What a !!!!ing ridicolous thread
Firstly, TS and Consumer direct are advising on incorrect facts. You stated the seller said the car was mechanically sound. They did not, they said it appears sound. Can you prove (evidence not just opinion) they lied.
Unless you can dont even waste yours or anyone elses time.
Imo the ad makes it perfectly clear you are getting a poor example of the car and that is recognised in the cheap price.
It is not their fault you were too lazy or naive to get appropiate checks done and it couldnt have been that bad if after a test drive you didnt realise it was "unroadworthy"
Saying all that you seem one of the pricks in society who are happy to waste everyone elses time and money chasing non cases because you happen to have the time. No doubt your on benefits.0 -

Because you posted it.
TS stated that they understood you were told the car was in good mechanical condition - you were not. You were told it seems to be.
And Maintainance, and servicing doesnt prevent a car ever becoming faulty.
If it had major bangs and rattles why did you buy it? you were happy enough after a test drive.
You purchased the car and have no case. NO CASE.
And because you seem quite happy to waste everyone elses time and cash in a court because you tried to get a cheap deal and didnt even have the brains to get the car checked.
You should count yourself lucky you even got offered the £80.
Re Mikey, sound in the sellers opinion, this doesnt make it an open ended warranty, unless the OP can prove this was a lie - i.e they knew of signifcant mechanical failures making the car unroadworthy - then no case.
Some people need to realise if they spend peanuts they cannot expect brand new car quality.
Oh and being a former police car it was certainly well maintained, it was also likely thrashed at high speeds.0 -
