL does not have its own parking something we hadn't realised. The rooms were again clean and acceptable.
Out of all of them I would say Roborough was the best, the staff were lovely, the rooms of a high standard (for TL!) and the on site facilities excellent.

Did you mean Hayle travel lodge by St Ives? where is the waterfront travel lodge?0 -
It's described as on the seafront as at least half the rooms have seaviews - it's opposite train station (Newquay) next to lidls, looks new!

Oooops just been told by hubby it was Newquay! Doh!0
