Yes it's outrageous that a Barclays adviser wouldn't know about a transfer from Lloyds !!Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At last Barclays have got their act together after last years debacle. I nervously opened up a Golden ISA (purely for the 3.61% rate)after having terrible problems with last years Tax Haven.I opened the Golden ISA on Tuesday in branch and received wriiten confirmation, with acc no./sort code/amount deposited etc ..today Thursday. They seem to have done it all in branch this time as opposed to sending it all off, losing cheques etc..So praise where its due Barclays,Well Done & to all those rate tarts out there who read all the (justified)bad press about Barclays previously,Go for Gold this year without hesitation!0

Victor62,
Was the account you opened for the current tax year or for the new one starting on April 6th?It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

In previous years you have been able to apply for an ISA online in advance for the following tax year.
I am disappointed that this option is not available for this year. What I would like to do is have the account open and ready so that I can make my deposit on 6th April.0 -

I agreed that it would be nice to do that - but my source tell me that from 9am on the 6th you'll be able to open the Golden isa there and then via their online bank and pay funds in there and then.0 -

Yeah I was told that yesterday. The advisor I spoke with said they had taken this action to ensure that all 08/09 apps were processed in time and also that customers applying for 09/10 would not experience delays in opening theirs on 6 April onwards. I couldnt really grumble as last year, I waited four weeks to open ISA.
Sounds like they have started to get there act together at last....0 -
I bank online with Barclays already and as per previous posts, I opened my Golden ISA online in about 2 minutes. It showed instantly alongside my current account. Cant fault them on this one.0
